Chicken dishes great but pasta dishes awful. Atmosphere feels like a nursing home dining room to be honest.

Great Italian food in an intimate atmosphere. Every time I come here it takes me back to when my Nana used to cook sunday meals for me. The portions are exceptional, and I have been won over by everything on their extensive menu. The chicken scarpariello is other worldly. The desserts are made in-house, and their lemon cello cheesecake is easily the best cheesecake I’ve ever had, hands down!

My mother wanted to come here to celebrate her birthday since she had been here previously on a few occasions and really enjoyed it. We visited on a busy Saturday night and thankfully had reservations which they honored on time. Regardless of my review, this place will always do well because it’s a very local establishment with loyal followers who don’t review Unilocal or other sights for restaurant reviews. From the moment we all walked in, I noticed the restaurant was packed with a much older crowd, senior citizen to elderly, just like my parents. In addition, the atmosphere and décor resembled eating in a institution setting. I only say that because we recently dined with my mother in law in Florida in an assisted living residence and it was similar. My parents each ordered the veal pizzaiola. My wife ordered the cavatelli with broccoli rabe, my daughter ordered the spaghetti with meatballs, and I had the Chicken Contadina(chicken, sausage, potatoes, peppers). Each meal came with a soup or salad. The salads were very basic but the portion was decent. The minestrone soup was very good. The bread and bread sticks on the table were piping hot and good. My parents enjoyed their veal dish even though the veal appeared to be swimming in gravy. My daughter commented that her spaghetti sauce was bland and had no taste. My wife thought her pasta dish was bland and made me make it for her the next night. My Chicken dish was fine. Each of the portions were very generous and the prices were very reasonable for the portion size. Our waitress was average at best and wasn’t warm or friendly. We felt like we were an inconvenience to her. It was slow at times. When we wanted to place our order she wanted to get us our drinks first and then take our order. She didn’t want to do both at the same time. So we had to wait even longer until we ordered. The restrooms were clean. I know my parents will keep coming back but my side of the family will reconsider.

Great food for great prices! It was recently redecorated and looks awesome. This is a very family-oriented place, so feel free to bring the kids! Some of the best dishes are the lasagna, chopped salad with Gorgonzola, chicken marsala, and the salmon. Try the tiramisu, it’s the best I have ever had!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of going with my husband and daughter to Chef Antonio’s.from the moment we entered and were greeted by the Hostess we knew this was a place that cared about their guests. We perused the menu and our waitress offered some suggestions and had a good knowledge of the menu and the specials. we started off with Clams Oreganta and fried calamari. and the chef also sent us some home-made chickpea salad. My daughter ordered raviolis and meatballs… my husband ordered and loved the Chicken on the Ranch, a great dish and the filet was cooked to perfection… he also had a salad and potato croquettes, home made by the way… I ordered Penne A la Vodka… outstanding, the best I have ever had– I also had a delicious gorgonzola salad. my husband had a beer– I had a delicious Malbec– amd my daughter loved her Shrley Temple… not only was the food good but the hostess came over to see how everything was. engaged us in conversation much to our delight. and then offered suggestions on desserts… everyone was so nice and helpful —we will certainly come back– –Angela M.

To start, sat for 45 minutes before we interrupt someone to take our order. Soup and salad took another half hour to come. Main course came after 30 minutes more and 3 out of 5 meals were eatable. The other 2 tasted so bad they couldn’t be eaten, maybe dogs would eat it??? Will not be back for sure!!!

Stopped here for lunch. Very nice atmosphere. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Had the hot antipasto which was superb. Ordered the lasagna made with Italian sausage. It was to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates great Italian food.

We’ve been looking for a local place to go to on a regular basis. Never have been able to find a restaurant that was worth going a second time. Chef-Antonio had been recommended by a friend and we went November 25 – and we are extremely happy that we did. The food was excellent — stuffed shrimp – veal chunks in a delicious pepper sauce — cavatelli in a garlic and broccoli rabe sauce. Absolutely outstanding ! Will be back often.

