I’m not a fan of pizza, and not yet have I found good pizza like the pizza from Miami. Until my boyfriend dragged me into this place. I walk in into this super low key, cash, worn out looking spot and order a large cheese pizza. I had a Greek salad with grilled chicken. The pizza’s crust was fluffy and soft. The thin pizza was delicious. The combination between the«sweet» tomato sauce and the saltiness of the cheese was an incredible combination. right there and then is when I learned that the sauce and a good dough it’s what makes or breaks a pizza, forget the toppings, is all on the soft dough and good flavor of the sauce. My salad was really good, considering it’s a pizza joint, the salad was above expectations and the grille chicken was great. Highly recommend this spot and when in Lowell, and when craving pizza I’ll be running to espresso.

The sweetness is a little funky, but the service is great and the prices are very fair.

Grew up on this pizza. Very good. Employers are not well presented and groomed. Place is very grimy. No receipts when you make a purchase. Pizza did taste fresh but I question how this establishment passes the board of health inspection. My guess is they are friendly with them and I am certain the board of health inspector is a regular here. I can’t just isolate this place, the health inspector in Lowell either doesn’t give a shit or has way too much work to handle or he’s getting kick backs from these establishments. This place needs a hot soapy rag and to go top to bottom because over the past 25 years since they been here I highly doubt a rag has been used in its entirely. Sell me the recipe and I will take this gold mind to an upscale community where I can become successful and wealthy.

I think this is the best pizza place in Lowell. I love the sweet sauce and their dough is good too. I always do takeout and parking can be tricky, but I usually manage to find a spot around the corner. One time I got the chicken parm pasta and it was very good! The sauce seemed home made and was different than the pizza sauce, but I liked it. The service isn’t anything special and same thing goes for the inside of the restaurant, but the food is so good I can overlook the unfriendly staff, bad parking, and old interior.

The service just keeps getting slower and slower. And they ask me three or four times how I want my sandwich and is it here or to go. And they want $ 15/hr?

Like the previous reviews said, the inside is kinda dirty. The service is fine, though. The pizza sauce is super sweet, which I personally don’t like(but others might). Just meh.

There is sugar in the sauce, lots of it. The pizza had a puffy big crust and was sickeningly sweet. A very unexpected noticeable flavor of sugar makes me think they buy their sauce from Macdonalds. Perhaps they pick up Mickey D’s ketchup packets and slather it on to hook children? One of the worst pizzas yet although I ate a couple of slices due to hunger :(

Same great taste for over 25 years… takeout requires creative parking… fast service… staff not as friendly as the old days

You either love it or hate it. I LOVEIT! I’ve been coming here for the past 18 years, when they sold pizza by the slice for $ 1.00. The pizza has a sweet sauce that some people loathe but I on the other hand is a HUGE fan. The plain cheese pizza is my favorite but sometimes I opt for the bacon and pineapple. Parking is a bit tough to get carry out so we always try to go with 2 people and double park. I wish they delivered! I only go for the pizza now but I used to go for the steak and cheese subs and those were a good size. The Cajun fries are also delicious.

I used to take my daughter here when we would walk downtown, but recently it looks like this place has lost its ability to remain clean. The workers are always filthy, tables are a mess and counters are sticky. We go to Tremont now. More money, but you get what you pay for.

Really, really good pizza. Their pizza is different in that they have a sweet tasting sauce on the pizza– not too sweet, but it makes the pizza taste that much better. Tend to order the meat pie or just cheese, neither one ever disappoints. It’s situated in a nice spot, near all the cool bars, hah! Try this place out if you want some good pizza.

I don’t usually rate pizza places, not because either I am an elitist or a food snob… Or maybe I am. Anyway I decided to try their grilled chicken pizza after tasting some of their pizza at a get together. I went to their location in lowell because they don’t deliver. It was worth it, they use a sweet sauce and the bread is so fluffy. It’s such a good pizza. Very very well priced and the person I spoke to on the phone quite pleasant. I like seeing places like this do something simple but still be very good. I will definitely come here whenever I am craving pizza. New place to come to now.

Parking is limited to the metered spots out front, or in the area. Try driving in during lunch hour and you’ll be pressed for a spot. If that’s the case, walk over or use(unreliable) Lowell transport. If you come later in the evening, you’ll fight traffic that goes into Centralville/Dracut, but there are plenty of spots to be found. H and I were coming from Chelmsford, so it was a quick drive in traffic. H made a to-go order on Friday evening for our weekly«Pizza Party Friday Night»(a tradition we brought with us from Connecticut) for a medium pizza half mushroom, half pepperoni. I remember coming to Espresso’s(or maybe it was another pizza joint in the same location?) when I was a kid. The interior is still dingy and dated… S’ok. Pretty much everything in downtown Lowell is like that. At the counter, I guess there was a mixup. The kid thought H said two mediums– one mushroom and one pepperoni and bluntly asked, «Well, which one do you want?» WHAT? You’re not gonna give the pregnant lady and her H the order they called in? … We bought both pizzas, but dang. Lack of customer service much? We brought the pizza home and it was a decent pizza overall… just wet. Like, there’s a LOT of sauce for the cheese to ooze off of. Moreover, the mushrooms were meh. I think they were chillin’ in that murky water too long. The pepperoni was ok– typical pepperoni pizza. I liked that the bottom crust stayed crispy though. It’s often difficult to find a crusty pizza that drips sauce. I also liked that the sauce was sweet(my preference, to my H’s demise) with a tart twist. I’ll have to try one of the sandwiches next time I’m in the downtown area. Let’s see how fresh these ingredients are.

Chewy thick crust and a sweat sauce; big slices that are built for folding. That’s pretty much all you need to know. The pizza here is «da bomb». Some don’t care for it, but most live for it. They don’t do delivery and they are located in a tricky spot in downtown so my visits are less and less frequent. But if you’re looking for good pizza in Lowell, here you have it.

Heaven on a slice. It doesn’t get better than this. Traditional hand tossed pizza, delectably sweet sauce, right balance of sauce to cheese, and a great dough recipe. All of this adds up to the best pizza around, period.

Recently tried the pizza here and it is kind of a hot mess. The sauce was way too sweet, the crust too doughy and it was under cooked. The place also looked very dirty. I have had worse, but I certainly won’t be going back.

AWESOMEPIZZA! Sweet sauce, thin not chunky, soft well risen crust. People working were fast and courteous. Love this pizza. I wish the seating area was more relaxed, it is set up for quick food. I was able to get two pizza’s with one topping on each for $ 20.00. Great food and affordable.

Holy shit. This place is legit. Awesome, saucy, hot and really good pizza. It deems itself as «Lowell’s Best Pizza» and I would agree. I will not need to try any other pizza but Espresso when I am in Lowell. A couple Lowellians told us it was the best. They did not lie! It was cheap. This place was crowded but I didn’t care. This pizza is good! Plus they have diet coke(fountain) not pepsi. Thank you for that, Espresso pizza gods.
