This Air Port is small. Only connecting flights come here from large cities. There are only vending machines here so make sure you eat something prior to arriving here. I like how it isn’t huge because you get in and get out quickly. And the baggage claim is tiny! I don’t like the small air planes they make me nervous, but that’s about it.

MHK is a special place. Free parking! Free wifi, and sometimes it even works! I live so close to this airport(6 minute drive) that the first time I showed up an hour before my flight, I was stunned to see TSA’s «garage door» closed and no one working. 30 minutes before the flight, TSA sprung into action. On either side of the secure area, there are restrooms and a vending machine. In the mornings, the waiting area outside of TSA has free coffee. Ticketing is in an attached trailer while the airport is under construction for a little upgrading and expansion. American Eagle operates ~5 flights a day to/from Dallas Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare. The prices are higher than other airports/airlines, but if you factor a 2+ hour drive to KC or Wichita, gas, and parking costs, it may likely even out and the convenience is pretty great. This past week, my flight was delayed 45 minutes so I showed up to the airport 30 minutes before the new departure time and TSA was already closed — oops! They had to reopen for me because apparently everyone else just wanted to sit and be bored, showing up before the original flight time. Oh well, the plane was not there yet so TSA’s 2 remaining employees opened the«garage door» and gave me the partial pre-check(liquids out but I can wear light jacket and shoes). The pro to flying out of MHK is the valet service — you can check your small carry-on size suitcase for free and easily pick it up upon landing by the plane. That means you can still bring 2 items on the plane, so I can check a suitcase and then bring on a backpack and a purse. The airport sure is quite dull, but after construction is complete, there will be more places to hang out and plug in devices and do some work while waiting. Convenience is the key here.

Manhattan Regional Airport can only be described as a landing strip with a vending machine. Served at the writing of this review by only American Eagle, using EmbaeAir(Brazilian) commuter jets from Chicago and Dallas, it is possible to fly directly into Manhattan. Mostly active duty military from nearby Ft Riley, their wives with a gaggle of small babies, and/or elderly who can’t/don’t want to drive from landing in Kansas City. Construction permeates the entire grounds of the property with standing water everywhere. No place to sit in any capacity, one vending machine, and two«desks» that serve as rental car offices. Ticketing is in a make shift double side trailer. Walking surfaces aren’t paved, they are covered with gravel. DUTYFIRST! HOORAH!

It’s small! It’s pretty hot inside too. There’s no WIFI or any place to grab a quick sandwich. I missed a turn on the way to the airport to get breakfast and it was the last turn before Junction City! Ya gotta have something other than vending machines at the airport! Other than that, it’s nice. People are pretty friendly considering there’s minimal there. So far, only 1 airline flies. I do believe I saw a sign for Allegiant to come in Nov. 7.

This is a good regional airport. It offers only flights from American Airlines to Dallas and Chicago for this little stretch of Iowa. Free Wifi, and friendly security staff make it an easy place to stay. Not much in terms of food or other options so I would grab food in town.

Not the biggest airport I have ever fly into, but not the smallest. American Airlines is making a mint flying people to either Fort Riley or Kansas State. ¾ of all of the people on my flights are soldiers. Until I started coming to Manhattan, I did not know that K-State has 21K+ students and is older than my alma mater — The Ohio State University. Right now AA only has 3 flights per day to Dallas, but they are adding Chicago soon. I do not think there is room for more than one more airline counter. They only have Enterprise and Hertz rental cars. The parking is nice though — right across from the terminal.
