**I did not hire this company, only rating the estimating process** Scheduling the estimate was quick and easy, but that was really the only positive I found. Mark was scheduled to come to my apartment at 10am. He called a few minutes before 10 saying he was running 15 minutes late and would be there around 10:30. Not sure about his math skills there… So he showed up more than 30 minutes passed the appointment time. He brought all of his materials, but didn’t bring a pen, so I gave him one to use. Then he got out his calendar to look at our moving date of 3⁄3. I immediately noticed that his calendar wasn’t correct, and tried to point it out, but he was too busy talking over me to listen. Finally I was able to point out to him that he brought a calendar from last year. Then he didn’t believe me that 3⁄3 is a Thursday, because it was a Tuesday last year. I didn’t see the point in arguing with him on this. He then took about 90 seconds to walk through our apartment to take inventory. He told me was have about 3,200 pounds of stuff to move. He kept saying he wanted to only use 2 guys for the move since we didn’t have much stuff, but decided to quote me for 3. Then he couldn’t remember if the hourly rate was $ 150/hr or $ 155/hr, so he just charged me the higher price. He told me that I need to immediately reserve our elevator. I told him our apartment doesn’t give us that option. He kept saying how he’d never heard of that. Then I he said we should immediately reserve the elevator at the new apartment. Again, I explained that it was first come first serve and no reservations were excepted. He again repeated how he’d never heard of that. I’m not sure how long he’s been doing this, but not every apartment reserves elevators. He told me that it’s a 3 hour job with 3 guys plus the hour travel charge, which was all in line with our other quotes. But then he told me that since it’s an apartment and the guys can’t park the truck right outside our front door, and will have to walk down the hallway, that he needed to quote an additional 2 hours. So all together 7 hours for our little apartment. Ridiculous. I noticed on his inventory list that he only marked one tv. I asked him if he had noticed that we have 2 tvs, one in the living room, and one in the bedroom. He had not. I thought that was the point of him coming to our apartment to take inventory. I guess a 32″ tv is hard to spot in a 850 square foot apartment. All together for 7 hours at the higher hourly rate, it was going to cost over $ 1000. Apparently we are lucky because we saved the box our tv comes in, because that costs even more. He asked if I had other quotes, and I told him I had several others and all were half his quote. He couldn’t understand how that was possible. He told me that his estimate is binding, which means that is the price we pay. Of course they guarantee their price, because there is NOWAY it will take 7 hours. But that’s what you pay for. So when the guys finish in 3 or 4 hours, I would still be out another $ 500. No thanks.

Just moved from DC to the southwest and couldn’t have been happier. The estimator, the office manager, and the driver who both picked up and delivered were all exceptionally attentive. The actual movers were METICULOUSLY careful with all our stuff, including art works, thousands of books, and the usual family property. Best move I’ve ever had.

I used Kloke on my move from Indiana to the DC metro area. My employer paid for this move, so I can’t comment too much on the price and the comparison of this service to other vendors, but I can say that Kloke did a great job. ‘Donna’ was my moving coordinator and she was very prompt in returning my calls, working with me to schedule my move and making sure things worked out. The only complaint I have is the choice of company Kloke used to pack my things

The office staff is excellent and my surveyor was professional. The actual movers themselves were awful! I was paying by the hour, so of course they carried one box at a time down the stairs, took frequent long breaks and didn’t seem to care about taking time to wrap and protect my belongings. Frankly, I am convinced they picked most of the crew up off the side of the road that morning. Had no clue what I meant when I talked about using straps to carry multiple boxes and maximizing their time. After multiple complaints on moving day to the front office, I was not charged for the additional time they took(2 extra hours!) beyond what we budgeted. Not sure how you can avoid this issue of inexperienced movers, but just wanted to warn others!

Kloke(United) moved my household(over 5000 sf) to the midwest and the service was exceptional. We had a large house that was completely packed by them and put in storage for over a month. When we found a new home, delivery and unpacking was just as professional.

This moving company has the worst customer service. David, the person who was supposed to be my liaison for my move, never showed up for my appointment to assess how much the move was going to cost. He, also, never showed up for the day of the move as he had promised that he would be to speak to the movers directly, so that I did not have to explain my move again to another person. He was supposed to coordinate the move by telling the movers what items I had, so they could bring the proper equipment and he did not do that either. I don’t know what kind of business they’re trying to run here, but it’s clearly not customer service oriented.
