Much like the Plains Indians revered the buffalo for the incredible resource that it provided, so does Ian respect the hour; not a second goes to waste. Mammoth Strength offers well designed workouts from a coach who is very accomplished and knowledgeable, but who also does not rest on his laurels. Ian is very driven and is always learning and refining his skills. This is a great destination for drop-in workouts for those passing through town chasing the powder(or the fish), but Mammoth Strength provides its biggest value to those who get to spend an extended amount of time there. Ian can develop programs to improve performance in specific sports and activities, work around injuries(while helping to prevent new ones) and physical limitations and help individuals progress to their own meaningful and specific goals. If you’re looking for a gym with a pec-deck and lemon cucumber water, you’ll need to go elsewhere. To those looking for an effective, efficient, purpose-driven and challenging workout — this place is a true hidden gem.

My husband and I often visit Mammoth. We ski, hike, kayak, bike… but I still miss my crossfit workouts! This week a local resident suggested that I try training with Ian. A great coach knows how to do so much more than program a tough workout. They watch and correct your form, they listen to your needs and they adjust accordingly. Ian is just that type of guy! If you live in Mammoth or are just visiting do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. (Please note: The former name if the gym is Eastside Mountain Athletics.)
