Excellent food, atmosphere and service. I had the crab cakes. They were delicious. So fresh and not fishy. My daughter tasted them and loved them. She had the pulled pork. Wonderful sweet tangy BBQ sauce and amazing homemade pickles. My sister had the semolina gnocci. It was like a semolina-type polenta cake. So yummy with the mushroom ragu. Being a Girl Scout Leader for dessert I had to try the Samoa Cheesecake and was not disappointed. I would highly recommend this place. Can’t wait to go back again.

How did I not know about this place before. Don’t let the look of the building fools you, this place is definitely a keeper. First time here and will not be our last. Good were on par. If I have to compare this place to another place I like, I would say Highlands Kitchen comes to mind! Not a lot of choices for entrees but what we had was more than made up for it. We ordered Sambal wings(a must try), Brussels sprouts, chicken and sausage Jambalaya, Bleu Cheese Burger and dessert! Great place for dinner!

What a nice treat to have in Malden. Very nice atmosphere, but I do think booth in the front would really give it more pub like feel and the the kids toys should be moved. With that said the service was top notch and the food was fantastic. The menu is limited, but I like that. Thank you for enhancing Malden and will be back for sure.

Thank you Ferry St. Food & Drink. Our Company, Yankee Pest Control, had a retirement party, today. What a Great time. We had lots of fun. The food was Excellant, especially the wings with just enough spice, very tasty. Best French Onion soup, not to salty, very good. Definitely a must. My husband had the Cheese Burger, & thought it was delicious. The service was very good, friendly & quick too. Overall a very good place to Eat. Thanks, from Helen & David. Malden, MA

We are very disappointed with our meal tonight at Ferry Street Food and Drink. As a party of 2, we were ushered to Table #41 by Mercedis around 5:15 pm on Sunday, April 17th. We ordered the Garden Salad with Chicken as an entrée and the Vegetarian Sandwich. There were about 3 tables being waited on including ours. As the evening proceeded, my friend noticed a strand of short blonde hair in her salad. She has long brown hair and I have short black hair. My friend brought this to Mercedis’ attention quietly by showing her the hair because she did not to cause a scene. Mercedis then took my friend’s half-eaten salad back to the kitchen and offered another salad to our table, but at this point our appetite was gone. We requested for the bill and were surprised to see that we would be charged for the aforementioned salad. So, we requested to speak with the manager in order explain our situation in detail to prevent this from happening again to another patron. However, the series of events that followed afterwards shocked us. Without the manager, Mercedis returned to our table with a new bill. She rudely threw the bill down at our table before quickly walking away. The photo attached of the creased receipt doesn’t do any justice to measure the attitude she was serving our table. At this point, all we wanted to do was pay for our meal and leave, but even this Mercedis denied to us. We waited at our table for at least 10 minutes to pay for the Vegetarian Sandwich with a Credit Card before finally walking the bill up to the bar area where she was standing.(At this point, there were still about 3 other tables occupied.) Her response was that she assumed we would be paying in cash! That is a first for us because in our previous visits, the server always followed up after we received the bill to collect our payment and/or provide us with change. This final straw drove us to leave no tip for Mercedis. Thus, we hope that today’s poor service was an outlier because we have boasted this establishment to our network in support of Jason and Shannon since their opening. However, it pains us to admit that we will not be returning anytime soon.

I like this place a lot. I’ve been twice, and the food and service have both been great. The servers and waitstaff are very friendly and helpful. When I wanted to substitute something on my dish, our server had a list of options off the top of her head to help me make my decision. We have tried the burger, pork chop, jambalaya, and cookie skillet– all of which are great. My boyfriend says this jambalaya is the best that he has had. My mother also works at Malden Library and said that Ferry Street is very generous and they are always donating desserts to the library when they have events. I also really like the music they play. Overall a great place and I would definitely recommend it.

I like this place. This is my second time and I’ve come back for the tasty burger. Not the biggest fan of the poppy seed bun with no option to substitute the bun. But it’s seriously so delicious! I like the music, but I think it could be lowered when there is not a lot of people around. They have nice supply of craft beers and I loved their sweet potato fries!

