The food is very tasty, for which I give a 3, the customer service only a 2,. I was a little taken back when I heard the lady at the desk ask the customers to repeat their orders because she could not hear them. Now don’t get me wrong, this is understandable under certain circumstances. For example it would be understandable if the place was packed to capacity but not because the TV and radio is too loud! I was so excited to try this place based on reviews. They had a score of 91 from the health department which is a little scary but not enough to warrant my departure. But when I saw the hostess behind the food counter with exposed hair I must admit that I now had second thoughts. Really, the food is very tasty and although late in the day the food was fresh. If this place appeared cleaner, I would definitely give it a higher rating but like they say appearance is everything.

I really wanted comfort food and was in the area and decided to stop by to get food to go as I am running errands. Like the other reviews state, you aren’t coming for the atmosphere and you probably don’t want to dine in as they have three tables. I ordered the fried chicken wings, Mac and cheese, yams, and a sweet tea. I rarely get a sweet tea but I swore I read a review that said it was good; I’d like to argue. The tea was, however, the only disappointment. They poured it out of a pitcher and I thought, wow! It just didn’t taste freshly brewed and frankly was not worth the sugar/calories. Now onto the meal… OMG! Only words needed to describe it. The Mac and cheese was cheesy and flavorful, not dried out or boxed like you get at some southern places. The yams were swimming in syrup but I loved them, I don’t eat this type of food that often so it tasted like a BIG time treat. The chicken was so hot it almost burnt my fingers. They fry it to order. It was crispy but not too greasy, just delicious and well seasoned too! I will be back to try more!!!(As often as my waistline allows).

My wife and I stopped here after a snowy day at home. We wanted a warm southern cooked meal close to home. RC’s was just the place, filled with great service and food cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese was amazing as well as the crispy chicken wings. I’m glad there is a place that you can go for good food for the soul. We will be back soon.

Have seen this place on Unilocal and today I decided to give it a try. All I can say is that Unilocal was right on this one. Some of the best home cooking to come out of a restaurant I have ever had and that’s saying a lot for me. I was born and raised in the south and I do know good soul food. Took my dad to lunch and we both had the special cube stake and gravy. I had mac & cheese ant collard greens and dad had potato salad and baked beans. If I didn’t know better I would sware in was my grandmother cooking in the kitchen. If you have to go out of your way to get to this place it is worth the drive. As for me it’s just up the street and we will be back often.

This has great soul/comfort food. It is a classic meat &2 sides place. I got perhaps the best meatloaf I’ve had in years, plus awesome mac & cheese, and black-eyed peas. My wife and daughter had fried tilapia with assorted sides. This place is great. It isnt much to look at, just a shotgun storefront in a shopping center, but the spices are inspired. This was some of the best tasting food I’ve had. Another benefit… I’m a big guy and this filled me to the gills. Lots of food here. My wife and daughter took their leftover home.

I have to admit — I wasn’t as ‘bowled’ over by the food as I thought I’d be. But this is another one of those instances where the cashier /cook /manager was just so friendly that I bumped ‘em up a star. Chef Renardo was nowhere in site on the day I moseyed in — but the gentleman cooking clearly knew his way around the kitchen. He was prepping, cooking, taking phone orders and handling my order — along with 2 more walk-ins while I was there. I loved that the menu — though a bit limited — gave really detailed and appetizing descriptions of the food. I always love that — and I REALLY enjoyed my collard greens and cabbage. The cabbage had little specks of red pepper(I think) — and it was cooked to the perfect consistency. I found the mac n cheese tasty, with a what appeared to be a nice variety of cheeses, but on that particular today, it was a little too ‘wet.’ But my only real disappointment: my ‘first cut’ pork chops — were indeed first cuts — not center cut and they were gamey tasting. FYI — the breading /seasoning was super salty too — but I’m not even docking a star for that as I’ve, sadly, come to expect that when I hit up soul food spots. You get a LOT of food for extremely reasonable prices — and I think — had I ordered something else, they might have earned themselves a 4 or 5 star review. So overall — I even though I can’t recommend the pork chops — I definitely recommend the restaurant. Sidenote — they’re on Roswell Rd — located about 1.5 miles north of the Big Chicken — sort of off to the side in that pink plaza with the Thrifty Nickel headquarters.

