I have never been disappointed with the food here. It’s always fresh and tastes great. I always leave with a full and satisfied belly. My favorite dish is the meatball phở. I love their egg rolls. Service can be slow. I think there are only two people that work here. The owner is a nice guy. He is also the waiter and chef. I’ve seen a woman(maybe his wife) when I’ve peered into the kitchen, but she has never come out into the dining area. The last time I dined here and talked to the owner, he told me that he plans to change the menu and offer healthy options. I told him the egg rolls were so good, and he said«but it’s not healthy, too much oil, not good for your body!» I don’t care if it’s healthy; I’m trying to satisfy my taste buds! My only complaint is this restaurant is not open consistently and does not follow its own business hours. I have come four times before in the course of a year, only to find the restaurant was closed. One time there was a sign that said they were closed that Sunday and Monday. But the other times, there was no sign, so I had to sadly turn my car around and settle for Vietnam Kitchen. Other notes: the restaurant itself is rather small. If it’s busy, you can order take out. Also, seat yourself.

Had to try the bun bo hue, was nice and spicy. The broth was quite decent. The wait was long(we got in at 11 on Sun so that could be why) for noodle soup. Vietnamese coffee, ok, would have preferred to make it myself with the mini-French press. Walked out extremely full. I’m gonna try the pork/shrim/fried egg rice dish next time. Hard to pass up fried egg.

I walk into this little hole in the wall, grab a seat at one of the half dozen tables. The one waiter walks over and asks if I’ve ever had Vietnamese food before. He again asks the same question when I give him my order… I guess they have a bunch of people that have no clue coming in? I dunno. I ordered vermicelli with pork and chopped egg rolls. I doused it with the fish sauce and dug in. The bowl was enormous. I felt embarrased that I ordered a Bahn Mi sandwich too. I had enough for at least 2 people. The food is good… The place seems sketchy but I wouldn’t hesitate on stopping in again. But beware, service is slow. So if you’re nearby in a tight window to catch a flight, you might try somewhere else.

Vietnamise rookie here to tell you that Phở Binh Minh is fantastic. Loved some Banh Mi and Phở’s was pretty good, their Phở Tai was amazing! It reminded me of soups my grandmother used to spend all day making, but with flavors that fresh and not so heavy. Kevin, the guy in the front and probably the cook, took time to explain everything. He even brought ingredients out to show me. Thanks Kevin, I’ll definitely be back!

What a surprising hole-in-the-wall kinda joint! We happened upon this place after searching a while for a place to eat. We were supposed to eat Vietnam Kitchen, but it was closed due to family vacation. Not complaining since they are a great family run business. We were still in the mood for some tasty Vietnamese. So, we ended up going here since it was close by. I’m an adventurous kinda guy that has eaten at many establishments, but at first glance, I thought my date was gonna bail on me for taking him here. The restaurant is situated in an old building that houses a grocery store on one side and the restaurant on the other. The decorations in the place in the place were a bit shabby, but we made our way to a nice little table upon entering this small place. To my surprise, this was so authentic! The server was not only very knowledgable but also very funny. He warned my date that his soup might be a little too spicy, which only made him want it even more since he likes a challenge. he sold us on an appetizer and two entrees, and we left feeling stuffed to the brim with yummy goodness! I will definitely keep this in mind when dining in the area again ;-).

The phở is legit, my friends! I’ve had a lot of phở and i have to say this is the best in Louisville. It’s done perfectly, it’s cheap, comes with all the fixins, and the employees/owners are very friendly. I recommend thin raw beef, and LOTS of hot sauce and hoisin. I don’t think many Americans put hoisin on their phở, and then complain about it being bland! You’re doing it wrong!

The aroma hits you straight off when you arrive; that pleasant, been working on Phở all day for you aroma!!! They even have a garden out back just to from some real Vietnamese Cilantro! Wow gotta come back when that is in season. They procure it from Florida in off season. If they take that much pride in a side piece some skip on ponder how good the broth is? Man this is art in a bowl! Everything has all the subtle detail. The house hot sauce in the little dish adds just the right spice not too much heat. Want the heat, ask for the back house stock. Beware the owner does not set it out on purpose. His stories and demeanor are quite welcoming. I tip my hat to this place. Summed in one word, «pride!» I can’t wait to come back.

