I have been a big fan since they first opened up many years back. I first meet the owners Paul and Stacy in the stores early years. Back then they were running the show more, often there and without many other employees. I have always been impressed with their knowledge, energy and entrepreneurship skills. If by chance they didn’t stock something you wanted, it would be in store within a few days. Prices are a little higher than your typical grocery store but then again you don’t have to walk a football field to get what you need either. Most likely they will have what you’re looking for. The beer, wine and spirits selection is amazing. They feature several coolers filled with a wide selection of beers both domestic and craft beers, plus they have a walk in cooler. You can make a craft beer mix-n-match to take home as a way of sampling different beers. They are said to have the largest wine selection in Michigan. For wine sampling, they will come to your house and host a wine sampling session. In addition to drinkable goodies, they also carry clever gift items, knick-knacks, cigars, kegs, and specialty collector swag. They will often hold events like beer and wine tours as well as brewing classes. They stock some brewing supply’s, mostly for craft bottling and not kegging. The do offer specialty grains and bulk base grains and also malt extract, hops, yeast and an on-site mill. Most anything else you need for basic home brewing of wine beer or mead. Pauly’s is a great addition to Lowell since the town has very little places that carry a special charm and family ownership. «Drink Whatcha Like» and long live Pauly’s !

This is probably the best liquor and beer store in the Grand Rapids area. Why? For starters, Stacy and Paul know their stuff on beer and wine in great detail. I once asked Paul to steer me to the best bourbon in the house back in 2010. He recommended George Stagg, which had a whopping 143 proof. I bought it for $ 68 and loved it. I’m glad he steered me that way because now that stuff is $ 800 a bottle if you can find it. If not for his guidance, I never would have known about that gem that has become the forbidden fruit due to its current demand as the high wattage big brother to Pappy Von Winkle bourbon. For your average person the best reason to come here is ALL of their beer is refrigerated, which I’ve never seen in any other beer store. With all of the hoppy beers that dominate the craft brew market, that is a huge benefit because hops fade fast and get weak if they aren’t refrigerated ASAP. If you want fresh beer that retains its hops character, look no further. If you fancy your beers to be old and stale due to sitting out at room temperature, go to the other 100 beer stores in the area. If you want your beers rancid and smelling like the hallway in a Medicaid nursing home, Pauly’s isn’t your place because they refrigerate the brews. Pauly’s is the probably the Grand Rapids’ area’s only purveyor of 100% refrigerated beer as far as high end beer stores are concerned. Greasy gas stations don’t count. It is a refreshing contrast to some places I’ve caught sweeping room temperature beers off with a feather duster.

At Pauly’s, I was like a kid in a candy store! Or, more accurately, like an alcohol-loving adult in an excellently-curated beer, wine, and spirits store! I had the good fortune to be introduced to Pauly’s and their staff from the Kent District Library’s excellent KDL Uncorked(wine) and KDaLe(beer) education programs. At both presentations, I was struck by the depth and breadth of knowledge of the Pauly’s representatives and really enjoyed the well-chosen samples that were brought from the store. After an early dinner in Ada, we headed to Pauly’s for weekend drinking provisions. The selection was very good and Goldilocks… not too big, not too small. No need to stock every single beer on the planet; I prefer a well-edited range. Pauly’s has one cooler devoted strictly to Belgians, a handful for craft, heavily Michigan. I found a few old favorites, stocked up on some New Holland Dragon’s Milk, and also tried a wild card, Wells Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale. Pauly’s is a little out of the way to be our regular store, but I’d definitely make special trips for specialty items, special events, and guests.

Pauly’s has a wonderful beer and wine selection. My favorite part about Pauly’s is talking to him or his wife about wine and beer. They are very knowledgeable and you can tell they love to talk about it. They are always so helpful to me when I come in there and am not quite sure what to get.

I love this place. When I go there I feel like a kid in a candy store. When they opened it was a breath of fresh air seeing the variety of beer they have. Since they opened it is no coincidence that Meijer added more beer to their selection(see what«The Little Guy» can do). I buy my beer from Pauly’s out of loyalty even tho they prices are slightly higher than Meijer.

For a little place on the edge of a small town, Pauly’s really has a great selection of beers and brewing supplies. While it may not match the size of big city stores, like Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, it still manages to provide a pretty impressive inventory for its size.

Found out about this place right before I visited Grand Rapids for the holidays and I’m sure glad I did. I usually go to Siciliano’s on Lake Michigan Dr., but Pauly’s is a lot closer to my inlaws house. They have a terrific beer selection here and the prices seem just a tiny bit higher than other comparable places. The service was awesome. I was greeted by someone while looking at the beers and told him I was from Texas. I aslo said I heard online they sometimes have stuff in the back that’s not on the shelf. He told me about a beer that’s pretty hard to find that they have in the back and I was thrilled! I also told him I was looking to expand my list of Michigan beers I have had and he proceeded to be a huge help. After coming here, I think it’s just as good as Siciliano’s minus all the beers being available as singles, which is completely fine since their single selection is pretty good.

Great ownership and cool staff. Awesome selection of beer and liquor Very expensive store because Lowell is a beer desert. They charge a premium price for everything that isn’t a BMC product
