Over 400 miles driven today, it was nice to finally cross over into North Carolina on I-​77 from Virginia. The Surry County rest area is one of the better ones as it does have the usual clean rest rooms and stocked vending machines, but it’s far enough from the highway that you don’t hear the road noise when you have your windows cracked and you’re catching some winks. As well, there are plenty of tall trees about so that you can be in the shade.

Very nice rest stop. It is kept very clean and has nice areas to walk and picnic. We always stop here when we pass through this area.
