Great food and friendly service. I love their jerk chicken! When I see #HereTakeMyMoney I think of the jerk chicken!

I had driven past this place several times and decided to try the food here because I was suddenly in the mood for a beef patty… The establishment is fairly small — one of the corner units in a shopping quarter. There isn’t much seating and the furniture and décor seems to be old but in decent condition. The two guys working were nice — they greeted me right away and took my order. In addition to getting 2 beef patties, I tried the curry goat with cabbage and rice & peas. Overall, the beef patties were hot but not spicy. I liked the goat and cabbage but the rice & peas were ok. In general, I’m not a huge fan of rice & peas so if I can stomach them then they are ok. Overall, everything that I had was good(the check-in offer didn’t hurt) and I hope to make it back and try a few other things on the menu.

I love this place! I am addicted to the oxtails and rice and peas. The employees are very nice and friendly. Always pleasant and ready to serve you. I highly recommend this place for oxtails. I haven’t really tried much else, but I wouldn’t doubt that their other food options are just as good! A++++

Great place. The food is delicious, the prices are decent, and the locations is easy to find. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that they are not too consistent with their portions. Sometimes I get a great amount of food, other times I feel cheated. It really just depends on the person that’s serving you. It is also not the best place to sit down and eat. it is much more of a «grab and go» place. But I am with out a doubt a fan of this place. The Curry Goat and the Ox Tails are my two favorites.

My 1st experience eating Jamaican food and I can say I’m pleased. I’ve had the oxtails and rice. They were fatty but good. The vegetables taste like they’re cooked with love. Family owned and operated. I can’t speak on the dine-in experience b/c I always do to go orders. Sweet staff. If you do a phone order, let the woman take your order lol!

This place is honestly a hit or miss. Out of all the times I’ve been there, the first was the best; you really just have to take a chance on whose cooking that day. I wish their food/seasonings was a bit more consistent because they’re literally right down the street from my house but whatever. I’m not saying its bad because its not ! …but I def don’t mind trying other spots to keep in my pocket.

Love, love this place! I compare every other Jamaican restaurant to this one! Best curry chicken patties I have ever tasted! They sell out of things quickly though so go early!

First of all, this place has no bathrooms. Why not? I don’t know. Maybe because this place was like a take-out place. When they give you their food, they give it to you in a takeout box. There’s only a few seats, so maybe it’s only for takeout. Heck, they don’t even have a trashcan. You have to throw away your garbage outside. I tried their oxtail, greens, jerk chicken, cabbage, and the meat patties. Let me get the good stuff out of the way. Their meat patties were delicious. The pastry was flakey and soft. It was made fresh. I liked the meat filling. It was a great meat patty. Their oxtail was okay. It had okay flavor. It tasted too sweet to me. They don’t give you enough oxtail though. Their oxtail entrée was mostly rice and peas. I wished they gave you more oxtail. Also, most of the oxtail was fat. So I basically had fat, greens, and rice and peas. Their jerk chicken was weak. It was too sweet and had no heat coming from it. The chicken was dried out too. The rice and peas were okay. Again, the it felt dry. Their greens and cabbages were too salty and sweet. I think their food just taste too sweet and salty. It’s not very good. I would only come here for the meat patties, avoid the other dishes.

This place has fallen off. They used to me my go to spot in Cobb for Jamaican food. I know the price of oxtails have gone up but for $ 14 – 15 bucks, I need the larger portion of the oxtail, not all the small ones with barely any meat. They aren’t even trimming some of the fat off the oxtails. I was eating mostly fat and bone. Where’s the meat? don’t even get me started on portion size. I don’t get the rice and beans because I don’t do carbs, so I expected extra veggies with my large order. If the serving size of my veggies and oxtails was a large, I can’t even imagine what a small is like. I guess they bank on giving you more rice and beans with a large order, vs. meat. My food was also very salty. No bueno. I’ll continue to go to Jamaica Me Crazy on Spring Rd. They are pricier but you get a good amount of oxtails and the cabbage is nicely steamed and flavorful.

The food here is ok… It was not really good, but not really bad!!! I guess I’m just on the fence about this restaurant.

By chance stopped by this place for lunch today. Lucky day I guess :). This is a hole in the wall kinda fast food place. Most folks visiting were getting food for take out. We tried fried plantain, beef patty and cheese, Jerk chicken, and tofu curry. All were good. Fried plantain and beef patty and cheese are appetizers. Recommend trying it. Jerk chicken is with rice and peas. Spicy but good. Tofu curry is plenty of veg :). My wife enjoyed eating this as well. All in all, we will definitely be back to try more.

VERY disappointed! This place is overpriced, and the food is mediocre. The only thing they have that tastes good are the beef patties, and you can get some that tastes the same from Dollar Tree, literally. The girl at the counter has a bad attitude as well. I should’ve just walked out, but I expected that if the dish costs $ 10 for a small size, then it would be good, right? Wrong. My oxtails were mostly fat, and they gave me a tiny bit of cabbage. Don’t eat here, please save your money…

No suh! A wha dis? Now coming from NY and surrounded by a bunch of Jamaicans, I felt like this was a Yankee(American) chef inna DI kitchen trying to pass this off. My favorite Jamaican dinner is Brown Stew Chicken. When I arrived, I was excited and felt like I was back in NY with all of the reggae posters and rusted painted walls. I just knew I was going to be satisfied. Mi know mi cudda nyam some ackee & saltfish. But, it wasn’t Saturday. I ordered to go. The rice and peas: it wasn’t good at all. Looked more like Spanish rice and wasn’t yummy. The brown Stew: Where did the bell peppers come from? Where was the Scotch Bonnet? But, the dumplings were a perfect touch. This is not authentic Jamaican food or maybe the chef called in sick that day. OH yeah, I forgot to mention. I’m Jamaican!!! Ah suh it guh!

