This is probably the worst restaurant in the entire east coast. Bit of a stretch, I know, but it is. I had the chicken tenders, which tasted stale and store bought. For dessert I had the chocolate cake. I’m not even from Maryland and I can guarantee this is the worst of the state. A day after eating, I became incredibly sick for two weeks(which is incredibly long for what I had). I cannot even begin to explain the horror I had to endure because of eating here PLUS the illness. If you want to go here, BEWARE. All the other reviews are abnormal to this restaurant. BEWARNED.

The restaurant is dingy and a little outdated. There are flies on the floor and in the bathroom. Hopefully not anywhere else! Food was good, although there was an egg shell in my scrambled eggs. Great portion sizes after a day at Calvert cliffs and friendly staff.

This is the perfect place to stop for a hearty breakfast before heading to the local parks and attractions in the area. The service was warm and welcoming, and the food hit the spot. I had the country breakfast with fluffy pancakes and savory sausage that had a hint of sage. My husband had the country fried steak with a creamy sauce and tasty potatoes. Both left us full and happy!

GREAT breakfast! A local favorite based on the people we observed. We got there at the tail-end of a rush so we decided to sit at the counter. It was super busy so we did have to wait more than a minute before we were served. Servers are friendly and efficient. If you don’t like the look of mid-century fishing town diners then this place isn’t for you. We like this sort of place so it was right up our alley. The food was really really tasty. Eggs cooked perfectly(over medium). Bacon crispy but not greasy at all. Muffin and wheat bread toasted perfectly. Potatoes are cooked as home-fried parsley potatoes which are just right with the bacon and eggs. This place is so local they even have scrapple on the menu. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We will be back!!!

I am one of the«locals» that Unilocalers like to always mention eating there. But I rarely do. Went there the other day and ordered the chicken tender basket. Chicken tenders were not homemade and tasted like what I can buy in a big bag at a grocery store. Three words to describe their onion rings: bland, bland and bland. The coleslaw had a ton of mayonnaise. I overheard the owner talking down to one of the waitresses. Overall, it just seemed dirty. I don’t want to see a fly swatter hanging on the wall(in hallway to bathroom). It was winter so we sat near the counter — thinking it would be better than sitting near the main doorway. Wrong — people use the side door a lot — which lets the cold air directly in. My friend ordered green beans which came with some mystery cubed pork product.. As a local, I don’t see myself ever going back. If I want chicken tenders again, I will go to Boomerangs in Solomons.

I have been to the Frying Pan tons of times. Their breakfast has generally been worth the trip in. That said, we used to go their occasionally for dinner or lunch too. We went there about two weeks ago. Nobody was there but the cook and the defacto manager. They were standing outside having a cigarette as we pulled up. I ordered soft shell crabs of which I have always been a fan. I asked if they were fresh and was told yes. They were clearly frozen,(really flat, soggy, and an almost blackish color… and potentially bad. One bite unveiled an overwelming taste like amonia. Their soda fountain was broken so the fellow brought us cans. All told, I left feeling like I had just come and gone from one of Gordon Ramsey ‘s Kitchen nightmare episodes. This place is clearly not what it once was. In fact I honestly don’t know what it would take to ever return after this last experience. I do hope they make a comeback though as it’s a Lusby institution.

Great breakfast, loved the corn beef hash and Dianna kept the ice tea flowing. Not much to look at on the outside, cosy on the inside, and reasonably priced.

This place is exactly what it looks like from the outside– a dive. The food is ok. I had the pancakes which were good. My only complaint is that the place is kind of dirty– the bathroom stinks and there are tons of flies in the window.

This is a place for locals – I noticed it on a long bike ride – the parking lot was full and judging by who I saw this was not the weekenders(like me). That’s where I want to eat! That night I took the family and we all pigged out. There is everything from fried foods, typical diner fare and some down home options. Everyone’s meal was fresh cooked and well done. I had pot roast. The ony complaint was that it needed some salt and pepper, but otherwise was good. A HUGE portion that was sandwiches for two days of work the next week. Our group had some home cooked pan fried chicken that was delicious. It really was a great meal and very good service. It is always nice to support a local place(n a world full of chain restaurants.

