I really loved the ambiance of this place; a great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful weather or grab a drink to go before exploring the bookstore across the street. The wall to write on was really neat, too! Definitely fit the feeling of the place. The chai tea is really great(as is the dirty chai), and my friend loved her latte. The staff was also super friendly and helpful, open to chatting. I also loved the tables outside on the balcony.

The barista’s feedback was honest and open — the one who is expecting :). FYI: Don’t try the lavender scones. Her suggestions were spot-on. The rum raisin cake was delicious and the Perculator drip coffee was also delicious. We went back a second time before leaving town. The second day was a rainy day so perfect for staying in. They have whole bean coffee selections, pastries, ice cream, smoothies, lattes, books for reading, magazines, newspapers, and a perfect vibe for a coffee house. I can’t speak to the smoothies or lattes but I would definitely recommend the Coffeehouse if you’re in Manteo.

Bad coffee. There’s entirely too much focus on flavored drinks and permutations of smoothies, etc. Keep it simple. Make your coffee good and people will come.

Cute, quaint, and average. I had a specialty drink that was a little too sweet for my taste. BUT I’d return here without a doubt. The atmosphere was pretty adorable in the small town and the service was very friendly despite being pretty busy. I’d say go but keep your order simple! :)

People come here because there aren’t many options on Roanoke, not because this is a good coffee shop. Its all kind of «from a box-y» like a starbucks. None of the drip coffee is particularly good, the smoothie seemed like a premix despite it costing $ 5. The also charged me the full price of a cup of coffee for a refill which is quite ridiculous. The best coffee shops in the world don’t charge you the full cost of a cup of coffee for a refill, much less this place. Pretty clear they didn’t visit many actual good coffee spots before they opened. They just don’t seem to care about the craft of making good coffee, they just want you to be content enough with their basic drinks to not complain. I had a Tanzanian peaberry, and that seemed like it had potential had it been fresher. Their house coffee wasn’t great, probably because it was a french roast. Stop serving weird flavored charred coffees, serve more well roasted medium roast single origins.

This place is adorable! And they have delicious coffees, pastries, milkshakes, etc. It’s exactly the cute kind of place you want to go to on vacation.

We stopped here after a trip to the Aquarium. They have a ton of flavor combinations for hot and cold coffees and kitchy seating area that would make any grandma comfy. Coffee was good and it has a great view of the cute and quaint mainstreet.

My favorite place to eat breakfast is in a nice coffee shop with Wi-Fi so I can read the New York Times on my iPad. Over the past few years, I have tried The Coffehouse in Manteo. It looks so promising. There is a nice porch, shaded, with tables and the nice interior space that feels like someone’s living room. It’s a nice space in a picturesque small town with a view. There are a few things I insist on, however. Good coffee, pastries and cleanliness. Unfortunately, on my recent visit those were missing. My mug if decaf was unremarkable and my wife complained that her regular brew tasted like water. My mug had coffee grounds in the bottom so I asked the barista to replace it with a clean one. The one she handed me also appeared dirty, but I suspect it was hygienically clean but not washed well. My cinnamon roll looked and tasted like it had been sitting in the case for days. My wife also complained that her pecan muffin was stale. I’ve had better experiences here in the past and hope this was an anomaly, but I’m not sure I’ll be back soon.

Great place to stop for a bit of caffeine and our internet fix for the day. Great atmosphere, yummy and interesting iced coffee drinks. Nice to have both outdoor and indoor seating options and it’s spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re a horrible person if you stay awhile and enjoy your coffee.. .

Went twice during my vacation on the island and had two totally different visits. First day the barista was very friendly. We both got iced lattes and waffles. Our drinks were great and the waffles were tasty. The second visit, our server was a bit surly and the Milky Way iced latte I got was nasty. Giving it three stars mainly based on the first visit. The second visit would be rated 1 star.

The nearby coffee shops that locally roast their coffee are tastier, but this is a nice place to stop by if you are downtown.

[Can’t believe I’m going to write a review comparing a local coffee place to Starbucks. Don’t be that Unilocaler, don’t be that Unilocaler] My fault. I asked for a green-tea-latte. I got a chai-latte. I didn’t even realize there was such a thing. My latte wasn’t green, it was pinkish red. It wasn’t bad(It was pretty damned expensive) but it wasn’t what I ordered. They do get bonus star for being opened on Xmas eve, unlike most of the rest of the OBX. Of course I/we didn’t feel like driving up to KittyHawk to see if it were open. Minus a star for us being lazy.

