The Neighbors Place

Not bad but not awesome. Hubby ordered California scampi– mussels, shrimp, scallops in a cream sauce over pasta. He loved it. I had Chicken florentine– chicken Brest with spinach and cheese. I had broccoli and green beans as sides. The veggies were cooked perfectly, but the chicken was like shoe leather. Dry and chewy. Service was great. Might come back and try a different entrée next time.

Best food! My favorite place to go! The stir crazy neighbor is to die for! My husband loves the chicken wraps and sweet potato casserole! Never had a bad item or bad service here!

Our business has ordered from Neighbors several times and the food was excellent. The person taking the orders over the phone was nice. We received all of our orders correctly and the food was excellent. I would recommend them highly.

Went for apps and drinks during happy hour with the girls. I was looking forward to the cucumber martini which I had never tried before. Supposed to be mulled cucumbers, gin and some kind of sweet syrup. Well, when I took the first taste it was only straight gin. Not what I expected at all. Sent it back and the replacement wasn’t all that great either. $ 9 wasted. Then one of my friends ordered a bloody mary. Once again, pure vodka with a red tinge color and a ton of salt on the glass and in the glass. Needless to say, after 3 attempts to drink it, she sent it back and settled for an iced tea. Pub pretzels with cheese were good. The asian egg rolls were dripping in grease.

American. Call it a 2 – 8 on the rating scale.
The Neighbors Place is situated in an area that was pretty much built out of nothing and it is tucked behind a BP station so it can be a little hard to spot from the road.
The place has a large dining room, an outdoor terrace and a pretty good sized bar area on the right as you walk in.
The bar area goes late, which in Lynchburg, is anything past 11pm. Bartenders are decent and there are usually drink specials — but the later crowd tends to be pretty young with a lot of drinking going on.
The dining side has pretty good wait staff. There is a fairly extensive menu and the food can be hit or miss. I wouldn’t call it terrible, but I would not classify it as very good. Definitely a 3-​star menu and depending what you order, your results will go up or down.
Veggies all tasted like they were from a frozen bag as did most of the apps. Mains were better but not outstanding. There are a lot of «Cajun» items on there, which experience has taught me over the years, to avoid unless you are actually in Louisiana. Burgers and sandwich items are probably your best bet.
Salads can be drowned in salad dressing — so order it on the side if you want dressing — which is standard restaurant protocol these days anyway for me.
Desserts are the usual suspects and get the job done.
Prices are a bit on the high side for the area.
Overall a middle of the road experience with many pre-​prepared foods. Higher prices but very good service.

This was expensive to say the least. The drink I got was amazing bad girl tini. However my hubs Long Island ice tea was awful. His steak was over cooked the beans were under cooked. My salad was soggy as all get out. They just dumped and dumped the Cesar on and it really was like it came out of a bottle. The salmon was very good just again over cooked. For lunch it was awful. I won’t be going back

Their cheesecake is out of this world good! So creamy and perfect texture! I order the jambalaya and it was excellent. Great flavor and big portion sizes so you are definitely getting your moneys worth. Went there for my birthday one year and the waitress brought me a drink on the house! Amazing drink too. It is a very noisy restaurant (popular bar area and young crowd) so if you are looking for a quiet evening out this is not the place to go. Would definitely go back again!

I’ve always heard great things about this place, and I was not disappointed! There’s so many different options you can choose from, but I ordered the California Scampi with a Lemon Drop drink.
Food: The scampi was amazing and one of the better pastas I’ve had in Lynchburg. The seafood seemed really fresh and it just melts in your mouth. There was so much of it too. it could have lasted me for two meals!
Drinks: I LOVE the outside sitting area with all the pretty lights and open space. The drinks are cheap and the bartenders make sure to get you your drink in time, even with all the people there!
¹⁰⁄₁₀ and definitely somewhere I would take my friends to. It’s a little pricey, but well worth your money!

Second time there and it’s always a great experience. Enjoyed time, food and atmosphere. See you soon.

I’m pretty close to this place geographically speaking so it’s convenient to call for carry out. The crab cakes are pretty great and the stadia pretty friendly. The food isn’t phenomenal, but I have also never had anything bad from here! The staff is kind and it seems to be always crowded. Oh let’s not forget! The cheese cake! And the asparagus! Get the asparagus!!!

