Sardis is a cute little hole in the wall in Manassas that is honestly like any other Peruvian chicken place. The good news is, Peruvian chicken is the BOMB and you really can’t go wrong! It’s sad that apparently it’s closed. I could’ve sworn I went recently and it was great then.

Favorite Peruvian place, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. You have to ask for the Cuy special, it’s the best in the state!

Went by today and This location is no longer Sardis. I asked the cashier and was told the The restaurant changed name a couple weeks ago and is no longer Sardis. I tried the chicken and sides and they didn’t have the same flavor I expected. Customer service good but overall food quality was bad.

This Sardi’s pales in comparison to the other ones I’ve visited. They were out of a lot of sides but of the ones available, they looked like they’ve been sitting out for hours. The chicken was not hot and fresh out of the grill. The server behind the counter didn’t English and was unable to take our orders… He kept messing up until another person, I’m assuming the manager, stepped in. Lesson learned, will avoid this location in the future!

Went here on a whim with a buddy of man. Thank goodness for whims! Small restaurant in a strip mall, upon entering, I noticed it was very small, there were a few latino families eating and admittedly I was a bit confused as to protocol. So I sauntered up to the counter where you could see several common sides in heater trays behind glass & a rotisserie with whole chickens putting out an amazing smell. This is not only a chicken joint, this is a full blown Peruvian restaurant, very quickly a young lady behind the counter told us to let her know if we had any questions. I was really tempted to get the ceviche but, decided on the beef heart skewers(Anticucho Corazon). I then sidled to the left and paid then took a seat. My buddy got a ¼ chicken, plantains, & «fried rice»; his meal came out very quickly & I assumed was good. Much like Homer, he was in «can’t talk, eating» mode. My hearts came out, with a side of Peruvian corn(with ginormous kernels) & a potato. Wowza, the heart was amazing, tender, flavorful, & delicious. If I had to complain, I’d say it had a wee bit too much cumin but that was so minor, let’s not even address it. The potato too was well cooked, crispy outside & fluffy inside. OK, I’m a gringo, the corn threw me off. I liked it but, next time(oh yes there will be a next time) I think I’ll get rice. So, if I had a complaint, what would it be? The service was a little bit slow but, this very well could have been lack of assertiveness on my part & the pleasure I was taking in reading the menu. I will be back here with no doubt & maybe next time, I’ll actually get ceviche. But I gotta tell you, I heart the hearts & could have devoured 4 or 5 servings.

Peruvian inspired roasted chicken at its near finest. This underdog Hispanic heritage owned restaurant is a nice place to find some of the best chicken and sides at a lower cost then most of its revivals of not all. It’s not the only place in Manassas(i.e. Guapos) But it’s prices are better and you get way more amounts. If you’ve never had roasted chicken, now is the time to try it out. For us more experienced in this foods, you won’t be let down by the chicken. The atmosphere of the place could be described as low end or cheap, but if it’s good food your looking for this is the place. Totally recommended for casual eat outs, probably not for something more formal. Sizzling chicken is what awaits in this joint.

Sardis is Sorry. Terrible with an attitude. Got there before lunch with the idea that the chicken would be fresh and hot. The chicken was cold and when my girlfriend politely asked for reasonably warm chicken the staff became extremely dismissive. They grabbed the plate and went to the back!!! I probably should of walked out. I didnt and I regret it. The food overall was bland and lukewarm to cool at best. Moreover it appears I got carryover chicken from the previous night. I can let a miscue on food go. I can’t let it go when the cook, girl behind the counter and manager giving me an attitude and talking about me in Spanish — a language I understand. This is a place that is better to ignore and drive to the other chicken establishments in Manassas.

