Kitson Kids

I had a very bad experience yesterday evening at Kitson Kids in Malibu.
My daughter chose a ride-​on horse/​stick that was $ 25.
I walked up to the register and purchased it. While paying for it, she found a book that she would rather have.
I asked if I could get the book instead and was informed that there are no returns allowed and would need to get a store credit.
I said that was fine, so the employee called her manager (Mayra) to handle the transaction.
When the manager came, she said that she would not be able to give me a store credit, that I would have to do an even exchange.
However, since the book was only $ 9.00, I would need to buy additional items that exceeded the original amount.
I didn’t want to purchase anything else and asked if I could have a credit for the additional amount (since the receipt said it could be returned for store credit).
She said no, she wouldn’t do a store credit and I would forfeit any amount I didn’t use.
I then was forced to buy products that I did not want and pay an additional amount.
The receipt clearly states that store credit would be issued within 10 days. This was less than 5 minutes after a purchase and I hadn’t even walked out of the store.

This Kitson for Kids has been open for several years but recently moved to a smaller location in the Lumber Yard. They have a huge selection of baby and kids clothes as well as a really good selection of higher end, unique toys. The bigger store had much more merchandise, but this new smaller store requires better attention to detail as they are merchandising vertically. This is to say, there’s a lot on the shelves and the shelves go from floor to a very high ceiling.
The crew in the store are cheery and knowledgeable on the merchandise.
Great place for baby clothes. though not inexpensive.
