River Mill Tavern & Tables

I ate there last night with friends. The service and food were very good. We shared the calamari appetizer, it was bland and nothing special. I had the Steak sandwich, it was a slam dunk, I will have it the next time I go back. Our waitress was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxing and the décor very nice. They did not have my choice of beer (Stella) but the barmaid let me taste something similar which worked out well (Palm).

Big bar, great food and best of all you can find a spot to park on the street or in the parking lot. So much better than driving around looking for a spot to park in RVC! Been back twice already.

A great place for drinks and apps, but wouldn’t return for food.
The gf and I came here having passed it multiple times. It’s in an odd sort of place. On Ocean, but away from things, in a residential location. It’s attractive from the outside, which is what made us finally stop in.
Going inside you’ll notice that the décor is excellent. It gives you a sense that you’re in a modern old school tavern. This whiskey bar, old tavern, prohibition era style is what I expect they are going for and they succeed. The front of house has a good bar with some high-​tops. The back is home to a long dining room. We chose to sit in the back.
For apps we went with the mac and cheese. Food – a cheese burger and buffalo chicken flat bread. The mac and cheese was good. Note: it def a table share. It’s a large portion and I’d say, worth the price. The gf’s flat bread was good, but not great. My burger was disappointing. Didn’t feel the burger was seasoned well if at all. The fries were not seasoned well either, again, if at all. They were fried to perfection though. I hate soggy fries. These fries were well done and crispy, but not burnt.
Drinks were good and they have a nice menu with a healthy selection as well. I went with their signature Manhattan. It tasted like a Manhattan. The gf had a pumpkin martini that tasted like vodka.
Service started off shaky, but came around. The girl attending us seemed like she’d like nothing better than to go home. Took her a bit to get around to us and when she did come around to take our drink order, I had to point out that she never gave us drink menus. After that though, she was well engaged and attentive. I’d def go back.
This is a nice place that I’d love to go back to and try a few more of their signature drinks. I don’t think I’d have any food beyond an appetizer or two though. Also, this is a place I’d consider to host an event.
PS: looks like this place is all residential street parking, which is plentiful. Also, bonus points for the cool menus.

A friend picked this place because it was located near where I had an appointment. It is definitely a word of mouth of place since it is so easy to pass by, I did. My friend loves this place and it was a great choice. This is a cozy neighborhood place, and I am sure the Holiday decorations added to the charm. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. The waitress (sorry, I forgot her name.) was lovely and added even more to the warm and welcoming experience. Everything was just perfect for an unpretentious, local restaurant, except one thing… The accoustics was really bad. Hopefully they will figure out how to fix it. I will be back for sure and I will make sure to perpetuate the «word of mouth» this sweet restaurant deserves.

Went here for the first time yesterday, and pleasantly surprised. Food is delicious, and everyone who works there was super sweet. Will definitely be back again!

Great food nice atmosphere little loud almost like going to the city but it’s around the corner

My wife and I were looking for a «new favorite», and discovered River Mill Tavern & Tables. We came here for lunch. The decoration is beautiful and elegant — old world farmhouse style. We ordered the wings for an appetizer and they were sweet, spicy and savory in a sirachia butter — delicious. For lunch we had burgers — and they too were terrific and served in a unique presentation of tin bowls with frying baskets full of French fries. Service was very friendly and we enjoyed our first visit here. Happily, we found a «new favorite» indeed.

Great atmosphere. Very warm and cozy and surprisingly bigger than I remember it when it was the Swiss Tavern.
I had the crab cakes which were delicious. I asked for it without the mango pepper salsa and I feared it may be bland without that, but it was very tasty. The Cacio e Pepe shrimp and pasta was also delicious.

Just ate at River Mill and each dish was better than the next. Cuban Naan was awesome and so was Short Rub Tacos and Chicken Schnitzel. Pecan Bourbon pie was great too. Michelle our server was friendly, knowledgable and gave excellent recommendations. Will definitely be back!!!

I ate here two days ago and my boyfriend and I shared appetizers and a dessert. We ordered the Mac and cheese and the wings for the apps and they were each amazing! We ordered the funnel cake fries for dessert and it was absolutely addicting! It wasn’t too busy when we went and the service wasn’t that attentive; however we weren’t sitting in the dining area — but rather in the bar area. That may have been what it was but the atmosphere was comforting and they had a good beer selection… I suggest trying the «pumpking» pumpkin beer. Was a great dining experience!