Delicious Food. Went there with someone else and ordered calamari, spring rolls, and 2 bowls of phở(I got the Large — it is pretty dang Large). They were all great and worth the price I paid. The only quips I had was that the broth didn’t seem as rich as other places I had been. It wasn’t watered down per se, but I just didn’t get the richness I’ve had at other places. Secondly, someone else mentioned it, but there wasn’t as much meat as other places i’d also been to. But still it was worth it and a place i’ll be coming back to. The waiter is pretty awesome, and as a tip, make sure you get the spring rolls, $ 3 for two, it’s the best bang for your buck in the appetizer section.

Phở. Very friendly family run restaurant. Maybe only 12 seats in the place. Eat Louisville ‘s best phở and enjoy cartoon network in the background.

Good food, good service and more than just soup. There is plenty of parking and a small grocery in the same strip so convenient too. I had a nice spicy chicken dish as well as crispy fried squid and both were very tasty. I’ll be back here again.

Awesome phở. The place looks a bit sketchy but the guy taking the order(and possibly cooking the food) was very helpful(even if he was a bit short at times). The hot sauce in the pot on the table — that stuff is awesome. «Not too much» he told me. Try it with everything. Get the tripe. Get the tendon. It’s all so good.

I AMINLOVE!(First off– I’m originally from San Francisco & San Jose has some of the best Vietnamnese restaurants– so that’s what I based my flavor preference on.) I was craving bun bo hue really bad so my husband had to drive me all the way out to here to get some! It was definitely worth the hour half drive– their bun bo hue broth was flavorful and made to perfection. The pork blood was fresh and plump. Definitely a hole in the wall place– where the husband took the order then went in the back to help his wife? cook the food. He’s a funny guy– still working on his english, but it didn’t matter to me because his food was amazing! I will come back here when I can!

Wow! That was great. Best bun bo hue I’ve ever had. The broth was fantastic. Full of flavor and a bit of heat. The vegetable tray was very fresh. Bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño, leaf lettuce, lime and some dried stringy fungus. I have no idea what the fungus was so into the pool it went with everyone else. The soup had a round of emulsified pork sausage in it. Very tasty. In addition to the lean beef it had another addition that I had never had. I recognized it right away. It was jellied pigs blood. It has the texture of soft tofu with an iron taste to it. Don’t let it freak you out. You could easily scoop it out if you don’t want it. Take it home for your dog. Careful, he might tear your arm off for it.

I have been on a search for great Phở in Louisville. I would rate the Phở at Phở Binh Minh as good. The stock was good, appeared to be made on the premises, instead of canned stock or beef bullion. There wasn’t much meat in the Phở and there could have been more noodles. The basil and bean sprouts served as a garnish were fresh. A couple of things hurt their rating by me. Their health score in Unilocal is 90, this score is fair to perhaps a little generous. My table could have been cleaner. The server/front desk man appeared to br distracted by my presence. He never refilled the water glass or checked back with me. Instead he dedicates one of the customer tables to a computer, a four top table. He spent way more time on the computer gaming, blogging, or whatever, than waiting on me. There are only 12 seats for customers after you take away the four top dedicated to the computer. I was there about an hour and was the only eat in customer and there was one takeout order. The menu for lunch seemed pretty comprehensive and prices fair. Would I drive 30 minutes back to Phở Bihn Mihn for Phở, the answer is no,

I came here to eat with a really low expectation but ended up walking away very satisfied. I like the spring roll which was fully packed with fresh greens, rice noodle, shrimps and accommodated with a really good peanut sauce. My sister wasn’t happy though since there was no meat in the spring roll like it suppose to. The Phnom Penh noodles/huu tieu nam vang that I ordered was also very good. The broth was seasoned well and that’s what really matter when it comes to Vietnamese soup noodles ! The vegetable plate that came with it was fresh with varieties– a plus for me. I also had a taste of my friend’s bun Bo hue which I thought was good, too. I will definitely come back to try other dishes!

