Three of us ordered dinner from their«Mid Winter Tasting Menu» and we loved it! At just $ 23.95 each, we received a very generously portioned three course meal. The menu offers four starters(a Tomato, Carrot, and Tarragon Bisque, a Baby Leaf Spinach Salad, Stuffed Phyllo Pastries, and Sauteed Maine Mussels), five entrees(Trio of Medallions, Roasted Long Island Duck Breast, Prosciutto-Wrapped Atlantic Ocean Halibut, and Pasta Bolognese), and three desserts(White Chocolate & Blueberry Bread Pudding, Blackberry Lemon Cheesecake, and Classic Bananas Foster. I started off with the Sauteed Maine Mussels in a parmesan herb cream sauce served with a nice wedge of toasted bread. The mussels were great! Nice and fresh and the broth was flavorful and with a hint of curry. In fact, I wished I had a spoon for all of it. My entrée was«Trio of Medallions». The trio consisted of grilled pork, veal, and beef medallions. They were fork tender and were all delicious. The meats were served with a brandy peppercorn gravy, yukon gold whipped potatoes, and grilled asparagus. This was a seriously excellent plate! And of course, dessert was included, and I opted for the White Chocolate & Blueberry Bread Pudding that was served with decadent scoops of Vanilla bourbon crème anglais and vanilla bean bourbon ice cream. First of all, it was a huge portion, and secondly it was incredibly good. All that great food for just $ 24? How cool was that!

My husband and I came here with a large group of people for a birthday celebration. We were seated quickly, and our waitress did separate checks right away which was very convenient. The menu had a lot of potential, but the food was not executed properly, and the price was very high for the portions we received. I ordered the beef Wellington special. It would have been great but the filet was well done and very dry. It only came with a vegetable, no potato. My husband ordered the pan seared scallops. He only had 4 scallops on the plate and the risotto it came with was cold. For what we paid, we were not satisfied. Overall, the service was good, but the food was just okay.

The burger was undercooked and soup very oily. Italian wedding soup had no meatballs or cheese. Also, the table behind us sent back the beef wellington plus a pork chop for both being undercooked. They got both items taken off the bill, but we got nothing. All in all I would have been ok with giving it a second chance if the service wasn’t so bad. Oh well, there are always new restaurants to try!

I brought my mom here for lunch, as it seems this is the new go to spot for my peeps in that area. I really didn’t see the big deal. I ordered the clam chowder, which was way too thick to call it soup. I thought I couldn’t go wrong with the lobster macNcheese, however the lobster smelled a little rank, like it had been previously frozen and then left out to thaw. It ruined the overall taste of the macncheese.

Decent enough place. We went here with my friend and her family and had a great time. My fish tacos were good. My daughter loved her chicken tenders and French fries… they accommodated my hubby and made him a chicken Rueben instead of corn beef… but they did not tell us there was sausage in their rice and I took a bite of it… thus the three stars. The place was dead on a Sunday… not sure what that means. I would come back but it is not my first choice.

One of my favorite spots to meet up for drinks! The atmosphere is trendy, yet cozy and really draws in a nice clientele. The patio area with fireplace is the perfect spot for cooler nights. My favorite app is the mussels but they seem to have changed the recipe a few times. The creamy sauce I used to live has been replaced with a more tomato based sauce that just isn’t as good. I wish they would bring the original back. Entrees are always good. I’m not a steak lover, but the steak here is one I can eat and always be satisfied with. The drink selection and quality is really great as well!

Use to love this place but they recently changed their menu entirely and now there’s nothing on it that I like anymore… they need a couple more salad options for people like me who don’t eat meat. Bring the lemon evo dressing and Everything but the kitchen sink salad back please!!!

This was my second visit to the Market Grille. Previously it was a trip to the bar for cocktails after a movie. This visit was during CT restaurant week. Our waiter was attentive and offered suggestions based on our tastes. Was introduced to a fantastic new pumpkin beer which became a quick favorite for the fall. The meal was served quickly while still letting us enjoy ourselves. Not disappointed at all and we’ll be back!

Ordered a $ 32 porterhouse steak for my birthday on a slow Sunday night at 4:45pm. The waiter brought me a New York strip with no T shaped bone, no tenderloin meat, and charge me for a porterhouse steak. When I told the waiter there was no tenderloin on my steak he replied«it happens». Normally I’d educate the waiter on the difference between a T-bone, a porterhouse, a fillet, and a New York strip in the USA but my wife gave me the let it go and don’t make a scene look. It’s really a shame because I wanted to give this place 5 stars, our first visit last year was amazing. Anyway, I was robbed and Market Grill is only getting 1 star. «It happens»

Nice job. I really liked this place. Been here few times, great great view in the summer when you sit outside in the large patio, awesome sunset too. Food is good, service is good. I had a nice large work gathering there and they put us in there private room, was wonderful and great service. Good set up. Back soon.