Today is my husband’s birthday. We called this morning and made a reservation for 10 at 6 pm. We arrived at 6 pm and were seated immediately. Our waitress was patient with our large group (including 4 kids) and brought out drinks immediately. Our food was cooked well and the flavors were wonderful! It was a little noisy, but if we think about it, our ten probably contributed quite a bit to that! My husband and I have every intention of going back and sharing this experience with friends and family. Thanks!

Tonight I had a birthday party for 10 here. I called right when they opened to get a reservation and we were seated right away when we arrived. It was a wonderful experience. Service was great and fast. Food was great. My father’s steak was overcooked, but they asked if he wanted a refired one he said it was ok but to just let the cook know. But they did take it off the bill which we didn’t even expect. My only complaint is that I felt like because of the error, a manager should have at least come to the table since it wasn’t that crowded. Other than that it was great and we plan to be back.

Went for Mother’s Day dinner. The restaurant was a bit too noisy for my liking. I ordered a filet medium rare and it was definitely overcooked. By the time our server came over to check on our meal, I had already eaten about half. She offered to get me another one but I didn’t send it back because we were well into our dinner by then. My husband had the lamb chops which he enjoyed.
All in all, I thought the food was average for the price we paid and was somewhat disappointed.

Food is typically great, staff not so much. Kind of snobby. Salads are always a great choice! However, you just more more if you dine in, rather than take out.
My husband loves wings. I was never a huge fan… until I had the Thai wings from neighbors. They are amazing! Those and a salad makes a great meal!

I am an active duty service member and I recently returned from Afghanistan. While on post deployment leave, my wife and I met up with old friends at Neighbors for dinner. We ordered our food at 6pm and at 655pm we were told by the manager and six of his wait staff that we had to leave immediately because they had a private party coming in. We had not finished our drinks yet but immediately got up and left. When approached, the manager simply said «sorry there is nothing I can do!»
Please if you are in Lynchburg do not support this restaurant as long as they treat customers in such a fashion. I only bring up my military service because I am trying to make a point that this was a special occasion for us being that I just returned from overseas and we were trying to have a good time with friends.

Crowded. Noisy. Slow service. Decent food, if you can get it hot. Meh, meh, meh.

This place was ok enough because I was sharing time with really good friends and we had a lot to catch up on.
Upon arrival, the hostess looked at me like I had 4 heads when I asked for a table for 5. She said it would be 45 minutes to an hour before we would be seated because we had 5 people. So, the wait started. Table after table of people were seated, couples, parties of 4, on and on for over an hour. Finally, we were called to be seated. We were sat at a four top table with an extra chair pulled up to the end. All around us were the people that had came in long after we did all sitting at 4 top tables.
While the server was nice she had not one clue about the menu. We got our drinks and appetizer and finally our food. I asked for some bread and the server sort of acted like it was putting her out to go get it, we did not receive bread at all before the meal and I am certain we would not have never received it had I not asked. Once it came it was like a small loaf of wonder bread, no taste at all.
The food was just ok, nothing to complain about really but nothing special either. Actually, my pasta was pretty mushy and one friend said the slaw wasn’t up to snuff either.

Before checking out the J. Crew Factory Store we needed some nourishment and thanks to other Unilocalers, we chose the Neighbors Place. GREAT decision!
We both ordered cheese burgers with waffle fries. I know this is a huge statement giving how many burgers I have eaten, but this was one of the best! When I asked about my ‘missing’ mayo, the waiter told me the mayo was on the bottom of the burger hidden by cheese, so it would hit the proper part of my tongue/​taste buds. Hogwash? Perhaps, but the burger was awesome and this could have been part of the reason why.
The rest of the menu looked good and the dishes walked past our table looked yummy. Lots of other things to try when I come back — or I might just get another BURGER!
If you are in the Lynchburg area, The Neighbors Place is a must try.

I came here a while back to sit in their bar section so I could get a better view of the World Cup. What I gained in viewing time I lost in service. Don’t sit here if you want to feel welcome. People sit at the bar to order drinks, be left alone, order food, and be left alone again. You don’t want a chatty waiter when your purpose is just to watch Nigeria play their hearts out and kick international booty.
However, when I go to the bar area and order a drink I don’t want it twenty minutes later. I want it in less than ten so then I won’t care what you do for twenty minutes. Telling me that someone took my drink before you could grab it is a weak excuse and completely eye roll worthy. Especially when I saw you didn’t out the order in until a couple minutes ago! This place still gets three stars just because of my previous experience otherwise it would be two.
If you want great service, don’t sit at the bar. Oh, and order the hummus plate as a group appetizer. There’s plenty.
