Terrible customer service. Don’t bother trying to order a sandwich. The chefs ignore you or take the order of people who arrive after you. Terrible. Don’t give them your business.

Decent place for breakfast and coffee. Service is a hit or miss. Breakfast sandwiches are average. I still need to try their beignets!

Came here for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious :) my husband and I ordered the Californian and we were both satisfied. The portion is huge, but since they serve you in to-go containers, you can easily take the leftovers of whatever you order. And yes, just like everyone else has mentioned, the beignets were great! They are made fresh to order and go great with your coffee. Unfortunately I was only visiting, or else I’d eat breakfast here everyday! The man behind the counter did look a little stern, but I liked how clean and organized his food station was.

Beignets here are(dangerously) delicious. And large. But service left something to be desired. I came across the place while walking my puppy and asked if it was ok for me to hold my dog in my arms while swiping my credit card — waiting outside with dog rest of the time. I mean, if you tell me no, I can understand — that’s why I asked. But the guy just about bit my head off for asking. Ok, ok… Geez… What’s wrong with respectfully declining? Think yelling and being rude is a bit unwarranted. The guy seemed like he wasn’t American so maybe it was some kind of cultural misunderstanding where he felt insulted by the question? Not sure. Either way, I’m of the belief that there are pretty few justifications for yelling at customers, short of life threatening situations, and people hard of hearing. Anyhow, left a bad taste in my mouth that even the tasty beignets couldn’t erase. (Edit: learned from other reviews that apparently the sanitation nazi is none other than the owner himself.)

I eat here quite often, as I work across the street and there food and coffee are pretty good. Service from the staff can be inconsistent as I’ve gotten attitude from one of the cooks on several occasions. However, when the owner is around he is quite pleasant, personable and attentive; he always offers to dispense oatmeal for me even though it is self serve. Today my experience was less than exceptional. I was running late for work so I decided to call ahead 5 mins and place an order for pickup. When I got there I was told that my order wasn’t ready by the cashier as the cooks got a little busy. However after some observation, I realized that the place was not busy at all and the cooks didn’t even start to make my order. After a second inquiry, the cashier then handed my order to the cook and explained what I wanted– never offering me an apology for the delay– and abrasively telling me that I «have to wait» when it was obvious that the delay was caused by her lack of diligence in relaying my order to the cooks. I was already standing around for FIVEMINUTES, so I cancelled my order and will never place another!

The place was completely empty on a Saturday morning. The beignets were good since they made them fresh to order but I wouldn’t say they’re were anything to get excited about.

Had to check out beignets in the city, which were freshly made and quite delicious. I had them with café au lait to round out the New Orleans Café du Monde-esque experience. My brother ordered the chicken Milanese sandwich, which was really good, and he also had a freshly squeezed orange juice from the juice bar. Service was a little slow, but other than that, I’d recommend this place. It’s pretty spacious. Their salad bar and other prepared foods looked really good as well.

I am very embarrassed to say I have this place on speed dial!!! Their business card is taped on the side of my desk. Why you ask?! Well their beignets of course. They are made to order fresh, warm and fluffy sugary goodness for an afternoon snack with coffee hits the spot. Especially when you need a picker up after a long grueling day at the office this is a much needed guilty pleasure. I call them to order and go pick up. I have also tried their fresh sandwiches at lunch. Like the tuna salad and my work guy friends rave about lobster sandwich. The club is pretty tasty as well. I see many people like their breakfast. I have not tried it but i plan to since they have French toast! Yum

The salad bar is a good value and the beignets are delicious. The lady who works out front is kind of rude, twice I’ve been in there and neither time was she friendly. Definitely don’t try to come here to get work done. They close everything down really early, including the upstairs area. Couldn’t even enjoy my beignets there, had to go elsewhere. And this was over two hours before they«close.»

Came here for lunch wanting breakfast, ordered«The Californian» but didn’t realize there were two items on the menu with this name: a lunch sandwich and a breakfast plate. It was lunch time so the Manager Joaquin gave me the sandwich. Embarrassed, I returned it asking for the breakfast instead. He handled it very graciously, especially under the pressure from the lunch-time crowd. I got my omelette plate and it was one of the best I’ve had in the city. Flavorful, not over cooked, and not too greasy. I’d come again!