I’ve been back quite a few times. Jamaican Jerk still has very flavorful jerk chicken, rice and macaroni. They’ve cut back the portion sizes though, it seems. There’s always a small crowd when I’m there. If I’m in the area and cravin’ for Jamaican, I’d still stop by.

Location is not bad if you’re a Snob Cobb Resi. Right on Franklin near Delk within a strip mall with wing spots, liquor store and hood club for cheap drinks. It has been good and somewhat consistent over the years. The oxtail, the curry goat is pretty good. Delicious wraps such as jerk chicken, curry, fish are quite a good bang for the buck. Portions come in small, medium and large. Prices are fairly reasonable. Isn’t the best Jamaican ever had but it will do for Atlanta and most certainly for May-Day Grade: C

Food is always nice and hot. My only complaint is during lunch time there never seems to be enough help. When the lady is there by herself she has to take your order, make your food, then ring up your order.

When we moved to Georgia we were so excited to have a Jamaican Restaurant so close to our home. Our first visit to the restaurant was very nice. We ordered our food to go and the gentleman that helped us was super friendly. We had our infant son with us and he struck up a conversation and even informed us that he was expecting a little boy soon. Back to the food, the portions were good and the food was tasty the FIRST time. The second time I believe I ordered the Jerk Chicken and it was a bit dry but not inedible. It definitely has some kick to it so if you can’t handle spicy this isn’t for you. We’ve since been back a few times and food has been okay. I’ve had better, and I’ve had worse.

I asked the nice young man behind the counter the question I always ask — so what’s your favorite? He said«I’m the owner» — haha, enough said :) Still, he said the most popular dishes were probably the oxtail, jerk chicken, and curry chicken. All entrees come in small, medium, and large sizes — and all entrees are served with rice & peas or white rice, and cabbage or greens. I got the small Jerk chicken, rice & peas, and cabbage for $ 6.85. So I was kinda surprised when I saw the chicken — the chicken skin was all burnt and rubbery looking, nothing like the Jerk chicken I’m used to where it looks more like shake-n-bake but with Jamaican Jerk spices. The skin was too disturbing-looking so I removed the skin and just ate the meat, so of course it wasn’t spicy at all. From reading the other reviews, I guess it’s authentic Jamaican Jerk so obviously what I had before must have been American Jerk :(However the meat itself was good, not dry at all. The«rice & peas» which is really«rice & beans»(says this American) tasted ok, and had a slight coconut flavor to it. I did enjoy the sauteed cabbage though. Based on the other reviews and owner’s recommendations, next time I’ll try the meat pies and the oxtail.

Jamaican food is a not-so-secret love of my life. Oxtail, curried goat, meat patties and, of course, jerk are all wondrous creations. I blame the combination of the UF mainstay cheap eats restaurant«Caribbean Spice»(beef patty, coco bread, carrot cake and a Coke for $ 2.25!) and the fact that one of the best Jamaican places I’ve ever been to is a mile from my parents’ house in the godforsaken Florida town of my youth. Their jerk pork(and my alleged inheritance) is the only reason for me to ever set foot in that city. As a result, I’ve grown quite fond of Jamaican cuisine. I discovered Jamaican Jerk when a co-worker of Mexican descent took me to a questionable taqueria nearby. «Hey, Michele, do we have to go to this place? I just saw a Jamaican restaurant.» «Shut up and enjoy your taco, Vato.» OK, she didn’t really say that, but since I know she reads Unilocal,I’m trying to get her all worked up I took the opportunity the other day to stop by Jamaican jerk. The menu looked promising, whole fish frying and oxtails stewing. Unfortunately I didn’t see any pork jerking. Why not? Pigs deserved to be jerked off too. Poor Wilbur. I went ahead and ordered the jerk chicken since«jerk» after all is in the name of the restaurant. After standing in the not-so-small line(good sign) and spotting the obligatory faded Air Jamaica poster on the wall(another good sign), I ordered the medium jerk plate. Along with a half a chicken, it came with rice and beans. I ordered the cabbage as well and a beef patty ala carte. I sidled to the bar area to eat. There aren’t too many options as far as eating in – some tables, a single outdoor two top, and the bar area to the side. The verdict? Sad to say that it wasn’t the best I’ve ever eaten. The chicken had a good bite, but also was a little sweeter than I liked my jerk to be.(I like my jerks mean and nasty and not-calling-me-back after we’ve made sweet, sweet love.) But at least the meat was moist. And maybe I’m used to most places overcooking their cabbage, because their cabbage still had some crunch and texture… which I didn’t like. It wasn’t horrible, but I prefer the cooked cabbage I’m used to. The high point was definitely their beef patty. The crust was flaky and the meat was spiced the way I like it. I’ll still probably return if only to order that fried tilapia that looked so good. Unfortunately though I still haven’t found a replacement for my hometown Jamaican restaurant which means, yeah Mom, I’ll be seeing you during the holidays. Lucky you.
