One of the best Italian deli in the area! Top quality and always fresh food. I got food catered for Easter Sunday and everyone kept asking where it was from! Everything was great from the cold cuts platters to the fresh home made hot food. And their tiramisu and cookies are out of this world. Great job!!!

Save your money ! I ordered an Italian hero recently, thinking that would be a classic go-to sandwich at an Italian deli/market. Boy, was I wrong. The sandwich was filled with spoiled goods. The sopressata and ham was completely rancid and had a brown/slimey look and an overall gamey taste. The terrible smell of the cold cuts will remain imprinted in my mind for a long long time. That was 10 dollars thrown right in the garbage. Regardless of that, this was my second horrendous experience at this market after a previous issue with spoiled cheese and I can guarantee I will NEVER step foot back in there again. I have no idea if this spoiled sandwich was a result of the owner being unhappy with the fact that I had to take back the spoiled cheese I bought, but it is a possible thought.

Beware — this place is the worst must have low turnover and the food just sits. I ordered two sandwiches and we tossed both of them in the garbage. Never again.

This place is fabulous! My wife and I stumbled upon this place by chance, being that its across the street from where I take my dog to get groomed. I actually look forward to dropping money at the groomers, just to have the chance to drop by Borgo! My wife and I have been here several times. First let me say that the fresh mozzarella is exactly that! It’s fresh!!! It’s moist, wonderful and melts in the mouth, like butter. I had a hero today with fresh mozzarella, sweet capricola and balsamic vinegar. I could almost feel a tear of joy stream down my cheek. It was not just delicious, it was an experience! Enjoying that sandwich was tantamount to finding some semblance of nirvana. I also love their escarole and beans soup. It’s so amazing! Today happened to be one of the coldest days of the year. That soup was just what the doctor ordered! I’ve also tried the wedding soup. It’s A++mazing! The stuffed peppers are excellent! The staff are very courteous and attentive! Any joker posting 1 star fabricated«horror» stories should reinsert their head into their posterior, so as to spare the world from looking at their face. Go with the tried, tested and true! Honestly, Borgo and Lyndhurst Pastry are the two best things to ever happen to the township of Lyndhurst!

After reading reviews I am absolutely appalled that someone representing this business decided that it would be a smart idea to reply to a negative review in such a distasteful and unprofessional way. If they got a bad review and wanted to reply at all they should’ve used that opportunity in a good and professional way instead they managed to make themselves and their business look absolutely horrible. This place is very generic and low quality type food. It also takes about 15 min to make a small sandwich. Who has that type of time to wait? Also the women did not have on gloves or a hair net. She handles cash, cleaning supplies(I hope) ECT and NOGLOVES!!! also the muzz was very dry. As the last review said– the muzz was indeed dry and tasteless. Nothing special. Slow service. And the people who work there like to fight with you and blame the customer if you have a problem. Save your money or go somewhere else for real authentic Italian food. I will be shocked it this place is open this time next year

I grew up surrounded with Italian food, my mom had 4 sisters and it was always«who made the best meatballs or lasagna, ect ect» …i am usually unimpressed with a slice of lasagna from any of the Italian takeout places(anywhere not just in this area) .but not this place. this is the real deal, their food and sandwiches are all AMAZING. I go in here for a sandwich sometimes and walk out with a a few hot dishes as well… they all have been unbelievably good. I couldn’t believe how good the meatloaf was.

Very nice Italian deli. I was really pleased with how good the hot specials were and the cleanliness and sanitation were quite impressive.

I have observed several times that workers behind the counter do not use gloves. Once I went there to buy a meal, others times i bought a drinks. So i will not recommend this place. This is 2015 and restaurants need to be safe in how they handle food. The workers here use the same hands to pick out a roll of bread to put with your meal and then the same hands to handle money and cash registers. They are very expensive. The first time I tried them I ordered a meatball sandwich and it was under cooked and plus they did not specify in their menu that they use veal.

