Old School New York Pizza

All I can say is wow. I can’t believe I have never tried this place! After a long and very troubling day, my boyfriend and I decided to try somewhere new for dinner and were craving pizza. After some debate, we ultimately decided to pick up a pizza from this place and some beer from Thorntons nearby rather than go out, and I couldn’t be happier with our decision to stop here! Thanks to all you fellow Unilocalers with such great reviews that led us to go with it.
First off, if you order online you get 10% off! OK, I hate talking on the phone anyway. Secondly, their pizzas are HUGE. Like spinellis huge, but way better. Garlic knots, check. Mini breadstick bites swimming in garlic butter and still somehow not soggy. Buck brownies, check. Like Little Debbie cosmic brownies crossed with crack. All of which were amazing.
We spent a little over $ 25 for this amazing meal which left pizza leftovers too. And they apparently deliver for $ 2. This may be our new go to pizza joint, not gonna lie.

This place was recommended to me by my barber across the street (Ryan At East End Barber Shop) some time back, and I finally had a chance this week to stop in and try the pizza. I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical about the claim of being New York style but they are indeed the real thing. I actually can’t wait for an excuse to go back and this time I will order a whole pie to take home with me. The two slice and a drink special for $ 6 all day is a good way to give the place a trial run.

While there’s nothing cozy about this place, it’s spacious, the food is excellent and the service is friendly. We had pizza and garlic knots, both delicious. A great find. FYI: my phone told me its location was on the opposite side of Factory Lane.

I absolutely love New York-​style pizza, so I just had to try this place out. Especially after seeing all the favorable Unilocal reviews. Thank you, my fellow wonderful Unilocalers! This place is just awesome — great for families, and we love the friendly laid-​back staff. It’s a small, clean, well-​lit, diner-​type restaurant, with a bit of a fast-​food vibe. EVERYTHING is tasty, and there’s plenty of toppings on the pizza. The crust is perfect, love the sauce, And LOVE the fresh salads — very tasty yumminess!!!
Unfortunately, we arrived late to meet friends who had already ordered (and we were famished), so we gobbled everything down before I remembered to take pictures. We will return soon!
Note to parents/​families:
They provide crayons and coloring sheets for kids, and there’s changing table stations in both the mens and ladies room = AWESOME!!!

Perfect. The pepperoni is amazing. We also had the tomato basil. So so good. Three place is very clean and the employees and very nice. I’m so glad we stopped by while we visited Louisville.

Alright… alright. Long overdue for this updated review but they made a ton of changes and have absolutely blown my mind. It’s like a gift from whatever God you worship to have this so close to home, but they seriously earned this 5 star review update. I cannot find a better pepperoni pizza anywhere in the region. They should consider growing this business to more locations, it would do really, really well like… anywhere.

Great great great great great great tasting Pizza. They have excellent combination of ingredients like the roasted potato pizza or the caprese pizza. Top quality service and top quality taste. Very NY in every way. Fantastic choice. Good on you for eating here.

I have been coming here to Old School New York Pizza since it opened a few years back. The late owner as well as the current owner are authentic New Yorkers and the food reflects that. They make everything from scratch and always use fresh, quality ingredients. The pizza and the calzones are the best that I have ever had, hands down. I have referred many friends and acquaintances to try it and they have also came back with the same conclusion… best they have ever had!

Stopped in with friends after visiting the jack o lantern spectacular. Got two pizzas, and received a discount after the employee graciously offered a coupon. Service was excellent, including having Ohio state on the tv after seeing us in osu gear. Also pulled in an extra table so we wouldn’t crowd our table with two pizzas. Pizza was excellent New York style, crispy and chewy crust with crispy pepperoni. Ham and pineapple was also very tasty. Garlic knots were seasoned well and swimming in garlic sauce. Highly recommended!

We happened upon this place by accident one day and we decided to give it a try.
It was fantastic. We tried an order of cheese bread to start, it was a bit like a calzone. It has a prominent but not overpowering garlic flavor and is packed with yummy, gooey, stretchy cheese. The sauce it came with for dipping was delicious. We tried two pizzas, the bacon potato pizza and a create your own with pepperoni, meatballs, peppers, onions and basil. Both were very tasty. They were very generous with the toppings, it was just the right amount so that you get all the different ingredients in each bite but it’s not so overloaded that it weighs the slice down and makes it difficult to eat. I was very impressed with the crust, it was thin but still had a nice balance of crispness and chewiness, it didn’t have any of that unpleasant floury taste that some crusts can have.
Also, the pizzas are absolutely ENORMOUS. The slices are huge and very filling. Thankfully the pizza tastes amazing leftover because if you get a whole pizza here you’ll definitely have leftovers.
I also recommend trying the cannolis here. They’re surprisingly good.

Yummy authentic New York style pies! Let’s start with the crust… nice and crispy dough cooked to perfection. I ordered the $ 6 lunch special. It included 2 slices and a drink. Awesome value! I grabbed a togo order while on my lunch break. I was pleased I didn’t have to wait but a minute. Great service! My pizza choices were the meatball and the Hawaiian. Both topped with fresh ingredients and very very tasty. My favorite was the Hawaiian. I’m a sucker for pineapple on my pizza. :)
I’ll be back!!! It’s close to work and wonderful. That’s a win win in my book!

Pizza was really good. Crisp crust and fresh even though we ordered slices out of the case. Had a great flavor too. Alot of people were coming in for carry out. The dining room was clean, bright and airy. My kids just thought it was OK but I really like this restaurant.

Had take out from here tonight, GREAT PIZZA! It is just like NYC pizza you get in the city, finally found a new pizza joint with true New York Style!
Friendly staff, they also have pizza by the slice while you wait on your 18″ inch pie! That’s right I’m American I needed a slice while waiting. Buffalo chicken very tasty!

Traveling for work, when Unilocal led us to this gem. First the pizza: Fresh, made to order, quality toppings, perfect amount of sauce and cheese and the BEST crust you can imagine. It had the perfect amount of crunch but folded nicely.
Second the cookies: chocolate chip delights. Literally melt in your mouth good!!!
Third the staff: helpful, quick, clean, and kind. Honestly it was a win win win!!!

Who knew authentic New York style pizza (says my native New Yorker lunch date — I’m taking her word for it) was located in a strip mall on the east end? Big ol’ foldable, greasy, delicious slices of pizza, calzones with ricotta and mozzerella cheese oozing out, homemade noodles in their lasagna (just added to the menu), and big fresh salads — all squished unassumingly between the asian massage place and the nail salon. Let’s just go with it.
The guy at the register was clearly made of NY material, when I wanted a veggie calzone (because sometimes meat is optional in my world) he negotiated (we won’t say argued… only because he was smiling) me into a spinach meatball calzone because it makes a better end product — no soggy Italian food was coming out of his kitchen if he could help it. He was so confident about it that I went with it — and it was good. A pound of calzone and fresh marinara, no need for a side or any fillers it was perfect as-​is.
The place just hit the one year mark and they seem to be hitting their stride. They just dropped gelato from the menu (argumentative/​friendly owner-​type says his customers didn’t really know what it was — c’mon people!) but are adding some fun new options and have a $ 6 lunch that’s worth a look.
Bottom line — Decent prices, fresh ingredients, bright friendly open space, friendly service, attention to food detail. The best quick-​Italian option I’ve had in quite some time.
