Several caveats right off the bat… 1. I’m not Spanish and really don’t know if this place is «actually» authentic, «seemingly» authentic, or just does a good job at being authentic. 2. It’s a lunch place. When I went there at about 6:30, their supplies were low, and it didn’t look like they’d be restocking. They were out of beans, and probably other stuff too. However, once you get past all of that, the food here is really good. I got the stewed chicken. It was flavorful, fall off the bone tender and delicious. I wouldn’t say that the portion was ginormo-huge, but it was good sized. And six dollars. Such value! There are a lot of options for lunch in this area, and J&G is one of the better ones, and one of the cheaper ones. Let us pray this continues.

The food is really tasty, they give large portions, and best of all it’s insanely CHEAP. What more could you want?

I’m a regular. This is our go to spot for lunch! Dominican food here is the bomb. Only $ 6 a plate, which feeds two people. Say what?! Don’t hesitate. Their food is real good. Love this place.

Dominican food in midtown east. I need not say more. They are legit! $ 6 for a lunch to feed two hungry nurses(easy)… & they deliver.

My favorite place to get Spanish food in Manhattan. You can get a meat dish over rice for only around $ 6. The portions are large and the food is really good. I got the pernil over rice and beans meal. The employees are also very friendly. I wish they had seating so that I could eat my meal inside, but it is a deli and seating would probably take up too much space.

J & G has become my new favorite breakfast spot near my apartment for one simple reason…$ 3 bacon egg & cheese sandwiches! Javier and his brother are awesome and after just two visits, knew my name and my order. Even though I sometimes come in for their reasonable(and very tasty) $ 6-$ 7 lunch plates, Javier defaults to my egg sandwich and gives it to me with no bag(on my request) each and every time otherwise. Service is fast and with a smile, and there’s always a handful of other frequent flyers inside getting their food fix at J & G. If you’re in the area, definitely stop in for a good meal!

This has to be one of the BEST Spanish food I have ever tasted!!! I highly recommend. I had yellow rice and beans and chicken. Everything was amazing the chicken fell off the bone so easily. Deff eating there again. And the workers there are very friendly and helpful. Great food and cheap, couldn’t ask for more

Hot, Spanish, authentic, tasty, cheap($ 6 for rice, beans, meat) comfort food for take-out. The workers there give heaping portions as if they want to give you as much as possible. Very friendly! Chicken is fall-off-the-bones tender. The meats are usually fresh even at night, but not all are created equal — find what you like. What a gem of a local spot.

Excellent Spanish food in Murray Hill. Ordered the arroz con habichuela(rice w/beans) with pollo guisado(Chicken Stew). Boy do they pack it on; def have enough for two night’s worth. Fresh, fast and inexpensive. What more can you ask for?

This bodega is fairly unremarkable other than the Spanish food selections and the fact that workers are exceptionally kind and friendly. I don’t come here much despite living close by but there’s nothing wrong with it by any means.

An absolute gem in the food wasteland that is Murray Hill. You will not find a better deal for the quantity and quality of food you get here. Especially great for those who live in the outer boroughs or uptown and are used to getting great ethnic food at bargain basement prices. For $ 6, you get a large container of your choice of rice(go with whichever non-white rice they have for the day, particularly the arroz con gandules), black or pinto beans and your choice of meat. The chicken breast with peppers, broccoli and onions is the stand out, as the chicken is juicy and well seasoned. Can’t speak for many of the other dishes, but there are pernil, steak and a number of fried dishes if you’re so inclined but be prepared for the inevitable itis comatose shortly afterward. The staff is very friendly and will remember you as you become a regular. Great beer selection and the place is very clean. Highly recommended lunch spot, part of my weekly rotation.

Great authentic Spanish food and even better pricing! This isn’t puffed up «Spanish food», this is a REAL deal Spanish bodega that serves Spanish food! Deli is an accurate term but I’d like to stick with the authenticity and call it a bodega. The food here is good and flavorful! Sometimes I feel as though they have their grandmother cooking it up in the back because the food is so homestyle! You get more than a generous amount of food for the price you pay especially compared to other places in this area. The service is friendly, quick and easy ANDANDAND they deliver!!! The only grip I have is when ordering over the phone, they should pay a little more attention as I have gotten the wrong order on more than one occasion. Luckily, I eat just about anything *blank stare.
