I will give them five stars when they make the sweet potatoes a permanent menu item, since they’re my favorite.

This little food cart caught my eye due to the friendly green sign and the pictures of healthy food options in a part of town where street meat is king and healthy food is charged at a premium. 99% Vegetarian is a rare find it’s cheap, healthy, and reliable. The only down side for me is I work way downtown and it’s a 7 block walk to find this cart, but on a warm summer day where I am craving a healthy option that’s not a 10 dollar salad this cart is as good as it gets. Try the Veggie Chilli and the Veggie Eggs(the secret is Turmeric and black pepper which if you’ve kept up on the literature on inflammation and health this ingredient with black pepper will keep you Unilocaling for decades to come.) I felt like a character in an RPG and my health indicator was getting boosted +10 after eating the veggie eggs. 4 stars! I Still need to try the veggie burger when it gets warmer.

Still 4 stars — have tried some different options as well. Went for the single non-vegetarian item on the menu — the chicken — and was pleased. As far as streat meat chicken goes, this was rather tasty and nicely seasoned dark meat. As far as the veggie burger(which I noted was a bit over-crispy) — well, that was still over-crispy. I wish they would could it to the equivalent of medium-rare so that it would hold its moisture a little bit better. It’s still tasty, as is the rest of the food — which is why I keep going back.

I love this cart. A healthy & filling lunch in FiDi for $ 6. The ‘real chicken’ is absolutely fantastic, and the portions are great. I generally get: Rice — It’s rice. Real Chicken — Tasty, grilled but still moist, loads of it Beans — Tasty & not chalky like you’ll find at most carts Veggies — Healthy and again, really generous portions The veggie patties are great too. Plus, there’s hardly ever a line!

I love veg food, and I *hated* this cart. Tofu scramble — blech! bland, gross(and I love tofu, so disappointed!); Chili — blech! seitan and beans, but not much else, gross; Pasta — bland(ok, who expects pasta from a cart to be good, that was my bad) The veggie burger was the only redeeming thing about the meal, and still, for a veggie lunch option in FiDi I’d still go for one of the falafel cart’s, the great veggie combo from Alan’s Halal, or even veggie dumplings from A-po’s! BOO99% Veg, you are 89% gross.

Love the food at this cart. I’m not a big fan of Tofu, but their scrambled tofu is quite delish. Most of the the options are flavorful for vegetarian food. I tried the ‘real’ grilled chicken and was quite surprised by how good it was. and they are quite generous with this portions. They have guacamole sauce on Tuesdays and Friday’s, which is my favorite.

How exciting is it for the vegetarian lunch truck to be more than holding its own with the street meat trucks. OK so you need to know that I am a huge fan of sweet potatoes — for while I was eating so many of them my hands were turning slightly yellow. So imagine how glad I was to find that I can get a double serving of mashed sweet potato with a serviceable homemade veg burger or veg chili or even scrambled tofu all for $ 6 here. The first time I tried scrambled tofu was from this truck and I was pleasantly surprised.

Blech. $ 6 and you get 4 choices. To be honest, I’m a bit of a meat-eater, so perhaps this review is biased toward that, but on a healthy day I came to this cart. I got: 2 choices of fake eggs, side of veggies, and side of mashed sweet potato. Of the four, only the mash was good. It tasted well… like mashed sweet potato. Nothing special, but good. The others were kind of ick. Veggies were way overcooked, and the eggs are too bold in their spice. Too much cumin, I think? Either way, not in love.

I looked at the menu and the prices and what the heck for $ 6.00 for 4 items or $ 3.00 for 2 items, I gave it a try and now go here at least once a week. It is located 1 block from the famous Century 21 store, in Liberty Square, amongst lots of food vendors, in front of the Brown Brothers Harriman building at 140 Broadway. The food is fresh, healthy, plentiful, delicious and inexpensive — what more could you ask for. I usually get the veggie sandwich — burger in a whole wheat pita, comes with veggies(peppers, onions, carrots) and scrambled tofu, topped with a tomato sauce. And for the side, either the vegetarian chilli, brown rice or mashed yams. Yup, 2 items for $ 3.00 or 4 items for $ 6.00 — that’s a steal especially for NYC prices..

This is what all food trucks/restaurants should be like. The food was sooo incredibly tasty. I got the scrambled tofu, vegetarian chili, vegetarian chicken and mashed sweet potatoes and it was all sooo yummy!!! This was also quite a deal since it was only $ 6 and I will probably have leftovers from my lunch for dinner. I almost always bring lunch from home to save money and because I think I cook better food than most places but this place hit the spot and I’m definitely going to go back there again soon! The people who were working there were also so sweet and nice. I highly recommend trying this place :)

Just so happens this place is a Vendy 2010 finalist and near my work place. I ordered the veggi chicken(topped with tomato sauce) with 3 sides — curry tofu, veggi chili and steamed vegetables. Grand total $ 6.00. I didn’t taste anything memorable. The tofu reminded me of mozarrella cheese texture but tasted like scrambled eggs. Veggi chicken and the vegtables were alright. I did like the veggi chili. With hot sauce, it tasted pretty good. It’s good portion size and pretty healthy street food if you’re not craving a salad. I think being a meat lover may have skewed my review. Perhaps vegetarians would have enjoyed this more than me.
