On January 30th the Dixie Highway Target store ended it’s nearly fifty year run in Southwest Louisville. They were always friendly, helpful, and well stocked. There aren’t many places left that I can remember my mother taking me to when I was a child. The store’s final days showed it’s age, the reason the manager gave us for closing was the landlord refused to fix the air conditioning and the leaks in the roof. He said that someday Target may find another location to open on Dixie Highway, but they could no longer invest in a store where the landlord continued to raise the rent and not maintain the building adequately. I am giving them five stars for all the memories… I furnished my first apartment with furniture from this store. As I looked at it this morning, the sign gone from it’s façade and the dark clouds above the store I feel saddened at the loss of this business in my community. This is probably the last review it will be given, but thank you for an incredible, nearly 50 year, run. I have it on good authority that many of the employees there were at the age of retirement. Those who chose to stay with target were moved to other stores and no one lost their jobs due to the store closing. This, and the projects that they did with the elementary schools in the area, shows what a class act they were. They will be missed.

I love Target but this location is gross and in desperate need of a remodel, the half assed remodel they did last year just isn’t cutting it. Customer service at this location is certainly lacking. I bought a blanket from this location, took it home, unwrapped it and was prepping the washer to wash it, when I looked over my 3 year old was trying to get a SYRINGE that was stuck inside the blanket! I immediately took it back to Target, they offered me my money back and would NOT let me file a report with the store. In fact, the customer service lady took the syringe out of the blanket, threw it in the trash(not properly disposing of it) and wrapped the blanket back up to be restocked! Also, this Target location is always a billion degrees! It’s so hot in here I almost always end up with a headache and my kids end up complaining about being too hot, even the cashiers claim about it being hot.

Target is amazing! I am sure my checking account thinks differently. But who cares! We should go right now… Beat you there!

I love Target… it’s the best of the discount department stores. I’ve always appreciated the fact that Target stores look good and provide a pleasant shopping experience. Just because it’s a «discount» department store doesn’t mean it has to look sloppy. So, if you are a Target shopping, you pretty much already know what to expect and are familiar with the layout. This particular store is probably one of the oldest in the city(and maybe THE oldest). While most other Targets have been remodeled to follow a common layout that includes a full line of groceries, this Target, so far, has been sadly overlooked. It has not seen a remodel in several decades now. With that said, this is still a very nice store. And though it does not have the full line of groceries, it still manages to pack in a small selection of groceries, plus nearly the same amount of merchandise found at most other Target stores.
