Although I am an avid lover of quaint bookstores, «The Bookstore» is one of those that you can visit once in your life for 3 minutes and never feel like you have to go back again. I went into The Bookstore looking for one book that was a very popular current seller(The Girl On the Train) and they did not have it. I also noticed that there were other current bestsellers, yet they only had one copy of them. Clearly they have an issue with inventory. I also didn’t like the fact that they used short metal shelving as bookshelves. Books are intended to be on wooden shelving(or at least that’s what almost every other bookstore I have ever been to has used). Very unimpressed with the staff as well. I was not greeted when I walked in and when I asked a question about the book I had come in to look for, I was told by the girl«I don’t know, you should check the shelves over there,» and she tilted her head and rolled her eyes in a vague direction toward the back of the store. I much prefer the Windowsill for my book needs in Ludington. If you were debating on going there instead… DOIT!!!

With such a generic name as «The Bookstore,» I’m not very surprised that their inventory didn’t wow me. It was a limited selection of books that seemed to be a mix of some bestsellers and more popular books. I suppose in such a small town it doesn’t pay to carry everything. The problem was that nothing caught my eye. I’m not looking for the newest Dean Koontz, a Martha Stewart book on how to do everything exactly the opposite of how I do it now, nor a Romance Novel about a troubled Amish love. The only thing that I was interested in was the guy who I think was there to promote his book. The problem was that he sat there rigidly with his hands crossed and appeared to want to be anywhere but there. We all noticed it. It was uncomfortable.
