Cool vibe, nice décor, friendly bartenders with generous pouring skills, and tasty cocktails at reasonable prices make this a new go-to spot in this neighborhood. Happy Hour is a good deal. Bar seating is comfortable(though it could use purse hooks) and there is also table and couch seating in the room.

I can’t say enough amazing things about the beacon bar. We showed up at 7:20 pm with an 8pm concert start time. Being tourists, we were really stressed from getting lost on subways to now having approximately only 35 minutes to eat a meal. we were greeted by the bar manager, Lisa. She sat us in the lobby, which was cozy. We not only had our food by 7:30 but she tended to our every need. We didn’t want for a thing! Check was paid by 7:40 pm and we made it to our Mariah Carey Christmas concert just in time!!! Thank you so much to Lisa! The kind of care and kindness that Lisa showed is very rare nowadays. We appreciate the service that we received tonight!!! My family and I will recommend this place for years to come!

Saw a show next door and stopped in for a drink. Pretty cool ambiance and a great selection of cocktails and wine. Bartenders seemed very competent and knowledgeable and service was excellent. Didn’t eat anything, but the ceaser salad with real anchovies(well-done beacon bar) looked really good. They have the best happy hour in UWS! We will definitely go back.

I’ve always had a wonderful experience at the Beacon Bar. I’ve come both for a few drinks before heading to the Beacon Theatre and for early evening drinks and a bite to eat for chit-chat with co-workers. The menu is sophisticated and the food is delicious, my favorite being the chicken satay. The staff is always attentive and everyone behind the bar makes darn good drinks!

Cocktails are pretty good… If you can get them. Came by after a major show at the theatre. We always feel bad for the staff as it’s never busy here, so decided to stop in on our way home. Seated ourselves– which is fine. Waited a while for table service, but there were no staff on the floor, so went to the bar. The 2 barmen were chatting to random people, not preparing drinks. Finally was approached and asked if I was sitting at the bar, said we were at a table. Barman said he couldn’t serve me as a waitress would be over. We grabbed our coats and left. If it was busy there’d be no issue, but it was totally dead and they should have been prepared for an influx of customers after the show anyway. We came here a few times over the summer and the drinks were prepared really well, but after this we’ll just keep going to NYLO a couple of blocks away. Better setting and more attentive staff.

Nasty and rude bartenders. i am ok if you ignore me, but if you speak to me don’t be rude and mean! i live in the neighborhood and i will never go back. «cesca is one block away for pre-Beacon theatre drinks and actual food and way nicer and fun!

Had two excellent drinks. One made with a shrub and if you have never tried it, it is a must. The bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. The place was packed, but delivery time on the drinks was excellent

Discovered this place tonight after the Steely Dan concert next door in the Beacon Theater and I think I finally found an upscale mixology lounge on the Upper West Side I can call home! The décor is understated and elegant with sidewalk seating as well, although it was closed tonight due to rain. The service is VERY friendly and upbeat unlike a lot of the pretentious mixology bars downtown. If there’s one beef I have it’s the music. It’s ok but not too many recognizable tunes. At least they don’t blast it so you can have a decent conversation here. We sat at the bar and the bartenders are personable and funny. It seems like they play off each other with their humor and it makes for a jovial atmosphere. They make several infused vodkas here that are awesome, especially the Basil-Cucumber and Red Chili Vodka. The latter is used in a cocktail the bartender(I forget his name but he looked Asian and wore glasses) calls Peachy Thunder and it’s incredible! A perfect balance of sweet peach and spicy goodness. They must like peach here because they also have a white peach sangria that my friend had and she LOVED it. They also make their own version of Fireball they call JB Fury because apparently it uses Jim Beam bourbon as it’s base. I only had a little taste but it was fantastic. Way better than Fireball! They have a small«lite bites» menu that has some interesting items on it. I only had the mac and cheese but it was delicious and came out fast. My friend had the Mexican shrimp cocktail and she liked it a lot. It’s basically just a different take on salsa and chips but with big pieces of shrimp and avocado in the salsa. All in all it was a fabulous experience and I will definitely come back often!

Had a wonderful time with my sister. Stopped by for some drinks and what thought would be a quick pit stop ended up being a great long night! The food is fresh and perfect for a bar setting. And the drinks… Oh yes! The bartender Mike really knows what he’s doing! Very knowledgable and friendly! Will certainly be back!

