Buyer Beware!!! If you really want efficiency out of your geothermal decision. I recommend going too a contractor that is knowledgeable with all aspects of the process. My wife and I unfortunately chose UMR Geothermal from Maple Plain, MN. and are now really paying the price. From our installation in 2010 to present, our WaterFurnace Synergy 3D has failed at every cold spell we get here in Minnesota, including this year. The System has a ten year warranty on the unit itself and it needs every day of it. We have been through all the parts on it twice and some major components would take weeks to receive. Here is the best part. When our system would breakdown, UMR Geothermal(The Installer) would not have time to get to us for days and sometimes weeks. They said too many service calls to attend too. They were very hard to reach in the first place and really good at avoiding contact with you. We have had to abandoned our in floor heating due to the amount of energy loss into the ground because UMR Geothermal is uneducated in the in floor heat process and did not know how to properly insulate the slabs. We hired them specifically for this task since we thought they were professionals. We were very mistaken. We actually had to install a fireplace to keep our home from freezing up. The long and the short of it. Provide poorly manufactured products. Not knowledgeable of products provided. Extremely poor service and reliability. Does not stand behind contract or workmanship. Has no problem with leaving you to freeze up
