Admittly we were very hungry but we all felt the food was great. Reasonable prices and the margarita wasn’t too shabby. Our waiter was fast, friendly and attentive

Me and the family have been here probably 10 different times. The food is average to okay overall. Some things are pretty good, and some items that are not that great. I have been to all the other Mexican restaurant in Lumberton too. None of their food is what I would call great. Rafael’s does need some repairs and updating, like the bathrooms. The service though has always been top notch. Everyone is courteous, helpful and friendly. Food comes out fast too. Service may not be important to some people, but after going to some places in Lumberton and never getting any food, its important to me. We will keep going and just order the food we have learned that is pretty good and avoid the others.

Nasty place. Horrible food. So bad we got up and left without eating(never done that before). Ordered spinach dip with chips as an appetizer. They brought out a small bowl of the most discusting thing I’ve ever seen. Looked and tasted like they opened up a can of cheese, poured it into a bowl, added some frozen chopped spinach and threw it in a microwave for a minute. It was not edible. The salsa was terrible. Tasted like they opened a bottle of salsa and then cut it with tomato sause. We threw a few bucks on the table and left. We did not want to even attempt to order a plate there. I gave this 1 star because I do not have the option of zero. This place was probably the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to.

Rafael’s was good Mexican food. The hot sauce is sweet. Enchilada sauce is great! Quiet, warm, and private atmosphere for dinner with my hubby! They also have a bar if you want a drink! Great menu with lots to choose from.

I’ll sum this up in just a few short words. I’ll be back! Appetizer, main course and dessert was very good. The service was excellent and each and every employee or manager on duty was very attentive. Can’t go wrong here.

Best tex mex in town. I wouldn’t bother with crazy jose’s. Juan’s is a close second but Rafael’s tops them all. Cheap and consistent

Located where the Wagon Wheel Café once operated, Rafael’s has great food & excellent service. Nicely decorated interior & has drive thru window as well.

This is my now new favorite Mexican place! Food quality was superior and our waitress was very attentive and polite. Definitely will be coming back. I had the shrimp fajitas which were seasoned very well, and the shrimp were cooked nicely and not rubbery. I’d have liked to seen more bell pepper mixed in with the onion, but that’s a minor issue. The salsa and queso were good also. As far as Mexican places in Lumberton, I think this better than the rest. Highly recommended.

First time visiting Rafael’s — good experience! We live in Beaumont, but lately we’ve been trying to explore all the different Lumberton restaurant options. It’s nice to only have to travel a few extra miles to get something locally owned & different. We didn’t go inside the restaurant, but instead called ahead with our orders and went through the drive-thru on the side of the building — very convenient! It was hard to find an online copy of their menu, but we ended up finding a few photos of it on their Facebook page. Also, once we arrived, the lady who greeted us at the window was exceptionally friendly! Chips & queso was great! It tastes a lot like other queso I’ve had at other restaurants around town(similar to flavor of La Cantina’s version, but better). There were some vegetables in it, but overall it was very smooth, which I liked. One thing to note was that the chips that came with our orders were of a higher quality than chips you’d get at Casa Olé. They weren’t greasy. It seems like they give one bag of chips per entrée. We had way more chips than we needed, but it was nice to not to have to ration them. My husband got the chicken fajitas. He enjoyed them. He said they were flavorful and just as good as other chicken fajitas we’ve had around town. I ordered the tacos(on the menu, it’s called«Tacos Tacos»). They were fairly good. It looks like they put some veggies into the meat(bell pepper and slices of onion), which I personally don’t care for, but I know that a lot of people like their tacos this way. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. We always love the convenience of a drive-thru at a «real» restaurant(not fast food) on a busy day. I know that we’ll come back again!

Been to this place a couple of times. The food is good, served fresh and hot. Every time I have went, however, it has been takeout — so I am keeping the rating at 4 — since I do not know about the service. I can say those I have dealt with were friendly and efficient.
