I’ve been going to the class for almost 1.5yrs now. I’ve been enjoying learning aikido and it became a huge part of my life. Mr Holloway, our instructor or «Sensei» in Japanese, is awesome as well as students who attend class. I started coming to the class because I was approached by a stranger and he kept giving me sexual comments and started to approach towards me to try giving me a hug. I felt unsafe but did not know what to do but just to ignore him and stay quiet. After I got home, I strongly felt the need of self defense techniques. Then, I found this dojo, Aikido Heiwa. I’m more aware of my surroundings now than before and feel more confident to protect myself. For women who are considering joining, I highly recommend taking Women’s self defense class on Saturday mornings from 8:45 to 9:45 am. It is open only for women and Mr. Holloway teaches what we can do to protect ourselves and get out of the danger! As I mentioned in my first paragraph, going to aikido became a big part of my life. Not only I get to learn about self defense, but be a part of this amazing group of people!

Really enjoy the inviting and friendly atmosphere of this place. Instructor teaches both open hand and weapons techniques to adults and kids. Very active kids program filled with fun kids who are great to each other. Instructor is great with kids, they always leave having had a fun time while also learning. Games are focused to help younger kids learn martial techniques in a safe setting. Adults will find focused training with a tight knit group of helpful men and women who are friendly and non– competitive. This is not an MMA or combat school, but training focused on balance, strength, endurance and cooperation where you learn effective techniques that you can apply in the real world. A plus is the training space — it is beautifully laid out and decorated providing a peaceful and serene environment that includes a tea room. Great pricing and value. Have been here a few years and will stay for life.
