I hired Laura to alter my wedding gown, a Casablanca strapless dress with a beaded bustline and some fairly complicated lace overlay. When I ordered the dress originally, I was about 7 lbs heavier than I am now(gotta drop the weight, but you never know if it’s going to come off!) So when I received my dress, it fit perfectly lengthwise but was baggy around the midsection(yay!) and boobs(boo!). We decided to take it in a little bit extra, because I’m planning on losing a few more pounds before my wedding in late May(me and every other bride). Like I said before, my dress is a pretty complicated piece of art and the layers had to be carefully unstitched, debeaded, and unlaced, then sewn back into place, and restiched, rebeaded, and relaced. If I had any idea how complicated it actually was, I probably would have just stayed fat so I wouldn’t have to put anyone through ripping my dress apart and putting it back together piece by piece. The dress looks amazing and all the tiny little detailing is back into place as if my fat a** fit into it naturally to begin with. Out of all the things I’ve been stressing about with my down-to-the-wire wedding details that need to magically fall into place in exactly 60 days according to my wedding countdown ticker, being able to rely on Laura’s nimble yet talented hands was a weight off my shoulders. Now let’s hope I can stay thin until my wedding so I don’t need to go back for an expansion!