Gone here a bunch of times. Been eating through their menu, and have yet to find something ‘terrible’ or ‘raw’ or ‘rotten’ in the course of my menu travels. Unlike some reviewers, everything I have tried so far is decent. Somebody posts a pic of some rancid squid dish and I’m like…” ISTHISTHESAMEPLACE???” and«THEYHAVE A GOODPHILICHEESESTEAKSANDWICH, WHYAREYOUORDERINGDEADSQUID??» Had a really good squash bisque the other night. Could it have been served a bit warmer? Yes, but not a deal breaker. Im a fan of the egg noodles with wild mushroom sauce. Had it several times. Never had a waitress issue there, they have all been friendly and efficient. As for the prices, you can get low budget choices that wont run you more than 15 bucks, or you can blow some cash on a 30 dollar steak. Overpriced? If you’re looking for some ’pizza place giant bowl of linguini’ for ten bucks, well no this isn’t for you. Market Grill isn’t some mind blowing culinary experience, but its pretty good. With a little tweaking,(keep your soup warm, don’t serve somebody rancid squid) it could be very good!

I love this spot. The food and service is always phenomenal and I adore their outdoor seating on the patio. Even on the chill fall day that we went, we were able to sit outside with the heat lamps. I ordered the Santa Fe salad and my friend ordered the mac and cheese — both were top notch. Be warned — the mac and cheese is heavy but it’s SO good!!!

Market Grille. Sigh. TLDR: Food is hit or miss — either flavorful or bland depending — sometimes items within one dish. There were quite a few failures to execute on what could have been delicious. Service is unacceptably slow. Atmosphere is pleasant and laid back. Quite nice to sit outside in the summer. Long version: So we started off on such a good foot. We were seated outside immediately and a waiter came over to get us started off with drinks which were followed shortly by a couple of dinner rolls. Warm and pretty good. Nothing exciting, but nothing disappointing. They were playing Bob Marley and friends over the speakers. Random lol. We decided to go with the Sunday/Monday Fixed Price Dinner. Looked like some solid options. I ordered the Spinach/Berry salad. It was delicious. A variety of berries on top of spinach topped with a berry vinaigrette that wasn’t too sweet. Very nice. My partner started with the mussels. I don’t eat them so I can’t comment on that, but I liked the presentation. They came out in a Cuisinart pot(seriously haha!) and they were piled in there. He said that they were delicious. Serviced with a triangular slice of toast. This is where things went downhill as far as service. My partner finished the mussels before I finished my salad so his plate was cleared. When I finished, my salad plate was removed. Then we had to wait forever before our main courses came out. It was so long that we finally decided to ask someone about it. When my partner found our waiter he offered a weak apology about not wanting our main course to come out while we were still working on our appetizers.(Note that the table next to us had both their unfinished appetizers/salads on the table AND their main course before we got our main course and they were seated after we were.) Eventually he showed up with a couple more dinner rolls once again saying our food would be out soon. Eventually, our food came out. I had ordered the salmon. It was pan seared I think a little overly so. It came on a salad of tomatoes, toasted bread squares(like croutons), cucumber and avocado. It was topped with a delicious pesto and what I think was oregano, but I’m not sure. The pesto was such a great touch, but I felt they were a little too skimpy considered how light the flavor of salmon typically is – especially because the pan searing lacked any other seasoning. That said, I can’t eat much pesto due to my lactose intolerance anyway so it’s for the best. My partner ordered the steak. He was pleased with it and said it was a cut above the local chain restaurants, which was nice. For dessert, they were kind enough to permit my partner to substitute coffee for the dessert options and to bring it out from the beginning of the meal. I opted for the apple streusel sans whipped cream. It was delicious. The crust was flaky and warn and the apples were perfectly spiced with cinnamon and not too sweet. My partner said the coffee was only so-so and so he turned down a third cup. I might return if I wanted a quiet place to sit outside and maybe try a different main course. We’ll see. It’s a little pricey for the service though.

What a lovey place to enjoy some food, drinks an a beautiful view of the Farmington Valley and downtown Hartford! Great happy hour menu, food is good. Had the risotto balls with bleu cheese fondue and was yummy and the clam strips were perfect! Had the lobster salad over avocado, was bland, wouldn’t recommend it.

