I have been looking forward to going here for over a year. It was open when we could go to dinner, tonight. We walked in and the welcome was lukewarm. I was hoping to sit at the sushi bar, but there was one person there that had stuff all over the bar. To make it look like people were there. We sat at a bar table. Our server was very attentive. But she knew nothing about the fish she was serving. ATALL. So we then ordered drinks and sashimi. We chatted about fish with the crew by shouting back and forth across the bar. The drinks arrived but the«sashimi» did not. The albacore was lackluster, bland, and had a frame of salt. At first appearance it was cooked around the edges.(Which the rep eventuality told me was the case) So it was not fresh in any case of the word. But salted, which is not the way I want my sushi. I did complain. They comped the fish. Which is totally acceptable but then chef came out and told me I had no idea about fish, which I do, and proceeded to get in my face about everything about his salted fish which was fine. As sashimi. Which is total BS. Hmmmm nothing fresh there, in the fish section.

Awesome dinner on a Saturday night in January — table right away. The kitchen was busy but got us some warm edamame quickly. The yellowtail sashimi was awesome — fresh and delicious. Followed with the poke salad that we will definitely come back for as well as the spicy fried ramen. Great service — we’ll be back.

The sushi was not fresh, came here for happy hour, the yellowtail hand roll was very fishy, the price was right for $ 5 and a beer, but quality was substandard. We also ordered the Kobe Beef Slider with fries, the Kobe beef was bland, tasteless, more like baked piece of beef than grilled… Stomach ache to follow, don’t know why so many ppl like this place…

New must«check it out» up and coming restaurant called«The Bistro.» This best kept Mammoth Lakes secret restaurant is located inside the Snowcreek Athletic Club. Enter and go left and walk up the stairs. Trust me it’s there and worth the extra ambulatory effort. «The Bistro» is heated(it was 30 degrees Fahrenheit outside) and intrigues the diner with many seating options — you can get in close to cuddle on the couch or catch a game on the bar tables with stools, or elect to sit at the traditional table for six with full china service accompanied by linen napkins and wine glasses. We were seated right away and immediately noticed the floor to ceiling windows on the right side letting in natural mountain light. Each table was dressed with a little green ceramic teapot choc full of soy sauce. A television remote was provided to switch between the game or the Metropolitan Opera performances. My sushi roll presented well on white china with ginger and green mustard garnish. Ginger was sliced thinly from the root a minute before served as it packed a memorable taste that had my eyebrows raised in realization(definitely not the usual pedestrian ginger sitting in a plastic vat of salt water). The Teriyaki Salmon — when lightly forked — revealed its signature opaque white flake and translucence which is a foodie’s signal of cooked to perfection salmon. Service was provided by a cheerful blond hostess who was attentive and gave us needed space to eat, flip channels, sip green tea, converse, and fully take in this unique restaurant. We lingered there an hour and a half and left with tummy rub gestures and phrases of Wow! Try this place if you can get a reservation and consider yourself lucky if you get in on a walk in basis.

What a hidden gem! Awesome Sushi and awesome people! We sat at the counter and had wonderful conversation with the chefs. The Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Mango Purée and Avocado was AMAZING! We both enjoyed the Caterpillar Roll and my husband really enjoyed the Poke Chip. In fact, he enjoyed it so much, the chef gave him another one for free! We highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the mood for sushi.

Clean facility from the start. Front desk staff was wonderful and helpful. Loved how they offered me a military discount on my visit and friendly. Gym has what a gym needs and offers lots of extras. Perfect place for vacation workouts and during summer poolside relaxation. Highly recommend to visit! For ten years I have been coming here while home on leave and every time they take care of me. Thank you!

Over priced sushi and it’s only a 2 star because with the lack of choices on the menu it was better than shogun. The only great thing about this place was the sushi chef was very friendly.

We looked on Unilocal for a Sushi in Mammoth. Didn’t expect to get the Snowcreek Athletic Club. We took the shuttle there and were pleasantly surprised. We sat at the Sushi Bar. The creations were excellent and the manager/owner was entertaining and fun to talk to. We will be back return.

We have dined at the sushi bar twice and both times had a wonderful experience. The rolls are creative and sashimi very fresh. Portions are generous and staff very friendly. A definite go to restaurant in Mammoth.

Mountain sushi at its finest! So yummy, so affordable, and fun happy hour offerings. The only reason they don’t get 5 stars is the lack of nigori and the ambience. However, despite its location within a gym this place is absolutely worth visiting-yum!!!

Wow! Can’t say enough good things about this place. Met the chef, Dave. Talk about helpful informative and amazing. The sushi is awesome! The alone creek roll is amazing, the sashimi is beyond amazing. I’m normally not a sashimi person and I eat every little piece of it! The ahi poke is off the hook! Love it so much! I can’t wait to go back! If you go make sure to meet the chef and ask his stories and to just create a roll for you! Really personal experience. I’ve read other peoples reviews yeah maybe takes a little longer but everything is super fresh, made to order and tastes awesome. It’s worth any wait! The waitress Lettie I believe is how you spell it is awesome and attentive! Great space for kids, they can run around or watch tv on the couches and let’s you enjoy your meal! I can’t wait to go back I’m dreaming about it now!

There was a wait when we got there and I think our experience would’ve been slightly different if we had not sat at the bar. The fish here was fresh and everything we ordered was made to perfection. Dave the head chef was fun to talk to and took great care of us. The price was good considering the quality of the fish and being in a resort town. Overall, all the staff were friendly and we would definitely come back again.

This was one of the worst experiences that I’ve ever had a at restaurant. We were not greeted when we walked in. The hostess said they needed to clear a table and we could be seated. Our party waited 20 minutes for them to bus one table. They seated someone immediately at a table they promised us! No sorry, no courtesy drink, no manager… Nothing. Needless to say we walked out. I’m never going back and would not recommend to anyone.

If you’re into a classic sushi bar where you can sit down and talk to the sushi chef, Dave is awesome. The sashimi here is amazing! The marble coloring is awesome and Dave hand picks the cuts. The hand rolls are meant to be eaten right away so you can enjoy the different textures and flavors.

They’re very good. But not quite there yet. As a new business(4 months in?), they are still training a few staff members. Dave’s passion is there, and he’s teaching the team, but they’ll need a little more training before the winter season hits. Ramen was decent, but had to be remade because the line cook used the wrong chicken. The person mixing drinks didn’t know what a whiskey sour was. No complaints about the sushi, pretty good all around. I expect it to be 5-stars when I’m back in December!

Bistro hidden in an athletic club. My dad had the teriyaki seared salmon and said it was exceptional(5⁄5). My mom had the shrimp tempura and said it was great(4⁄5) but not much variety of vegetables and not a lot of quantity. I got the ramen with skirt steak, the steak was good(4⁄5) the ramen was crunchy and not in a soup(3⁄5). I personally don’t like ramen that way, it seemed bland but spicy if that’s possible. I also had 2 pcs of unagi sushi(3⁄5), it was good/ok, small amount of rice. DON’T get the miso soup, no taste to it. The place has high prices, I would try another sushi place next time. My parents would recommend it and come back again. I would not, I’ve had much better for less. The service was super nice, bit slow.

Not sure where the other reviews came from but my experience at the restaurant was not so good. Service was extremely slow and unprofessional. The head chef himself took our order, delivered our food and apologized several times on behalf of his untrained staff. The food itself was also not good, with inconsistencies in the presentation of sushi and also the flavors within the rolls not balanced. Definitely will not be returning.