Met a girlfriend here for dinner the other night based on reviews about the food. Was sorry the minute I stepped inside and sat at bar to wait. To say the décor needs updating is a huge understatement. All bar stools were cheap plastic covered foam and they all had multiple tears. The whole restaurant is early 80’s pastel and cheap foam covered metal chairs. The wine was terrible both red and white. They don’t have wine list –seems they only have 1 brand of a few different types. The food was just OK. Nothing spectacular, too much sauce and overcooked pasta. The real problem was the«fruit» flies buzzing around our table the whole night. It is very annoying and gross trying to eat with flies all around. At one point I’m pretty sure a fly came out of my salad when I moved the lettuce around. Would never go back here. It was pretty filled with geriatric crowd as other reviewers mentioned — guess that’s what’s keeping this place in business. I’m no foodie snob but this place is not appetizing.

Chef Antonio is a place foodie snobs love to hate. It’s not Mario Batali Italian. It’s not trying to authenticate regional cuisines of Tuscany or Emiglia-Romana or Bari or wherever the trendy region of Italy is at a given moment. It’s solid, Italian-American home cooking. It’s generously portioned Italian-American comfort food. This is the place where you will get a giant comforting plate of chicken parmigiana bookended by minestrone and a chocolately tartufo. Wash it down with a strong chianti. There are dishes here that are done quite well, even superior to some of the fancier Italian places, particularly the delicious gnocchi, even if food snobs won’t admit it. It is an older crowd and the décor looks like an 80s throwback, but don’t let that deter you. Come a little later and you’re guaranteed a quiet table, and you won’t ever be rushed out. Service is consistent, efficient, and friendly. Definitely go to Chef Antonio if you have a big appetite and love of your favorite childhood classics. You’ll have a meal for two days.

Nestled away in Mamaroneck is a family-friendly restaurant that I’ve been to for many private events. It’s the go to place for every special occasion for a family member. The food is delicious! The staff is attentive and courteous! It’s a rare gem!

My family has been going to Chef Antonio’s since before I was born– that’s a good 25 years. We used to go at least once a week when I was younger and since us children have flew the coup, my parents seem to go there at least twice a week now. I live in Manhattan and visit my parents in Mamaroneck often– under one condition, they take us to Chef Antonio. The food is classic, home cooked Sicilian food. Since I was basically raised on their food, I now compare all Italian restaurants to Chef Antonio. I often hear myself saying, «Their baked ziti was good, but nothing compared to Chef Antonio’s!» There has been practically no turn over in the staff since I’ve been going there which is good, because they’re all great people and we’ve come to know them well. It’s generally an older crowd– a sea full of grey heads– but it’s such a warm place, with great service and exceptional food so you don’t notice that you’re literally the only person under the age of 75 there. However, it’s an ideal place for families(and large families, too). Don’t go there expecting the hottest spot in town, go there expecting generous portions of delicious food served by friendly faces in a warm atmosphere.

Very nice staff, and the only gnocchi I’ve ever had in my life that I actually liked!(Everything else we ordered — chicken marsala, gorgonzola salad, pizza, veal — also excellent). Portions are very big. Our«small» pizza was huge. Really liked this place!

Hey Irv, Im kinda in the *mood*(suggestive cough) for the first time in years… wanna go to Chef Antonio for dinner– we can order Gnocci and then sit across from eachother and not even say 2 words! just like old times sake… This is the typical scene at this place, but I must remind you– its a 4 star place– not only becuase of the historically less than rowdy crowed(esp. on a Wed. Night), the food here is great– add in the reasonable prices and timeless décor AND waiters who do this as a career(seemingly) — 4 stars. I go here with my Grandparents– we usually sit at a table becuase«the booths are too small… and you’re too big to fit– you grow so fast…» ok Gram Ill get a table LIke I said, older crowed– Italian and Jewsih diners– many silent diners(these are the old people equivilent of the depressing youthful couples of today that would engage in blackberrying others rather than conversate with their date) that just mumble a few words about the Yonkers raceway casino slots in between comments on Mr. G’s latest missed forecast…

This is a great little restaurant. It is very reasonably priced, and they give you big portions. I always take home a doggie bag. The food is excellent, and the service is always attentive and friendly. It is a nice casual place, good for families and it is kid friendly. They also have a full bar. You might want to make a reservation on weekends, as it gets busy.