My daughter, wife and I arrived just before 8pm this past Sunday(Valentine’s Day) and, save for a few spots at the bar and two tables, the place was a total ghost town. Maybe it was because it was a work night or maybe it had something to do with the frigid temperatures that night, who knows; but I am sure glad we were there. The atmosphere at Ferry Street is pub style, with a bar on the left and tables throughout two rooms. Broken down antiques serve as decorations and dark wood trim is accented in the soft, warm lighting. Upon entering we were greeted warmly and both my wife and daughter were presented with beautiful long stem red roses. The roses were a lovely touch on Valentine’s Day. For our appetizers we ordered the chips with blue cheese«gravy» and the BBQ pork meatballs. The chips are house made, sliced thin, perfectly fried, and covered in a blue cheese sauce. If you like blue cheese(which I do) and potato chips(which I also do) then this is for you. The BBQ pork meatballs were a little tough but tasted great, especially with tangy BBQ sauce. The cheesy grits that accompanied the meatballs were a nice compliment as well. For dinner I ordered the braised short rib served with fried brussel sprouts over a bed of risotto. The short rib was tender and beefy and the risotto was rich and creamy. Now I’ve always been someone who is rather indifferent when it comes to brussel sprouts but, as simple as they were, these brussel sprouts were fantastic. They were fried until crispy but only had a hint of bitterness to them, which was complimented by a slight bit of sweetness. For dessert we splurged and ordered both the dark chocolate custard with fresh raspberries and the Samoa(Carmel Delights for you new school girl scout cookie lovers out there) Cheesecake. While the dark chocolate custard was excellent, words just can’t do the Samoa Cheesecake justice. With creamy cheesecake on top of a cookie crust, then topped with caramel coconut topping, chocolate ganache, and a samoa girl scout cookie, you have to enjoy it yourself to understand how awesome this thing is. All in all, we couldn’t have asked for a better end to our Valentine’s night — great food and excellent service all at reasonable prices. We’ll definitely be back the next time we’re in Malden.

Went for a valentines dinner and they did a good job with the ambience for the occasion. We were greeted right away at the door with a rose for my girl. Seated right away and water was brought to the table promptly. The menu is limited and we were expecting perhaps something more«special» about the specials. Food was good but not great and the service was very good. Will definitely return but not for a special occasion.

Wonderful place for dinner and drinks! Our table of 3 made reservations for 7pm on a Friday night and we were seated promptly. The atmosphere was family friendly, and also had a nice bar area and a good selection of drinks if you decide to come without the kids. We ordered the beer flight, a beer and a cocktail from their menu. Our dinner consisted of crab cake entrees, Brussels sprouts and meatball sides which my friend requested as her entrée, and side of homemade potato chips with blue cheese and dip on the side. We also saved room for desserts. We tried the samosa cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and crème bulee. Every item we ordered was awesome and also our waitress was super friendly, and cheerful =)

We enjoyed our second visit at Ferry Street as much as our first. The homemade chips are very good, but the Brussels Sprouts with bacon were superb. Craft beer selection is not huge, but it had some excellent choices. The Steak Frites was very good. The Braised Beef Short Rib was done to perfection, but I found the lentils to very salty. We will return.

We’ve recently become somewhat regular at Ferry street, and I’m glad for that. The atmosphere inside is cozy and inviting — somewhat upscale irish-pub-ish. It’s beautiful when it’s decked out for Christmas. The food is outstanding. Of note: $ 1 oyster wednesdays, Brussels sprouts, seasonal cheesecakes(like the girl scout cookie ones — OMG), Deviled eggs, marinated feta app. Hubby loved the jambalaya when they had it on. When I go, I usually make a meal out of assorted apps. The service is always top notch as well. Beer selection is OK. Not the best in town but I can always find new things and things that I like on tap. Great hand-crafted cocktails too.

I want to start by saying that we need more places like Ferry Street in the suburbs. It’s great that we have more and more choices for going out that don’t involve heading into the city. I also understand that being a restaurant owner is difficult and reading luke warm and negative reviews must really sting. I certainly wouldn’t want somebody coming to my office and reviewing me. My girlfriend and I went to visit them last night. It was a short 15 minute drive from Revere Beach and we found street parking no problem. We arrived at 7:15 and were seated right away as there were only a couple other tables. The hostess filled our water glasses and walked away. 10 minutes went by before a server came to take our drink orders. I counted 1 hostess, 1 waitress, and 1 bartender on staff last night. It took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Kristina ordered a bottle of cider and I ordered an Old Fashioned. What I was served was a muddled fruit cocktail, club soda, and a splash of bourbon. I gave Kristina a sip and she commented on how carbonated it was. I prefer the Bourbon to be the centerpiece of my cocktails — not muddled oranges and cherries and club soda. Here is a quote about their attitude on craft cocktails: «As with our food philosophy, we aren’t so pretentious to think we can vastly improve on what already works so well. Instead we focus on execution-the pursuit of a flawless interpretation of a tried and true recipe.» I guess we will agree to disagree on the tried and true recipe of an Old Fashioned; but for what it’s worth, here’s an article from Esquire on the subject:
When the waitress brought our drinks, she also took our order. This was at 7:35. My French Onion Soup was brought out 15 minutes later. The soup itself was good; it tasted like every other French Onion Soup I’ve had. 15 minutes later, my burger was brought out. The poppy seed bun was baked fresh and was a really nice touch. The burger itself had caramelized onions and gruyère cheese, so it was an appropriate pairing to the soup. It was a good burger, but it needed something to really make it special and I think some bacon would have done the trick. They do offer bacon as a $ 2 extra. Given the disappointing cocktail, slow service, and an extremely loud and annoying table seated directly next to us, we opted to skip dessert. I would definitely return to Ferry Street and update my review. I’d also like to add that the cocktail menu on the website was never presented to us, and they appear to have some well-crafted libations(just go easy on the soda water). I’m comfortable leaving a 3-star review based on our experience last night. I certainly wish the owners continued success and more importantly a Happy Thanksgiving.