This place is such a hole in the wall that it makes Vietnam Kitchen look like fine dining. The space is tiny, with only four or five tables and the bright blue walls with lighthouse trim would look more at home in a daycare than in a Vietnamese restaurant. But the ambiance is not why you go here, the food is. Their phở is amazeballs. Just a little bit of beef fat floating on a crystal clear broth, I was nervous because I’m used to a brown, cloudy broth full of star anise and spices. Instead I received a lightly spiced, beefy, flavorful broth that begged for me to eat more. It was addictive, especially when doctored with the plentiful basil and cilantro they provide. The beef was thinly sliced and half raw when served, so I could watch it slowly cook in the warm soup. I literally ate so much as to make myself sick. My husband’s lemongrass beef stew was similarly delicious, with a clear broth covered in bright red chili oil. It was not as spicy as he prefers, but the fresh jalepenos, siracha and chili paste provided helped him with that. He managed to save more for leftovers than I did, but not much. He could not stop raving about his Vietnamese coffee, declaring it the best he’s ever had. All in all, this place is much more specialized than VK. The menu is small and is mostly soups and stews, but what they do, they do right. I have not had such good phở since DC and I will definitely be back for more.

I live in Houston where there is a big and vibrant Vietnamese community so I’m usually hesitant to eat Vietnamese food in small cities. My prejudice is based on past experience where I have made mistakes by going to a Vietnamese restaurant in a small city where the lack of exposure to Vietnamese cuisine may exaggerate the qualify of the food, thus resulting in higher rated reviews. But not wanting to drive to far from the airport for my early morning flight, I decided to give this restaurant a try. I came on a slow night where there was only one other table with customers. This restaurant had«dive» written all over it, which could be a good thing. The owner, Kevin, gladly greeted me but looked at me suspiciously, as though he had not seen another Vietnamese person in years. Since I spoke the native tongue, I asked him pointedly what was good tonight, specifically mentioning the phở or the bun bo hue, as opposed to just ordering from the menu. I know that not all batches of phở or bun bo hue comes out as planned and it’s often difficult to get a consistent product. He bluntly told me that the Mi Bo Kho or lemongrass beef stew with egg noodle was good and his wife was putting on the finishing touches. It was probably going to be their dinner. I took his recommendation and order it, along with the beef banh mi, based on other reviewers recommendation. The banh mi confirmed my prejudice in that it was just average, severely lacking in protein and the pickled vegetables and herbs. The bread was good but for $ 3.50, they would not survive selling this banh mi in Houston or California. Too expensive for what you get. On the other hand and to my pleasant surprise, the Mi Bo Kho was the best I’ve ever had. I had to skim off the fat top layer of the broth first to get to the sweet, heavenly beefy broth below. Kevin asked me if wanted the dish more authentic, in adding unctous bone tendons. I told him I would and the dish turned out to more of what I would eat in my mother’s kitchen than what one would normally eat in a restaurant. In conclusion, I want to give a big thumps up to Kevin and his wife in serving good Vietnamese food in Louisville, KY.

Just had lunch here… mmmmmm…just like I remembered it: the best Vietnamese in Louisville for food AND service. There is just nothing like stepping into a place and feel so warm and welcomed by the owner. Due to the long overdue visit, I went for the gluttonous special today: soft rolls, bun bo hue and one of the com dish. The rolls were good but not much to talk about compared to the bun bo hue and com. Bun bo hue: a noodle soup with a spicy broth and sliced brisket and beef meatball. This description is a bland, pale version of the actual dish itself. The broth is thick like silky sauce. No doubt from the long simmering of beef bones, tendons and juicy brisket. Add that to slippery rice noodles, brisket slices and meatballs and those fresh herbs. What a perfect pick me up for this dreary day. Com: Com is a dish with steamed rice and various toppings of your choosing. I got the one with grilled pork chop, fried egg, shredded pork, meat roll and shrimp. I have to start with the rice. So many places(even the good ones!) use the cheapest long grain gringo rice, it has made me numb to the stuff. But Phở Binh Minh uses the good stuff! The kind that SE Asians actually use in their homes. Yes, the rice made me smile. The pork chop was grilled perfect with sweet savory char; the egg still runny; the meat roll was tasty and texture-rich. Another perfect meal at Phở Binh Minh! It was totally worth the gluttonous guilt and sodium intake.