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant each time I have been. However every time I have been the waitresses have lacked personality. The hostess was always friendly and the restaurant was always clean and delightful. Today, once again, my family went to lunch and my waitress lacked everything — our experience was equivalent to that of takeout… but I must say the food was excellent. I find it unfortunate that service lacks when food and ambiance are wonderful. I will go back for the food because it is just that tasty! Food = 5 Service = 2 Ambiance = 5

Had such a lovely girl’s night at Market Grille last weekend! We started the evening with the Onyx blackberry mojitos by the fireplace on the patio while we waited for our table. When we were sat, our funny and awesome waitress took our order. The three of us ordered the risotto of the day(chicken, bacon, and Parmesan), pan-seared sea scallops with mushroom risotto, and salmon burger with sweet potato fries. The full plate of risotto was tasty, but a tad dry. The scallops were tender and paired nicely with the mixed mushroom risotto. My favorite was the salmon burger, however(completely biased). It was topped with blood orange mayo(not too plentiful or overpowering), roasted red peppers, and cilantro cabbage slaw. To be honest, I could have done without the roasted reds on this dish. The salmon was very flavorful and the sweet potato fries were crisp and salty. They were paired with ketchup, but aioli would have been more appropriate. After another round of blackberry mojitos, we were beyond full. No dessert tonight! Only one thing was off. We made a reservation and were told upon arrival that there were no seats open on the patio. No problem, I put my name on the list to wait, about 30 mins or so. Someone else came in with a reservation for 15 mins later and opted for the same outdoor list. After alerting the host staff that we would wait for our table at the outside bar, I noticed them seating the second arrival before us. Not the end of the world, but a bit annoying on a busy Friday night.

Service was fine, and atmosphere was interesting enough, but the food failed to shine. My Reuben was pretty bland, it’s sauerkraut unmistakably from a can and thousand island from generic bottle. Minor sins perhaps, but an $ 18/after tip lunch deserves better. Also, Reubens need rye, the pretzel bun is a cute idea, but it doesn’t work. Also the caesar salad sank — with light dressing, shaker parmesan, and croutons being the only sign of the name sake.

This was a solid place. I was a bit nervous going here based on some of the reviews, but the ambience, meal, and service made for a pleasurable experience. The restaurant itself is huge. There seems to be an infinite number of tables and chairs everywhere. They do need to come up with a consistent theme though. From the cowboy/cow print on the chairs to the apples when you walk in, I can’t tell if they’re going for a western theme or more«farm to table» style. The service was timely and very friendly. We ordered the mac n’ cheese, steak salad, and a tuna sandwich. All were very good, especially the steak. It was cooked well, tender, and melded well with the mixed greens. I would definitely come here on a weekday when it isn’t as crowded. And like other reviewers said, it’s a nice addition to the choice of restaurants in the area.

Went here for the first time last night with my boyfriend and i keep going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. It was a Friday night and hosted said 15 min wait for dining room which was fine but we saw a table in the bar area so we grabbed that instead. Tables in bar are nice and big and comfy. Our waitress brittney was pleasant and checked on us regularly. Only thing i didn’t like is we had to ask for bread; table next to us got a big basket of bread for their two people(which they didnt even touch) yet when i finally asked for bread we were rushed over only 2 rolls and seemed like she didnt want to give it to us. Also we were never provided water– guess because we were in the bar but feel like when eating dinner water should be provided. Now the food… First we got the mussels for an appetizer. They were good(not great) but not hot and the sauce in the bowl was like non-existent. Presentation was nice but wish we had more sauce and a little hotter. My boyfriend got the chicken and sausage rigatoni. This was delicious! Im picky with pasta sauces so i never order it but this vodka sauce was good, the carmelized onions were great. I got the 8oz steak medium rare with demi glaze. Steak was cooked perfectly! I just had a bad experience with steak at cheesecake factory so i was hesitant to order but glad i did. Came out hot and red. The demi was ok, i don’t think I’m a big fan of demi glaze i should’ve got the herb butter but it was fine. Mashed potatoes were sooo creamy and delicious. The veggies were ehh had cracked black pepper on them which I don’t like so i didn’t eat them. The drinks– they seem to have very unique interesting drinks. I want to go back and try more of the infused liquors. I settled for the blackberry onyx moonshine cosmo. It was delicious, i had 2! Overall good(not great) experience. Everything was good just wasnt blown away. Definitely doesnt deserve some Of the bad reviews on here based on my experience. So ive settled for 4 stars but more like 3.5.
