Very good and fresh victuals are served at this converted house purposed as an eatery. The crowds show how popular and good it is. Parking can be tough. I have never been to a tea house before. Well, except for high tea in London I have not. They have what I have learned is the usual tea house fare of salads, quiche, sandwiches and soup. I got a special which was a Tex-Mex salad on a large tostada. It was really good. The ladies I was with got different quiches and salads. They reported that they were toothsome. Service is friendly and prompt. Our server anticipated our needs and took care of them. This was the best and friendliest service that I can remember at a restaurant. You do need to make reservations here because it is only open from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. But, if you are in the area, looking for a place to lunch, you might try this.

I haven’t been to many tearooms at this point in my life, but Mar Teres is undoubtedly my favorite so far. The food is delicious no matter what you order, the wait staff is every bit of friendly Southern hospitality that exists, and the décor is the epitome of tearoom charm. My friends and I love getting together for a ladies lunch at Mar Teres when we’re all in town from college. If you’re any kind of fan of tea room cooking, you will probably enjoy the food here. Some of the popular choices include the chicken spaghetti, the broccoli salad, and the assorted quiches. My personal favorite is the chicken salad sandwich. However, you MUST try the almond tea! I’m not even a big tea drinker, but I love the almond tea at Mar Teres. Fair warning – if you’re not big on sweetness, this tea might be a little too sweet for you. Still, I’d say it’s worth a taste. Lastly, a small bit of advice. This tearoom is pretty popular with the locals, so it can get busy. This is partly due to their limited hours(I think it’s 10am – 2pm on Saturdays). Most of the time, you need to make a reservation the day before. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait long for a table or food, but I wouldn’t recommend going there as a walk-in.

Try the quiche! All of the teas that I tried were exceptional. The staff is always warm and accommodating. Make sure you call ahead and make a reservation, too. This place is popular for a reason! One of Lufkin’s gems.

The weekly specials in addition to the wonderful items on the set menu make this place a regular lunch choice for me. Definitely on of the top three eateries in the Lufkin area.

Great food and amazing desserts. Chicken salad, chicken spaghetti, iced tea, apple walnut salad, quiche, and chocolate cake all on the point! If you like almond tea it’s good ask Rachele. Check this place out!
