Natural Hair Salon in Harlem

I have to start by saying Jane B. is AMAZING! When I initially called for an appointment, Jane was able to fit me in the very next day! I had been wearing twist extensions for years and was ready for a change. My hair was damaged from the years of twists so her work was cut out for her. She deep conditioned my hair and cut it into a healthy style. I returned a couple of weeks later and Jane began my Loc extension journey. Now they are in and they are BEAUTIFUL! The Loc extensions are permanent and I couldn’t be happier. Best of all, I don’t ever have to take my hair down again!
I haven’t stopped getting compliments and my response always is, «Thank you so much… my stylist’s name is Jane and she is Amazing! Go see her!!» I am literally a walking billboard and advertisement for her work! She did an awesome job, I am so pleased and my Locs are DOPE! Thanks Jane! Go check her out, it will be the best decision you have ever made!

Went to Natural Sisters Salon for the first time today and thankfully it was not s mistake! Tia did my hair (silk press and trim). She is GIFTED! I’ve been doing my natural hair at home for the past few years, but no more. After my wash and treatment, I was amazed when the brush slid through my hair like butter. The end result is gorgeous and I will be back!

I have been natural for a little over two years and I have never been to a hair salon. Only because I believe that I can do everything by myself, twist outs, bantu knots etc. However, after two years I grew tired of the same old hairstyles and wanted something new, I decided to color my hair. I soon found out about henna I tried it out, but after the fifth application I realized that henna did not show up in my hair! Well, if I couldn’t color my hair, I was going to cut it, so I did a google search for possible styles and came across the tapered cut. I fell in love and soon set out for a natural hair salon in NYC because sister could not do a tapered cut… Im not that crazy! I soon found The Natural Hair Salon in Harlem and called to make an appointment the next day and was all set!
I came into the appointment sweating and thirty minutes late with alot of anxiety! But Jane quickly put me at ease with her bubbly personality and genuine love for hair! I showed her some pictures of the tapered cut I wanted (most pictures of this style would be of women with looser curl patterns) with the expectation that my hair would not turn out the way theirs had because my curl pattern is little tighter. However, my haircut turned out better than I could have imagined, and now I feel that mine is comparable to those women as well!
Over all, my first experience in a salon post-​relaxer days, was phenomenal! That atmosphere was very homey, the stylists were friendly and Jane is very personable and obviously knows hair styles and most importantly hair TEXTURES (4a/​b/​c, the whole alphabet!) I would defintely come back for a trim!

I came here a few weeks ago for a trim. I had heard about the salon randomly so I decided to give them a call to ask for the price of a trim. I was quoted at $ 45 which sounded like an amazing price so I booked an appointment for the next weekend. When I got to the salon, I had to wait for about 30 min to start my appointment. Once the appointment started though she sat me down and asked what I wanted done. I said I wanted a trim. Then she felt my hair and all the products in it and asked if I wanted it washed as well. I was expecting that a wash was included but apparently it wasn’t. For a wash, blow dry, and trim it is $ 95 not $ 45. An extra $ 50 seems a little steep just to wash and dry my hair especially when straightening it is not included. I was sick of my split dead ends and wanted them off so I went for it anyway. She cut a piece off the back and showed me how much it was. It seemed like a lot of hair but I trusted her judgement in getting rid of my dead ends. Fast forward to the end of the appointment. I left with a smaller puff and lots of hair lost. She definitely went scissor happy on my hair. I know my ends were bad but she cut off way more than was necessary to clean up my ends. The only reason why I am giving two stars is because of her personality. I enjoyed my experience there in talking with her and her other clients. She is funny and is a good conversationalist however I wont be back.

Jane has a very sweet personality and kind spirit, the experience was fine but I did not get the desired effect. I went in for a hair cut… not a trim, but a styled hair cut. It did not come out the way I wanted it I wanted my natural hair short on sides and back, she cut off all my relaxed ends which was fine, but I feel like she was worried about retaining length and the outcome is lengthier than I wanted it to be on back and sides. The reason I did not notice this was because of the shrinkage after a Wash N Go.

Amazing hair salon! The hair products made my hair feel so good and smelled great. The best part is that all of the products were truly all natural. The customer service was excellent. Whenever I come back to NY, I am coming here!

Jane B started my dreadlocks in late June and she did an amazing job! The salon is small, welcoming, and impeccably clean. There was another really cool stylist there who specializes in braids, cornrows, and twists, so if you’re a sister with natural hair, this spot has got you covered. Jane B gave me a free consultation regarding the different methods that we could go about starting my dreadlocks based on my hair’s texture. She knew her stuff! I wore dreadlocks for almost a decade many years ago, so I opted for the traditional method; coils that will eventually lead to palm rolling as my locks mature. My afro was pretty «tall» when I walked into the salon, so I walked out with the cutest, tightest, little coils that fall just beneath my ears. My hair is locking nicely because I visit her for maintenance on a regular basis.

Please. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT COME HERE. I walked in for a simple trim, just to get rid of my split ends and walked out unable to put my hair in a bun.
Not only did Jane B. cut my hair much shorter than I asked for but she also lopped it off in a misshapen manner.
Again, I advise you to check out a real hair salon. This one does not fall into that category.

I’ve been to the salon twice and Jane is phenomenal! Her favorite statement is «Trust Me!» I do and she’s never let me down! She is friendly, warm, witty, interesting and just an all around nice person. And I LOVE her «Photo Couch». I always feel like a model!

Just had my first lash and brow session with Jane B…(which definitely not be my last)!!! Jane is amazing… beautiful, friendly, professional… good vibes all around. Cute salon… definitely a diamond… you go Queens girl!!!

Jane B rocks! She always get the idea I’m going for and even when I let her be creative and spontaneous, my hair style always comes out better than I pictured: D My hair has never felt thicker or more healthy. I’m happy I found this Salon. Perfect for the TLC your hair craved: D