I figured I’d try this place after passing it a lot and hearing some good things about it so I first went in to get mozz I got it that and only that to try I figure if their mozz is good that means something we’ll I was never more disappointed in my life I brought it home opened it up and tried it it was drier then dry had no taste but I figured ill give my family it and see what they said they agreed very bad hard not creamy or soft then to top it all off I tried a piece again the next day 1 night after I got it and it was spoiled and soured we had to throw it out. But I’m a nice person I figured everyone has bad days I went in right before christmas 2014 and got mozz cookies struffoli and some other thing dried sausage and sopressata and I love aged sharp imported Provolone went all out this time even some other cold cuts was suppose to be for the family dinner we’ll thank god I tasted the stuff first a day before thanks giving the stuff was horribble mozz was same as last time tough sour taste just disgusting there dried sausages and sopressata were horrible no taste and rock solid actually ripped my grandmothers teeth out of her mouth not joking either the cookies and struffoli were generic garbage not the supposed to be homemade stuff they claimed it to be so after almost ruining my thanksgiving I went into a forum to find a good Italian deli with great mozz so I was suggested to go up the street a couple blocks toward kearny on ridge road the forum said that place is always fresh and delicious so In a panic I ran to there and they were closing but they were kind enough to let me in and let me get my stuff I got same stuff mozz struffoli cookies dried sopressata as and sausage and various cold cuts not only were they cut great they were very informative and let me try anything it was great felt like a kid on Christmas anyway got it back home and started to try the stuff and I must tell u best mozz I’ve ever eaten and dried stuff was old and to dried it was perfect and so tasty I asked what brand but they said that’s a secret so who knows but got it was good cookies and struffoli amazing just like my nonna used to make amazing I love it so since my problems with this store and now finding the only deli ill ever use again I believe it’s little something Eataly maybe idk but I now go there and I love it very inviting workers knowledgeable friendly and makes you feel like family nice change of pace like the old school delis used to be I apologize for giving this review I wasn’t going to but my wife talked me into after how much money we wasted at Borgo I had to agree I hope this helps people when they read reviews I always do prior to going any food establishment. … Response to rude woman: woman tried saying all things how I’m this and that which I’m not I’ve never been treated so poorly and rude ever. for the record I work in pharmaceutical sales and have no relation or anything to any deli all I do know is good food but Im appalled on how You treated me! my family and I have gone to a place that was there prior to it called lentinas and food wasn’t bad there at first and then went down hill I suppose that’s why they closed down but who knows I miss lentinas mutZ it was amazing this place definately can’t have the same guy making the mutZ since I was told some of owners now we’re from lentinas .I always give people a chance and everyone has an off day so I was going to give this place a chance again but now after this I wouldn’t step foot in it by it around it she is rude arrogant and horrible treat people with respect and u offer me a tour of the store why would I do that with someone who is as nasty and angry and that has no manners if you treat people like family as you said then I feel bad for your family I really loved all the cheese selection and grocery type stop in the store a lot of different things and I had tried a piece of Italian cheese first and it was great so that’s y I got rest of stuff for the holiday there figured it would be good too but o well idc what she says about me I’m not never have been never will be associated with any deli owners of delis or anything about it I have a job as I said pharmaceutical salesman and was gonna see if they would do lunches for my company for Drs and etc if the food was good. I don’t even know what to say I’m sorry u felt my review was wrong but I was truthful with my experience and I thought that was Unilocal was for customers to be truthful and honest about the experience! I guess since you got a bad review you thought a competitor did it idk y anyone would write a false review and done by another business makes no sense but u thought that’s what it was which it wasn’t and you speak to me like I’m trash don’t worry there are quite a few delis around in the area my Money green they like to make money as any business does so I’ll be there instead thank you for making this decision easy for me

This place has changed hands many times since it was Lentina’s. None of the other places were any good, but this place is up to par with any other real Italian deli around. And there fresh Mozzarella might be better than the other two guys in town. They have lots of daily hot foods you can take home and use real Italian cold cuts. And all the Italian groceries you could need. One issue I have with them is that they have to learn how to make a sandwich in less time than it takes for me to read Moby Dick.. I was the only person being helped by this particular lady but it still took her about 10 minutes to make me two simple sandwiches, in a world where the guy down the block does the same thing for you in 2 minutes this will give me second thoughts about going back if I’m in a rush, which we always are. Another issue I had is that I bought some nutella that turned out to be expired by over 9 months, I never brought it back or told them about it, I’m sure they would have replaced if I did. I just don’t want to have to look at all the expiration dates before I buy something, I’m trusting the vender does that before putting something out. That being said I’m very happy this place is around and doing well so now I have on other option to get some great Italian deli food. I might go there right now and get a nice sandwich.

They make an amazing Italian sub. Their fresh Mozz is some of the best I’ve tried in the area and that’s saying a lot. Try the mushroom rice when they have it. So yum! Smells like sharp Parmesan when u walk in. Super friendly ladies at the counter. So many fresh hot and cold specialties and cheeses, meats, and breads name it. There’s so many Italian food places around here and theyre all at least pretty good. Borgo so far has been one of the best delis I’ve been to in the area by far. I’m glad i stopped by. Freshly baked pies and cakes. Carrot cake and apple pie looked amazing. Will have to try some next time.

I just purchased one tray of lasagna, half with meat and half with cheese. It was absolutely delicious; amazing and the BEST anyone ever tasted. GREATJOB! My guests were from Boston, Connecticut and Buffalo and RAVEDRAVEDRAVED about it… they just wished they had someone in area who could make great home cooked lasagna like this. The price was unbelievably reasonable — the staff is so so so friendly and awesome. Thank you for your hard work and great cooking. LOVEDLOVEDLOVEDIT!!! Great job!

I have been going to this deli since it was Lentina’s. Some of the people here are the same from Lentina’s, which explains why the quality stayed high. I have never had a bad thing here, every. Wonderful Italian market, wonderful deli, wonderful hot food. I haven’t encountered anything over $ 10 by way of a single item(sandwiches, entrees, etc). Frankly, you get what you pay for here: big sandwiches/entrees, with excellent quality. My favorite is the Eggplant, Fresh Mozzerella, and Roasted peppers on a Ciabatta roll.

I caught this spot while driving w my hubby and just had to go in… was not expecting what we saw… homemade pasta… Mascarpone cheese from Italy prices just amazing. The highlight of the day was we came when they were service shrimp scampi for lunch, crab cakes, tilapia, breaded shrimp. The shrimp are sooooo big!!! U had to open your mouth wide… and that marinara sauce was on hit!!! OMG. It had a sweet hot kick to it that just went w everything we had. We were dipping it like crazy Then my hubby had the cheesecake and I had the homemade pecan pie. I tell ya! They do NOT skimp on the food. The pecans were big and roasted the cheesecake must have been mixed w mascarpone as well. Just melted in your mouth. Just Devine!!! Until I hear of something better this is our go to Italian deli. BTW we live in New York City… what-ev-verrr. We r so still driving here.

It was a very sad day in Bergen County with Lentina’s had closed down. Yes, they weren’t afraid to hit you over the head with their prices but they had some great stuff — including the best sausage in town. But now we have Borgo’s that’s been resurrected in Lentina’s former home and it’s even better. More variety, better products(although I’ve yet to sample their sausage) and the true score: the prices are better. Go and tell ‘em Sloppy Giuseppe sent ya!(They’ll have no clue who you’re talking about and probably ask you to leave.)
