Blue Steel Cyclery has moved to 22 Amherst Rd, Sunderland, MA. I decided to give them a try because they were new to the area, having taken over the same space as Flye Cycle who went out of business. I bought a Kona Essato DDL from them. They did an excellent job of assembling the new bike and I took it on a 200 mile tour of mid-coast Maine last week. The bike performed flawlessly and I am very happy with their recommendation to buy this bike. I have been extremely pleased with their attention to detail, friendly service(Cathy and Will are easy to talk to and explain things clearly). For the first time in several years I feel I have a local bike shop that is responsive, easy to talk to, and whose repairs i can rely upon. I wish Blue Steel Cyclery all success in their new location. Thanks guys!

I bought my bike a my wife a bike back when it was Naults. Wish it was still Naults. New owner is a Dick. I bought a bike for my father in law there simply because it was the best sized bike for the price. Guy was a complete dink when I was asking questions on the bike we bought and the other one we were considering. Only bought it because it was the next fit for him. I’ve been back 2 times looking for bike parts. They had nothing I was looking for and was fed a line of crap about the one fat bike in stock… Wish it was Naults still.

The owner of this shop is terrific and they are supportive of racing, which I like. I have purchased wheels and components there but not bikes and have used their service department several times. Sadly, I made my last visit this past Saturday. The service department has done good work in the past but the person in charge at times has been inconsistent in terms of road bike knowledge. I was suspicious of what I was told was wrong and how it might be repaired and went to another shop to have my suspicions confirmed the same day. Also, I went in with a broken shift cable on my road bike and was told it was a two week wait and that all repairs get in line no matter what they are. So a flat tire is in and out as quickly as a new group install or major overhaul? Finally, when the employees make negative comments about the place/management in front of customers, it doesn’t seem like a healthy environment to bring my bike. I’m sad because I REALLY wanted to support this local shop, but had too many strikes to continue.

We went in to ask about truing a wheel and the person working said it was 10 to 15 dollars and to come in the next day and speak to Adrian. They said it could be done«while we wait». When we came in the next day Adrian told us it was $ 20 minimum per wheel and would not budge on that price, and it wouldn’t be done until the next day. Uh, no thanks… It’s the middle of winter and you can’t be doing great business as you said only 4 people came in before us all day, so why would you turn away customers by not having your prices straight? There are too many places in the area(Goodales, Bike Barn) to come here.

Boys were a bit reserved at first but then they loosened up and were very helpful once I let them know I was serious about biking. They had some downhill racers in the shop on a Sunday morning talking smack — all good signs of a real bike shop. and they knew the local cross country scene for MTB. I bought a 29er tire and used their compressor to mount it tubeless, they even tweaked my dérailleur as a parting gesture. I gave the mech some beer money for the favor. I’d come back there even though it’s more than buying online.

Great shop. The bike techs have a great handle on service, product and advice. They always give the NEMBA discount and the shop owner rides too. They also have spin class during the colder months and group rides when it warms up. If Blue Steel doesn’t have something you need or want they will hunt it down and order it for you. All in all great shop with a very smart owner!

I have been a customer since the shop was Naults. I met a guy at Naults that made me swear I would never go back, but I did. I have gone back many times since, if that guy wasn’t working. Since it has become Blue Steel, he doesn’t work there anymore and the customer service has been excellent. I talked about buying wheels 3 times before I actually bought them and each time I talked with them about it, they were willing to go through everything all over again. I have been to all the other LBS in the area and Blue Steel seems to be the most honest with me.

Went a few months back, I was the only one in there with 2 guys working. No one said anything to me. I have no idea how they expect to sell anything not greeting customers and asking if they need help. They give the local bike shop(LBS) a bad name. Cycling is a hobby, we at least share the same hobby if I’m in the store and you’re working there. Oldest family owned bike shop, they must be rich because I don’t know how they sell bike with that type of service. I give them one star because they sponsor rides. I think its a great opportunity for cyclists to get together.