I’m on the area visiting for work. With 40+ reviews and 4+ starts, I thought this works be a good place for dinner. Famous last words. I ordered the specials of the day, crab soup and baked chicken. The soup was a salty mismatched stew, and it tasted like last week’s takeout. The baked chicken was totally uninspired, more boiled than baked, and tasteless, except for a bit of a funny flavor at times. Decent coffee, and the whole experience was cheap. I don’t care how many Unilocal stars this place has, I’m never coming back.

It’s a perfect small town diner with that old country feel. Breakfast is what you would expect, simple and comforting staple items that warm you up and fill you up before heading out hunting or some other adventure. Place was packed with locals… They must be doing something right. :) The staff is friendly beyond compare, everybody behind the counter seems to know and like one another which keeps the atmosphere quite positive. :) I believe Holly was my waitress and she was amazing, prompt, efficient, and most of all possessing a quality smile and concern for each individual. You can either sit at one of the many tables or at the high bar in the back which was where I chose to perch myself. Definitely got a good feel for the place, lots of great conversations happening all around me, I just liked it.

Only giving this place 2 stars because it was cheap. Came here for breakfast. I got the french toast with a side of bacon and my girlfriend got the pancakes with a side of bacon. The french toast was easily the worst I’ve ever had and the pancakes were very doughy. Not sure how you can screw up simple breakfast items. Bacon was decent at least. My other friend enjoyed her creamed chip beef. Service was good enough. The waitress was smart enough to give us a pitcher of iced tea. The place has a charming run down look to it.

This lovely little place is right next to Calvert Cliffs. As the name describes, stuff here is fried. A bunch. But: you know that going in, and it’s very tasty food. I got the pulled pork in an attempt to be healthy and my friend got the fried fish sandwich. We were delighted with our meal and the waitstaff was über friendly. Definitely the best choice for a tasty, down-to-earth, local meal by the park.

Oh where, oh where do I start… Well, what happens when you are in a small town, hungry & looking for a place to fill your belly. You trust your fellow Unilocalers and decide to stop in at The Frying Pan for a New Year’s Day breakfast. I have to admit when I first arrived, I was a little taken back by the rustic curb appeal but knew that the food must surely offset the modest nature of the eatery based on the 4-star rating. Never judge a book … right? Inside is just simple with southern comfort. The walls are covered with vintage(circa 1950−1960s) water color paintings in what looks like its original framing. Low ceilings, 1970s natural wood walls & ‘70s vinyl tile flooring. It all adds to the appeal. The menu is a no frills basic one-pager breakfast menu. A short stack of 2 with home fries is $ 3.99& the service g was generous. The pancakes were airy and melted in my mouth. Turkey sausage tasted homemade with a hint of sage & other seasonings I can’t readily recall. Although the oj was not freshly squeezed, it tasted like the oranges just came from a tree in sunny Florida. The service was adequate but their was one waitress serving 10+ tables so you can’t blame her for looking a bit frazzled. She was however pleasant, responsive and attentive. It was impressive that the owner came over to our table to see how our meal was and the experience. I was impressed because this usually happens in a 4 or 5 star restaurant not a small town restaurant/diner. What a nice touch… Thank you fellow Unilocalers, you were on point with this restaurant recommendation. The Frying Pan is small time goodness with no pomp and circumstance however; with Real food, Real folks and Real good.

I have eaten at The Frying Pan several times with my family. The food is tasty and the service is always friendly. The locals eat here. The atmosphere is that of a small town, family run, hole in the wall comfort food restaurant. I have heard that the breakfasts are really great. I have also heard that they make really good biscuits. However I think they are only available on the weekends. I can’t wait to eat there on Saturday morning. We have been to The Frying Pan for dinner only. It is never crowded at that time. I highly recommend getting the fried chicken. It is a half of a small chicken. The skin was soo good and crunchy while the meat was nice and moist. It came with two sides. I ordered the fries and green beans. The green beans were good but the fries were limp and soggy. Don’t get the fries, get any other side. The last time we ate there I ordered the fried seafood platter. It came with a big piece of fish, a good sized crab cake, shrimp, scallops and sides. It was a lot of food and it was all cooked well. My wife ordered the pork chops. They were good but small in size. My son got the kids wing-dings and apple sauce. He’s a picky eater and he ate everything. The apple sauce was really good. I think it was homemade. It wasn’t the same consistency as jarred apple sauce it was chunky and delicious. I Definitely recommend The Frying Pan! Get the fried chicken!(Stay away from the fries)
