Poplar Lane Apartments

I’ve lived in Poplar Lane Apartments for 6 years, and I’m very happy here. It’s quiet, green, very good management, any problems have been solved quickly. This is not a luxury complex, but for the price I think it’s great.
The location is also very nice — close to freeway and shopping center, yet away from the main traffic.

Although I never ended up living here, my experience was absolutely terrible.
Back in may, me, my boyfriend, my roommate went to look at these apartments, and were told that there was a two bedroom that was being renovated and would be ready by July 1^st or at the latest July 15^th. Because of the price, we were willing to wait.
So, after looking at a similar unit, but put in our applications and part of the security deposit as a holding fee. During this process, the lady we dealt with was wonderful and told us she will contact is when the unit was done and could be officially looked at.
On June 25^th I still hadnt heard back, so I emailed them asking if the unit was ready yet and when we could look at it. That’s when she told me that it wouldn’t be done until August. Needless to say, we were a bit mad. My boyfriend called and she told him that the unit was done, but her supervisor had LEFT FOR AFRICA until the end of July and they couldn’t let anyone move on until she got back. So which one was it? Was the apartment done, or not? We were told different stories on different occasions and were obviously being lied to. Needless to say, we demanded our deposit back and went elsewhere.
For one, what apartment manager tells one person one thing then tells their significant other something completely different?! And for another, what apartment takes 3+ MONTHS to renovate?! At most, for what they were doing, it should’ve taken 3 weeks.

The website listed here is NOT the website for the complex. It’s a copy with some nasty hurtful comments, and I’ve reported it. I moved here 2 years ago based on the recommendation of a co-​worker, and I love it. The mgmt is responsive, the grounds are well-​kept, and any maintenance issue is responded to promptly. It’s quiet and clean and I hope to stay here for quite some time.