Chivalry is not dead at the Beacon Bar. First of all how can you hate a place where the waiter gleefully opens the door for you? I decided to pop in for a drink and catch the Williams — Sands tennis match after getting my hair done down at Scott J on Columbus, Mike the bartender greeted me and introduced me to his newest concoction, the Peachy Thunder(picture in the gallery). Peach nectar, his personal infusion of chili vodka and some other goodies I can’t remember. The darn thing almost had me fall of my chair with it’s spicy sweetness. If you miss the 4th of July fireworks and BBQs give this a try for some summer 2015 flashbacks. Looking forward to come back and enjoy some more of Mike’s new creations.

We arrived early for a show a the Beacon Theater so we look for a place to grab a couple of drinks and what do we find right next door — the Beacon Bar. Can’t beat the location! The décor is modern, clean and loungy with many comfortable chairs and tables. We were able to grab some club chairs near the bar. The service was very good — attentive, but never felt rushed. I saw on Unilocal that the happy hour is everyday, but to be honest, I didn’t pay attention to drink prices for our gang of four. We each had a couple of cocktails and a couple of apps — it wasn’t the most expensive tab I ever had, but it was about average for Manhattan. I’m not sure if I would go out of my way to have a drink here, but if you are in the area or about to see a show its a great place to get your night started.

Been here a couple of times, def like the place in general. It’s a regular bar bar with a nice atmosphere. The happy hour is great, the food is great. Service is regular. I usually sit at the bar, I think next time I’m gonna sit at the tables to see how it differs.

Terrible service– changed happy hour and didn’t tell us despite our questions! Seriously; we have been regulars. To be ignored and then overcharged!

Just needed a random bar so my friend and I entered here. Surprisingly it turned out that it was actually a pretty decent one! The bar was pretty quiet(maybe because it was Monday evening) and sleek. The bartender was really nice and the drink was pretty strong too. We even got some complementary sweet potato chips, which was a plus.

The bartender was really, really nice, and he went above and beyond for me. The ambience was also great(check out the photos I added)… but I unfortunately have to get the Beacon Bar a 2 rating because of my biggest pet peeve. I ordered food to go(which they are not equipped to handle since they don’t have plastic utensils, bags, etc), but the bartender did his best. I brought my food back to my room. Just as I am settling in, I turn on the TV, and bite into my awesome looking caesar salad and I bite into a giant anchovy. I literally could not breathe. I have never been so grossed out in my entire life. I normally ask, but for some reason because this was a bar and it’s New York, I assumed that they would not have anchovies in a caesar salad. Usually, most places will give you a heads up that their caesar salad has anchovies in it. I still can not get that disgusting taste out of my mouth and I think I might be scarred for life. Tip for the bar: please give people a heads up that you put actual anchovy fish in your caesar salad.

LOVE Beacon Bar! Happen to stumble upon this place while looking to grab cocktails with a few friends. It seemed every where we went, it was mobbed — maybe it was the gorgeous weekend weather or the pre/post theater crowd… maybe both. Its very sleek and modern inside, little seating areas without that annoying«Reserved» signage, meaning a) you’re have to drop a lot of money to sit there… or b) you’re going to drop a lot of money to sit there. And it was relatively empty! The waitress did tell us that sometimes when shows are out at the Beacon Theater next door, it can get pretty crowded. But on this particular day, my 2 friends and I had this oasis to ourselves. Service was friendly and the drinks strong and they kept coming. They also serve little bites but the kitchen was closed on that particular day. Not that I care, was just looking to imbibe and Beacon Bar fit the bill perfectly.

I decided to give BB a second chance on my own, and a third chance after a nice email from the manager. Service has improved. Menu is limited, but for the location, its generally a good bet, especially for diverse groups. I wish their happy hour included at least one snack option, even if i don’t eat it, just as an option. Service can be fast or slow, especially if you’re at a cocktail table instead of the bar.

Right near Beacon Theater, so convenient to stop into for a drink before a show. It was a bit of an odd interior/set-up… a bit of an eclectic crowd(yes, even for NYC). Not sure whether there were a lot of hotel guests or regulars or what. Service was pretty good though, so no complaints there.

Terrible service from the bartenders — either they are inexperienced or just dont care especially for the crowd that is waiting for the theater. Even a bunch of folks trying to to make any sort of contact did not make a difference to these bartenders. If you are going to the theater and have sometime, find a different place — there are many others to choose from.
