1. The wait was 50% longer than they estimated — 45 minutes instead of 30 2. They got wax in my hair while waxing my eyebrows twice 3. 5 of my nails chipped within 24 hours of the manicure Not going back. Not worth it

Had a break at work and felt like treating myself. So decided to check this place out. It’s so hard to find a nail salon that listens and delivers to what you ask with out fussing. Nina was amazing. Super sweet and did exactly what I ask. She certainly has experience and painted my nails with so much precision. Every corner and end of the nail was covered and touched up. Also Nina was great with the hand massage. I actually felt like I was getting my finger muscled worked through as opposed to the regular pat down. So happy to have found this place.

Terrible experience I walked in for a bikini wax. The salon was clean but empty. The technician brought me into a nice room but once she put the wax on my skin I knew something was wrong. It was warm but sticky, probably very old. She retried to remove the hair but it got sticky and very very painful. I asked her to stop and questioned her about the quality of the wax but she did not speak a word of English !!! I asked her to call someone so she can translate . I got very upset because she did not remove all the hair, started cleaning w oil while the area is very red and painful. Through a translator she explained she will remove the rest of the hair with tweezers !!! No way. I walked out without paying a dime and told them not only to use better wax but more importantly to have their employees speak and understand English !! I won’t come back

I received a gift card for here so I dropped by. I had a 60 min massage and pedicure. The massage was very nice and relaxing. Grace, my masseuse made sure the pressure was just right for me. My pedicure was terrific and my feet are happy! The place is clean and everyone is really nice and professional. I am definitely going back to see Grace!

I had such high hopes for this salon – the neighborhood(low/mid 60s, West End) really needed a non-outrageously expensive nail place – and it has such a nice atmosphere. But after three separate, negative experiences at Mayflower for manis and/or pedis, I decided I can’t go there anymore and should warn others against it too. Basically, the staff is just rude and rushes you for no good reason(e.g. even when no one is waiting). I wanted to ask the my latest, extremely rude technician on Sunday for her name for the purpose of this review/to warn people and in case management eventually reads these reviews, but I didn’t want her to get the wrong impression and think I liked her! It’s also too expensive compared to the salons on 72nd Street and other parts of NYC, especially for mediocre service. They charged $ 5 just to remove my gel mani before getting a $ 13 mani. I gave it two stars vs. one star because it really is a nice, clean atmosphere.

I’ve been going here since they opened across the street from my apartment. I’ve had overall good experiences here except for my most recent visit. The guy I had rushed and was VERY rough on me – everything hurt! He pushed down very hard while cutting my cuticles and filing my nails so it was actually a pretty painful manicure and pedicure. I asked him to ease up a few times but somehow I felt like he thought I was being sensitive. I’ve never had issues before. Usually I like the technicians – I will be avoiding this guy in the future but will definitely go here again.

Two pedicures and both with similar experiences. The water was luke warm, the massage chair didnt work, and it chipped in a less than a week. On one visit I added a 10 minute massage and it was seriously so painful. I like a strong massage but this was all wrong. Not enjoyable at all. When they asked for a cash tip I said I’d have to come back later with cash so they accepted the tip on the credit card. I want to love this place because it looks very clean and it is really close to my apt but dont think I’ll give them a third chance.

This place is pretty impressive. My wife and I went there a few days ago when we visited NY. It is clean and quiet. Chairs are comfortable, people are friendly. My wife had manicure, and I had 30 mins chair massage(so relaxing). We would definitely go back to this place when we visit NY again. If anyone else want to get a manicure, I would recommend Nina. She is the one who worked on my wife.

I only gave a one to this place because there actually isn’t a way for me to give it less – believe me, I would. I entered the nail salon excited because I saw a «20% off –Mani/Pedi 36 dollars only» sign. Only being a teenager with babysitting funds, I was enticed by the sale and relatively cheap prices. The service was fine… nothing particularly bad or particularly good. Yet once I paid the 38 dollar price(because they failed to include in their advertisement that tax was NOT included), I tipped my lady 4 dollars. She refused to accept this tip because she claimed that they had a 20% only policy and thus i must tip 8 dollars because that was roughly 20% of 38. I have NEVER heard of a nail salon demanding an 8 dollar tip when they barely provided any service worth that. Furthermore, it is one thing if in their flyer or on their board they included a *20% gratuity type of notification, but they never did. Thus my 36 dollar discount mani/pedi ended up being an overpriced 42 dollars. The service definitely wasn’t worth it and I definitely won’t be returning any time soon.

I went to this place two weeks ago and I had a great experience a gel manicure was $ 36 and a pedicure was $ 28. I just went back today and they have a price chart up and everything is way more expensive. Gel is now $ 45 pedicure is $ 32 it is ridiculous. Plus they charged me $ 5 to take of the gel manicure and get a regular manicure. Won’t be returning it is not at all worth is for the money plus they are all very rude.

I came in here with a friend who got a chair massage while I had a manicure/pedicure. No joke – I was finished with both the manicure and pedicure ASWELLAS drying the polish before his 30-min chair massage was done. Granted I had two women working on my nails at the same time, but still, my fingers and toes were completely painted after 20 minutes of his chair massage. And then, the guy giving him the massage could see I was done(but my friend couldn’t) and he still pushed him into an extra 10 minutes by frantically saying«She still has to dry! She still has to dry!» It was bizarre. I don’t know why they were rushing – the place was not crowded at all, and I was hoping for a relaxing experience. There was another woman getting a manicure at the same time – hers lasted all of about 12 minutes. Afterwards we both looked at each other and said that was the fastest manicure we had ever had. Efficient is good, but I still want to be able to enjoy what I’m paying for. Also, my cuticles have been aching all day and are a bit red/inflamed. In retrospect I don’t think their tools were properly sanitized. I will definitely not come back here. Especially after reading the other review about how they require cash tips for«tax purposes.» I get it, but come on. Don’t say that out loud.

I can not get over how poor my experience was at this nail salon that just opened. All I wanted was to relax and have a regular pedicure. There is no price list or service menu available. I inquired about prices and the woman seemed annoyed by that. I got my eyebrows waxed and the paper used on the bed had some sort of oil stain on it. She didn’t extend the roll so I had a new place to lay. Even if the stain was at the foot area, I don’t need to lay on the oil. Furthermore, I understand that they prefer cash for tips, but you cannot demand it from your customers. I was appalled when the woman said it was for tax reasons. When they finally let me use my card, the other employee had the nerve to start talking about me with the other customer in the store. At least, do that when I leave. I understand some businesses want to be cash only. If that is the case, put up a sign and inform people before they experience services. I will never return here.