I was a bit skeptical BECAUSE of the wonderful reviews but they are ALLCORRECT! This little place is wonderful. The food is seasoned, hot and delicious! My daughter and I got their at least 4 times a month. If you want great food than try out R C’s. But a little secret is do not wait too long towards closing because so many people get their and they may not have one of their wonderful specials.

1st off… let me just start off by letting ya’ll know that I was really upset that ya’ll greedy Unilocalers and non-Yelpers ate up all the ribs about 15 minutes before I arrived so I never got a chance to taste them! Ok… now that I’ve gotten that off of my chest… So I decided to drag my girlfriend here in a face off between this spot and Frank’s Cajun and Soul Kitchen. We had just landed in the A and from an 8am flight(preceded by my 6:20pm flight from DAL to LGA which landed at 11pm, getting home at midnight, packing and getting back up at 6am to catch the flight to ATL), and needless to say, we was HOOON-GRAY! Not hungry… HONGRAY!!! That’s when you might eat anything or anyone that passes in front of you. So anywho… due to my hongray-ness…I got greedy and indecisive. So I decided I wanted food from both spots(mind you, it took me about 1 – 2 hours to research the best soul food spots in the marietta area near our hotel the Hyatt Regency Suites, so we were even HONGRIER by now!). Fast forward, so we went to pick up the food from Frank’s first(see my review over duurrrr), and then proceeded to RC’s. First impression from outside is eh. Walk inside? The place is cozy with about 4 – 6 tables and a window where you can order your food and/or watch the person(drewling) fix your plates. So we look at the menu(I was really hoping for ribs) and ordered the Turkey Legs w/stuffing/dressing along with greens and mac n cheese. We also got the Meatloaf with Baked Beans and Yams. Oh and 2 sweet teas. The sweet teas were ok, but everything else was dee-lish-us. Turkey legs were seasoned well and tender, the meatloaf was meaty and flavorful. Greens were greens, mac n cheese was cheesy(3 cheeses!), Yams were tender and sweet, but the baked beans??? Oh man… all I gotta say is they twist it up and put something else in there so you gotta try ‘em. Look man… I said try ‘em…stop askin all those…“put what?”…“what does it taste like?”…“what do you mean twist it up?”…ain’t I just say try em’ for yourself? Geez. Oh and the Banana Pudding was yummz. So just to close this bit out… Frank’s gets a 5 star rating from Da Reg aka R.O.R.E.(Reggie On the Run Eating). Would I come again? Definitely. Would I recommend? I already have. Just one word of warning… I was supposed to go out later that night. I never made it. So be warned. It’s that darn good. Oh… and stay away from my ribs. Ya’ll greedy folks… always eatin up all the ribs like Craig on Friday. Darn it…

I found this place on Unilocal. At my first visit, I was given a small plate of samples and immediately fell in love. The food tastes just like my mom’s cooking, who doesn’t cook as much anymore. Instead she goes here, also, and so does my grandmother! This is the best home cooked food that you can purchase. It is flavorful, fresh, and affordable. A lot of the food is cooked to order. My mom stalks the peach cobbler. Its so worth it. My favorite are the fried wings, yams, burger, and more. Great customer service! I travel for work, try a lot of foods, and I’m a major foodie. This is excellent!

Just left with a full belly! I had the best fried carfish I have had in YEARS! Ask for their special sauce that goes with it. The mac and cheese is the thick cheesy type you could slice with a knife. The collards were very tender and spiced just right. The roast with potatoes, carrots, and gravy is as good as grandma’s on a Sunday afternoon. The drink selection is limited, but when you can get great sweet tea who cares. Best soul food in Marietta!