I started coming here on Friday mornings since it was so close to work, and of course as advertised I had to try the beignets. I don’t know that much about beignets, but seeing the man who makes these is the reason I love this place. He knows most of his customers by name, he’s been serving them for years. In a city where money flys fast and hospitality flys thin, spend your $ 4.75 here and get on the magical chewy sweet beignet bus at this lovable deli in TriBeCa

Oh, if I could retire now, I think I’d come often to have breakfast here and just luxuriate the time away. This is no run of the mill deli selling breakfast items and lunch. What a lovely, lovely place to have breakfast. Downstairs are where you can score a cosy booth f you come at the right time, while upstairs, in this airy, lofty space you’ll find a huge table, a TV and comfy seating for you to enjoy your coffee and sandwich. I actually came because my trusty Unilocal app pointed me, like a trusty hound, to the direction of beignets. Freshly made, 3 to an order for only $ 4.29. The texture was almost perfect in these huge rectangles, but they had a slight greasy aftertaste, as if the oil wasn’t used to fry was old or maybe not hot enough. I gobbled two down anyway. When you’re not in NOLA, you compromise and the beignets here are closest to what you can get. You can almost pretend you’re in some country bistro, with the wooden tables, the warm, homey vibe.

I work 1 block from Delimarie. I have been going to this deli for some time. The ambiance and staff are pretty good. However, I’d like to comment on two aspects of the deli: 1. The lunch buffet has many options; however, the hot food tends to be too salty especially for people who have high blood pressure. The salad are great and there are many options like sliced avocado, rarely found in other delis; beets, marinated shrimp, cole slaw, brussel sprout, rabe, chicken and tuna fish salads; jasmine rice, and various meat options. So, the variety is extensive. 2. This point is the most important: LACKOFFINESSEBYTHEOWNER. I had not realized that when I returned the serving spoon to the tray, it had slid down into the tray. A man approached me and very rudely told me that could be cause for a $ 2K fine from the Health Dept. I was so shocked, I didn’t answer. The following day, I returned to get the deserved FAMOUS beignets. Afterward, I approached this man and told him that it wasn’t what he said the day before about the spoon but it was embarrassing drawing the attention of other customers. This man, I later found out, was the owner!!! The man lied and said he had seen me do that before! He is a liar! I’m very finicky with where and what i eat. I would never do something like that ever. I asked this man if he spoke English because he obviously seemed not to understand, more like he didn’t care, how he spoke to a customer. Well, it was the last time I went to Delimarie and it is a shame because I have taken many colleagues and friends there. It is a nice place to eat a quick breakfast or lunch. I will not spend my money, take anyone there and definitely not recommend Delimarie because the OWNER is so rude. I have also observed him verbally abusing the staff and lurking over them watching every move they make. This owner needs to realize that if workers are mistreated in his country, this is the United States and there are laws to protect workers and a lawsuit can be brought against an individual for defamation. I took the time to write a lengthy review so others would know the man who LURKS in Delimarie is the owner and not a very nice person. I sorely miss the previous oriental owners who were gracious people. I give it a 3* because the staff and food are good. If I was rating only the owner, I would give it a ZERO!

I showed up on Black Friday to kill some time — the store I wanted to visit wasn’t open yet(grrr) and I wanted a warm place to get a simple breakfast and coffee. I found this place via Unilocal and loved it. It was a super quiet day and I love the cozy seating area. Had the California for b’fast, coffee for $ 8. If you’re in the hood, pop by for a quick, delicious and inexpensive breakfast!

This place is very quiet on the weekends. From what I understand there are a lot more options on business days(Hot food buffet, and fresh juice station). On the weekend it is sort of like a standard deli with a grill. French toast, omelets, and baked goods in the morning. They have a wide variety of coffee drinks. Atmosphere is nice but there is a little discontinuity in the decorations– Laminated table tops with nice wooden benches an pillows. Also, the food comes out in styrofoam take out boxes and you are given plastic flatware. Just a paper plate and metal silverware would give this place a boost in my book. Must order the beignets and eat them while they are piping hot. You might want a friend to help because it is three massive French doughnuts.

Where am I? A spotless, bright NYC deli that has all the basics plus freshly-fried beignets, a clean reasonable juice bar and a pleasant seating area with burlap coffee bag pillows? This is a great place to have your breakfast, sip some coffee and pretend you’re somewhere else. An order of 3 giant beignets for less than $ 4 is enough for 2 – 3 to share. The omelettes are delicious, replete with freshly-cut veggies. The service could be friendlier, but maybe I was being judged for(unintentionally) bringing coffee from the outside.