The coffee was good, but I made the amateur mistake of adding a flavor shot, just because I’d been talking with the barista about the different jazzed up coffee specials that were on the board and I got a hankering for something besides black coffee, but not quite as sweet as a straight up blended frozen turtle-in-the-mud somethingorother drink. Anyway, the coffee seems like it would be quite good – sans shot – and if they had been open when I went by on Sunday I would have rectified my mistake. Regardless, it was a nice little coffeeshop on the island with fun décor and mug collections on display(and for sale) around the shop. I’d definitely go back if I were in the area again.

It’s a little worse for the wear, but the Coffeehouse on Roanoke Island makes a great cup o’ joe. Although they have every kind of fru fru coffee drink under the sun, I stick to the basic iced coffee and lattes during the summer months. The coffee was deliciously brewed and the lattes perfectly creamy and refreshing. The interior is very rustic, with lots of North Carolina based paraphernalia lining the walls. They have tables and chairs as well as and old(I mean, really old) cushioned chairs on which you can sit and relax. There is also a front porch lined with tables where you can sit and read the paper while sipping your personalized brew. AND it’s pet friendly! There were a couple pups roaming around the café while we were there. I was a happy camper.

I paid over $ 5 for a latte that was HORRIBLE. The taste was unbearable and it had enough sugar in it to send an elephant to the hospital. The lady behind the counter seemed lazy and uninterested in pleasing customers. I had to ask for a rag and wipe my own table. The table next to me was covered with crumbs and a crumpled napkin and stayed that way during the two hours I visited. There were very few customers, so no excuse. If you are the owner: check up on your lazy, messy, dirty employees.

This place surprised me. They are rather large but you can go to different areas and get away from the crowd. Well, I was the only one there in the middle of the afternoon. Great coffee and friendly service. Free WiFi !. In fact they have a WiFi bar set up in the front of the building that has outlets you can plug your laptop into. A cat 5 cable to hook up a direct connection. I do need a re charge every now and then, it can’t hurt to have a little more power in my tech gear also. They do have a nice porch that you can sit on with rocking chairs. I enjoyed my stay here and i would come back next time I am in town.

I went to this coffee shop once during my trip to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The shop was recommended by a local shop keeper. The coffee and frozen coffee drinks are both quite good there. The environment is friendly and relaxed. It’s a great place to have a coffee and to get away from the sun for a couple of hours. The surrounding shops are also very interesting to explore around.

I gotta say, as a Quasi-Local(we are in Manteo multiple times a month) this coffee shop was a much welcomed addition to the Island when it opened. The coffee is good and locally roasted. The atmosphere is pleasant, and there are multiple areas to sit inside if you want some privacy. I have gone here for a number of years now as the house we stay in is nearby. The only reason I do not give this a higher rating is due to the fact that I was nearly attacked by both the patrons and staff for wearing a T-shirt that obviously did not align with their political views during the 2008 election. I certainly attempted to hold a civil conversation with the older gentleman(patron, name withheld) who apparently holds his court here daily, much to my chagrin.(I was told that«I didn’t know where my freedom comes from!») This statement was supported by the barista behind the counter. I am of the opinion, that if you are going to run a business, you cannot make open statements like this to your customers, unless you are willing to lose a customer base. It is because of this that I now patronize The Front Porch Coffee Shop on the main drag in Manteo. I feel they take better care of their machines, and their staff is well trained.(They actually can talk about different varietals of beans, and can even pour a Rosette on my Latte!) If the owner of The Coffee House would like to comment on this and the actions of their employee, I would consider revisiting the shop. Otherwise, Java-Buyer beware: Order, put your money on the counter, and try to dress politico-neutral. Enjoy your coffee!

This coffee house is probably my favorite thing about the wonderful town of Manteo. It has a plentiful array of coffees and similar beverages, also smoothies, ice cream, and some muffins and pastries, too. Back before Starbucks started making non-dairy alternatives, this place hooked me up with a milk-free blended cappuccino that was to die for and helped me forget my lactose intolerance. The décor is great, too. Near the entryway there are some comfortable seats and café tables, but in the back there is a sitting area around a coffee table/trunk that holds some games and a chess board. I had a great date with my husband there once when I had the grandparents watch the baby and it felt like an excellent use of our alone time. Also, even if you aren’t fond of the interior design you can grab something to go and walk the docks of the waterfront around the block(perhaps even stumble upon a swinging hammock chair). Very charming.