Friday evening and we decided to try our luck to get seats at Highland Kitchen– wait time was 1.5 hours. Nope. We knew it was a great possibility but still didn’t have a back up place. Then I remembered Ferry Street Food & Drink which I saw on Unilocal a couple of weeks back trying to check out places to eat at around the neighborhood. Promising reviews. Ambiance was nice. Service was nice but the menu is super limited. The two entrees that I wanted to try were both unavailable! No burgers at 8PM on a Friday? So I was gonna go for the«famous» rigatoni and they don’t have it anymore either. Unbelievable. I ended up ordering 5 small plates for myself. Should’ve been enough but I was hungry and looking forward to an entrée that a bunch of side dishes didn’t satiate. Very disappointed.

I wasn’t sure this place would last in Malden. To be honest, if it isn’t Asian then it’s up against it in my opinion. In a city that has very little to offer other than said Asian food, Ferry Street really sticks out. They have an extensive beer list, tons of small bites and apps and high quality food to go along with all of it. Our bartender, who’s name I don’t know, because I forget everything was super nice, informative and eager to please. The food was amazing, I had rabbit and I have no idea what my fat friend had but he devoured it.(sorry jim) we also opted for a desert which was a play on S’mores and it was just the most delicious and most ridiculous thing ever for a desert. In a city that needs more choices, this is a great one !!!

Delicious food! My boyfriend, and I, took his parents visiting from Arizona. The folks had the Pulled Pork sandwiches with homemade chips. I had the Rigatoni with chicken, the boyfriend had the Jambalaya. All were awesome! The Jambalaya was spicy and flavorful. Just enough heat and then it backed off. Delicious Andouille sausage and chicken. The Rigatoni was perfectly seasoned and flavored with caramelized onions and banana peppers. My only criticism was that it was a little light on the chicken. I didn’t have the Pulled Pork but I did try the chips. Yummy! They were perfectly crisp and light. All of the desserts on the menu sounded delicious. I eventually chose the Lemon Panna Cotta. This was so perfect, the lemon was subtle, it was topped with fresh blueberries and mint. A perfect dessert for summer. I’m looking forward to coming back very soon!

This place really deserves a better audience. A comfy, hospitable space, at the intersection of Ferry Street and Eastern Avenue. Super cocktails, impeccable beer collection and a food menu that would be just as comfortable in Boston, Cambridge, or any neighborhood in NYC. The bartender mixes up a really good drink. The food is impeccable and locally sourced, even the last day of February 2015. Highlights: Roasted winter vegetable salad, perhaps low on winter vegetables, the arugula, cornbread croûton, feta and dressing balance were perfect. Deviled eggs: delicious. On the menu tonight: my favorite, fried chicken. Mashed potatoes, collard greens and bacon cream gravy. The desserts are yummy. Bonus: the bartender is Jesse Eisenberg’s doppelgänger! A fun place. An oasis just north of Boston proper.

The hotly anticipated Ferry Street Food and Drink is finally open and I could not be more pleased. I had the opportunity to check out this fine establishment on their official opening night and I was not disappointed. The space looks incredible — nice and open with dark wood and expertly placed lights to make the dining room feel cozy but not cramped. The back wall is lined with awesome vintage posters of mushrooms and things. The cocktail menu has a nice array of classic cocktails that were well crafted. The sazerac was slightly sweeter than expected, but after a chat with the owner the second one was perfect. There was a good selection of wines and beers on draught. The dinner menu was carefully curated with good options for apps and entrees.(Though, there was no vegetarian option… but it was opening night — so maybe they’ll add one?) The group of us shared the BBQ pork meatball app which came with really tasty cheddar grits. As for entrees, we tried: — the burger: perfectly cooked, with crisp fries — ½ chicken with parsnips: chicken was super flavorful — market fish: sea bass which was SUPER tasty — came with asparagus and mushrooms but could have stood to have a little starch on the plate — braised rabbit with egg noodles and peas — the noodles were dang tasty. They seemed homemade, though I’m not sure if they were or not. The rabbit was not gamey at all. — steak and baked potato — the steak was HUGE and the accompanying herb butter was heavenly. For dessert we had the cookie skillet with vanilla ice cream and the seasonal fruit cobbler(rhubarb) with whipped cream. Desserts were excellent. Cookie was warm and gooey and crispy. UGH. And the cobbler was tart and crunchy and a little bit sweet. Excellentttt. The real pleasant surprise of the evening was the homemade Irish cream which was dangerously delicious. The service was super friendly, laid back and so so so accommodating. We asked about brunch and supposedly it is in the works(word on the street is there will be the best Bloody Marys with all the best pickled fixins!) I really am so stoked to have such an awesome restaurant so close to my house. The Malden food scene is starting to rev up and if Ferry Street is any indication of what’s to come — I cannot wait!