Really good chicken! I also like the carne Asada. Their sauces are on point. Especially the salad dressing. I really want to know their recipe. I’ve been to Peru and I have to say this is way better than anything I had there which is sad but the truth

Not from the Manassas area, but I’ve had the pleasure of dining at this establishment 3 times. Been delicious each time. Got the whole charbroiled chicken twice and it was awesome. Last time had the Churrasco de Pollo chicken breast dinner which was slightly dry but still very good. Each side dish I’ve tried has also been good. Staff is very friendly. Recommended. I should really expand on this review one day. Of the four or five«Pollo a la Brasa» places I’ve tried since I discovered this cuisine, this place sticks in my mind as the best.

Sardis is a simple counter service operation that serves above average Peruvian food and Pollo a la Brasa. It’s priced a few dollars above other places with similar menus but may, arguably, be worth it… there’s a larger selection of sides and they serve«for here» food on real plates with metal silverware. The chicken is well seasoned and juicy but lacks the crispy skin I prefer. Pollo Saltado was above average but needed extra salsa verde to perk it up.

Clearly that girl Stayce J is on crack. I’ve been living in the USA for 11 years(God bless America) and this is without a doubt the best Peruvian restaurant I’ve been too! Heard it was taken over a few months ago by a famous Peruvian chef and decided to give it a shot. I tried the Ceviche Mixto and the Lomo Saltado and they blew my mind. The freshness of the ceviche was incomparable and the juiciness, tenderness of the steak. Wow! For a moment I felt like little angels were playing ‘Ode To Joy’ by Beethoven while I was eating that succulent food. The staff was amazing and friendly, you can tell its a family restaurant by how they treat their customers. Felt like I was having a Saturday lunch at my parents house. Food took me straight to Peru, definitely giving this restaurant 5 starts and I’ll be coming back several times! Peace out!

I’m going to be honest — I’m new to Peruvian food. If you want a review from an expert, I suggest you skip to the one below @Kevin H.‘s as he knows Latin food. Regardless, I do know good food when I taste it and almost everything here has been absolutely delicious. The chicken is moist, well-seasoned(not overpowering or spicy — if any hesitant newcomers were wondering), and goes well with or without the green dipping sauces they offer. I have very little self-control when I get a Sardis order of chicken and have come close to making myself sick… not from the food, but from simply overeating in a very short amount of time. The sides that I have tried — arroz chaufa and plantains — are served in healthy portions and are delicious in their own right. The ceviche mixto was almost like a dream. It is fresh, unbelievably flavorful, and is partnered smartly with sweet potato and peruvian corn. The reason I use ‘almost’ is because in my dreams, a young, equally delicious man is delivering fresh ceviche mixto to my apartment for free at least once a week. Sadly, that is not my reality, but that doesn’t detract me from ordering it every chance that I get. I plan to try more menu items during my next trek to Manassas. I tracked this place on Facebook and discovered that the family who owns this restaurant includes a couple of skilled chefs who offer occasional specials(!!!). Overall, this place is a great find… quality food for a fair price.

This place is great. To understand the context of this review you need to know that I spent 25 years in South Florida. In other words, I know Latin food. I have tried many of their dishes. Beans– The black beans are not great, but then again this is a Peruvian joint, not a Cuban joint. So my expectations were low. I’m pretty sure they are from a can. The red beans are where it’s at, lots of flavor, great texture. They taste authentic. Chicken– whoa. This is why you come to Sardi’s. SOMUCHFLAVOR. They marinate the chicken for 24 – 36 hrs. Then they roast it over organic charcoal. If you are coming for your first time, don’t mess around with anything else. Get the ¼ chicken with two sides. Sweet Plantains– These are about as good as they come. If you like plantains, order them. Fried Yuca– I’m going to make a comment that might make my Floridian readers think I’ve gone mad. This place has the BEST fried yuca I have ever had. Sauces– The verde sauce is very good. Just enough kick. I get one of these, and two yellow sauces. The yellow sauce is downright incredible. I dip both my chicken and yuca in there. Portions– Let me just put it this way… I didn’t finish my meal today. I ALWAYS finish my food. Customer Service– I have been to this place 20+ times. The customer service has always been top notch. Very accommodating, very friendly. The only thing they are missing is cuy, which they will never have because I’m pretty sure it’s illegal in our country.
