There are two things you need to make sure you do if you’re thinking about easting at the Farmhouse: 1) Wait for a nice summer evening. 2) Sit outside. The menu is diverse, and service is friendly and quick, and the food is very good, but by far the best part of our meal was the setting. The brick patio sits in front of the lit-up Farmhouse and along a quiet road and woods — very soothing. As far as the food: — Appetizers were great — we did the fried mozzarella, sausage-stuffed mushrooms, and beef tenderloin medallions. — Salads were similarly good — I loved the pecan and gorgonzola, and the pecan and goat cheese was also a big hit — I ordered the Lamb rack as an entrée, which was slightly undercooked but well seasoned, and nicely accompanied with sweet potatoes. Other big hits at the table were the steaks and the penne vodka primavera. — Desserts? Well, the portions were big enough that we didn’t get too many, but they have an interesting mix of sorbets and gelatos, and the requisite standards. One oddity — the espresso I ordered came in a full-sized coffee mug, filled about halfway. They must’ve known I needed to stay up, but still, I was a little taken aback… All told, a great way to spend a pleasant summer evening, if you have the time and the means. Be sure to give it a try.

This was the old Fox Head Inn and is now under new ownership. My biggest complaint about the Fox Head Inn was their fixed menu. The food was great, but I like choices, and the Farmhouse gives you just that. There are excellent appetizers and salads, several steak choices, veal, lamb, chicken, pasta, seafood… you get it all, which is the reason I need to go back and eat there again. First, you have to sit outside on the patio for at least one cocktail. The Farmhouse is coming out with a small bar menu to accommodate those who just want a drink and a snack. It’s a gorgeous setting and they play music outside for your entertainment. After a couple of cocktails, we went inside for dinner. I highly recommend getting the spiced pecan and gorgonzola salad… it’s out of this world. We ordered the Chateaubriand for two, which could easily feed 3 – 4. It came out cooked perfectly medium rare and was accompanied by some broccoli and mashed potatoes that were crispy on top. YUM! Dessert time came and although I was stuffed, it was insisted that we try the home made carrot cake. I am not a fan of carrot cake… never liked it… more of a chocolate guy or ice cream. I just did not understand having vegetables for dessert. Anyway, this cake came out and I could not believe how good it was. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. Like I said, I need to go back to this place more and taste the rest of the food there. The ambiance, staff and food will have you coming back as well.