This place is awesome!!! Very clean and beautiful décor, very comfortable but not lazy at all. My boyfriend, his mother and I ate dinner here last night and it was so delicious. HUGE portions! We ordered wings for an appetizer and they were great. High quality meat, with a high quality bleu cheese (and the vegetables on the side were clean and cut very nicely). I dont know if there is a standard size but they came with atleast 15 wings. For dinner we got the surf n turf, waygu steak special and the Maryland crab cakes. Everything was literally amazing. The short ribs from the surf n turf were incredibly tender with great flavor and the shrimp were cooked to perfection. The enticing waygu flap steak special was very soft and savory. The dish comes with goat cheese/​beet ravioli which i wasn’t much of a fan of but my boyfriend’s mom enjoyed them very much. My Maryland crabcakes were so exquisite omg. Two huge lump crab cakes over aioli with mango salsa. Very generous servings of deliciousness. They were incredibly juicy and fresh! Went to MA this summer and these crab cakes were seriously better here than when I went there! My boyfriend kept asking for more haha. Would have gotten desert (funnel cake fries or breme brulee) but we were stuffed! Definitely saving room for them next time though.
This place seems like it’s doing very well. The dining room was packed by 7pm on a Wednesday night and now i know why!
2 huge thumbs up to this place and I highly recommend. Must come back soon to see Frank. This is a great place!

Yes Yes, Lynbrook USA has a really good Tavern that could very well be in Manhattan or London. Nice décor, vibe and friendly people. The menu is eclectic with something for everyone at reasonable prices. I was impressed especially after trying other horrible pubs once in a while on Atlantic Avenue. This place is different and will be around and draw a crowd on weekend niights. Good place for guys, dates, families etc…
Had a flatbread, my fiancé had a big salad and I was jealous of the burgers flying by that I didn’t order cause I keep a lid on my red meat. Next time I’m gettin one for sure.

Had an excellent dinner there tonight. (It’s where Swiss Tavern used to be, and right on the way to the Malverne Cinema for me; very convenient.) Extra points for having its own parking lot too!
We had the Cacio e Pepe Shrimp and the Jagerschnitzel (which was part of their Oktoberfest menu) — both were generous portions and very tasty! The waitress never told us about specials (I was sorry when I heard one of them was tuna; would have liked to try that) but the service was excellent and everyone was very warm and welcoming. Generous pours on our cocktails too. There were lots of interesting things on the menu — if I’d had more time, I’d definitely have tried an appetizer.
We will be back!

My wife and I had brunch at the Rivermill this morning. I ordered the morning frittata, my wife, the French toast soufflé.
Shortly after ordering, a corn bread, enough for 4 people was brought to our table still hot in a cast iron crock: flavorful and moist.
Our selections were accompanied by a platter of perfectly crisp bacon, 4 – 5 nice sausage links and a good portion of breakfast potatoes.
Service was warm and attentive, the food was hot and delicious, and we can’t wait to go back.
Normally, my wife enjoys simpler fare, omelets, eggs up, and we were assured by the waitress that they’ll be happy to make anything you want.
We’re ver happy to have a delicious and comfortable alternative to the local diners and IHOP.

Was in Long Island with my colleague to visit a customer. After the meeting we headed to JFK for our flight back to LA. We were hungry and trying to find a place for lunch. The reviews look pretty good so we decided to give it a shot.
The menu looked quite attractive, but who’d have known the food would be so disappointing. We ordered the Bavarian Pretzel, Crab Cake Capellini, and a Black and Blue Burger… The pretzel was pretty good, but the rest were just a disaster. The idea of the crab cake dish is good, but the execution is just terrible. There’s very very little crab, and the noodles were just tasteless. And the burger was overly cooked (I ordered medium)… So we both ate only less than ¹⁄₃ of our food. Very disappointing…

Great place, food is fantastic! Try the pretzel for sure, chicken schnitzel is amazing… staff is super friendly and always a solid place to come instead of the RVC craziness.

Service: Our waitress Rebecca catered well to my grandparents who are in their 80s, speaking slowly and clearly to them, and even going out of her way to adjust the dining room’s blinds. The bussing staff was also prompt to take away our finished items.
Food: My flounder sandwich was fresh off the boat. The Kung Pao calamari tasted authentically Chinese. My fiancée’s ahi tuna salad was also delicious. And my grandmother devoured her scallops.
Ambiance: The mood was relaxed, chill, and cool.
Yes, my family and I will be back!

Very good food, very clean and certainly not your average bar. Pulled pork tacos were amazing and so was the broiled fish. Beers on tap were good all around. I’m not sure I would order the trio of dips again as they were just ok.
Parking lot was a plus too. Will definitely return again with my buddies in the fall during football season!
