Who knew that finding an engagement photographer would be so difficult? It wasn’t until I started my search did I start understanding and seeing all the different styles of photographers. Thanks to good ol online marketing, I stumbled across GE’s advertisement for a free engagement session on Facebook. Intrigued, I did a bit of digging. I found came across his feature on Huffington Post( ) and scrolled through his online portfolio. Confident that I had done enough research I picked up the phone to sign up for the free 30 minute session. Speaking to GE, you can clearly hear his passion behind his photography and his ability to capture emotions between his subjects — so confident that he can capture beautiful engagement photos that he uses the 30 minute sessions as a trial for couples. He does require a $ 75 credit card hold to ensure that people keep their appointments. We met GE on a warm sunny afternoon in Central Park, immediately we began our session as he guided us through. The session itself was a very different and very intimate experience. GE would direct us into a pose to obtain certain lighting but would then guide us through telling stories to evoke different emotions. He would give us scenarios and as we recalled different memories he would capture them. For example, there was a time that you guys were together that you didn’t love each other — now think back to that moment when you fell in love — what about that moment, what about them makes you love them? And then silence, GE allowed for us to think back on these fond memories. Few things to note, this is not your average engagement photo session. Most of the time we were told to keep our eyes closed and not smile. His photos aim to capture emotion rather than still poses. Throughout he encouraged us to do what felt natural, what felt right to reflect the feelings that were evoked. A very unique perspective. GE was very adamant about keeping his work a secret, with a smile he wanted to surprise us with our photos at the viewing. We have an appointment in a few weeks to review them where we will have the option of purchasing prints if we choose to. Included with this free session is a complimentary 100 credit that we can apply toward our purchase. I can’t wait to see how everything turns out. Will update once we see our photos.
