I have recently become a fan of the Mandeville Library. It’s conveniently located near my house and offers me a reprieve from the daily chaos that is my life. I am from the southshore and am used to the giant establishment that is the Jefferson Parish library system. The Mandeville library is sort of a throwback to the original Old Metairie library on Metairie road. It’s small and quaint. I don’t get lost in it like the regional library in Metairie. If there is not a copy of the book that you are looking for, you can usually request it from another library. I have done this several times and usually get my book within a week of requesting it. The kids section offers tons of titles for my 10 year old to get lost in. He enjoys spending a few hours browsing the shelves. From periodicals, to DVD’s, audiobooks, CD’s and computer access, this small library has a big offering of material. Friendly staff members are always willing to help you out when requested. I also notice on the bulletin board that there is always some event going on each month. Afternoons can get pretty busy with students studying. I have even noticed kids getting tutored here before. Sometimes all of the dozen or so computer terminals are taken. Wi-fi is also available if you are the bring your own type of person.
