I’m a casual listener of classical music. My 3 go-to radio stations in Louisville are 89.3, 90.5, and 91.9. All public stations; 90.5 being the classical music station. I listen to it fairly frequently, mainly whilst driving in the car. I have an appreciation for the genre. I find it beautiful. Louisville Philharmonia gives you the full experience, that you need to experience if you’ve never been to see a live orchestra. The music is powerful. Literally. You can feel it in your chest. Seeing it live gives you a new, deeper appreciation for the genre. The people at LP recognize that most people are likely casual listeners of the genre, so they throw us a bone when they perform, and they’ll play a recognizable piece. It’s a nice touch. You also cannot beat free. I’ve been to a few LP events, and have never had to pay a dime. But your donations are welcomed. Free concerts by a full orchestra several times a year, playing some of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written by some of the most esteemed writers in music/world history, and all right here in Louisville. How could you honestly not love it?