Have you been born again? I’m not talking about being baptized, I’m talking about, have you ever left church starving on a Sunday afternoon with a hankering for southern cuisine and then stumbled upon one of Atlanta’s best kept secrets having it change your life forever? I have! You’d never believe an unassuming, and kind of ugly spot, squished between some abandoned looking buildings, in perhaps a once popular strip mall could possibly live up to its hype… but if you believe that then you’d be WRONG! It’s more of a take-out spot considering that there are only four tiny tables inside which two seats each but you’re welcomed to eat there. After you order at the window, the owner brings you your food and you can pay him at the end. I took one look at the short menu of soul food staples and knew that I wanted to try RC’s famous fried chicken. I ordered what I thought would be a three piece since there was a(3) next to it, with Mac and cheese and candied yams. What I got was three WINGS instead of a traditional three piece which was a little disappointing at first but then I tasted the food. **excuse me while I praise dance** Okay I’m back. I ate in silence for the first few seconds because there were no words. The chicken was spectacular, crunchy and flavorful, the yams were sweet and tasty, but not too sweet, and the Mac and cheese… the MAC and CHHHEEESEEEE… Oh my God ! I said in one of my previous reviews that I could count on less than one hand how many times I’ve had good macaroni and cheese in the united states and one of those fingers is dedicated to my wife’s. But RC’s is the absolute BEST Mac and cheese I’ve had in the U. S…ever!!! It was so cheesy but it was the right kind of cheese and the right amount of salt and butter and flavor! Mmm. My wife also ordered the chicken and mac and cheese but paired hers with fried corn which I thought was just okay. She ordered kool-aid to drink … Yes, they serve Kool-aid…and she said it was the best koolaid she’s ever had. We didn’t try the desserts,(strawberry cheesecake and banana pudding), because we were stuffed but we’ll definitely be back. RC’s could rival any soul food in Atlanta and they do it all for less than $ 10 a plate. I’m not mad at that at all.

What’s the twist? If I had to guess I’d say it’s that you won’t find Big Mama or Madea in the kitchen. I associate good soul food with gray haired matriarchs so I was startled to see two young guys working away back there. I was also surprised that the food wasn’t served cafeteria style. A lot of soul food spots serve everything very casually from steam trays. They give you a glimpse of your choices before you order. Here the menu options were written on a white board near the service window. I ordered a vegetable plate to-go and it was perfection! Mac and Cheese — I get excited when I see two colors in this side dish. One signifies super cheesy-creamy elbows and the other, a baked cheddar topping. This mac and cheese was utensil licking good! Collard Greens — Easily some of the best collards I’ve tasted since I’ve lived in Atlanta. They were really tender and nicely seasoned with a pepper sauce kick. Yams — Melty potatoes soaking in sweet syrup. I make my yams a little different but these were still delicious. Cornbread — This was a firm, cracker-top brick of cornbread… designed with sopping in mind. More specifically, for dipping in collard pot likker without crumbling apart. Those MANdeas did their thing! RC’s Southern with a Twist is a frills-free zone with fantastic soul food!

In my 13 year quest to find authentic, southern cooking in Cobb County, I found RC’s today. Having grown up in Dahlonega eating Danny’s, Wagon Wheel and The Smith House, finding anything decent near my adult residence is nearly impossible.(People here think Folks is great… eww). RC’s is excellent. He hits it out of the park with his collards and mac & cheese. The fried chicken was very good. I would like a large breast portion vs. wing & leg, but the flavor was great. I added a little salt and my meal was perfect. To top it off, I had the banana pudding and it was amazing. While the place is a hole in the wall and looks older, it is clean. Not much seating so take out is best. I recommend this restaurant when one is near Marietta looking for Southern cooking.

Ya’ll, even in Atlanta, it can be hard to find some good soul food. Let me tell you that you will not be disappointed. if you go to RC’s. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted. The menu itself is pretty simple but has plenty of soul food staples like macaroni and cheese, yams, and fried chicken. There is also a rotating dessert selection. When I came, it was banana pudding. I decided to go with the fried chicken wing dinner with collard greens and mac n cheese. The dinner comes with three wings and costs $ 8.99. I added some banana pudding for $ 2.50. It took about 15 minutes to get my food, but it was worth the wait. The chicken smell was overpowering but amazing. It was cooked perfectly and extremely juicy. The collard greens were the perfect balance of savory and sweet. I have not had collards so good in the 10 years I have been in Atlanta(excluding my mom’s of course…). The mac and cheese was homestyle. None of that liquidy cheese sauce nonsense. Overall, great food and great prices. Go there, now.

RC’s Southern Cooking with a Twist… Where do I begin? The Misses and I went here two weeks ago and we are STILL talking about the food! I’m not sure if I have enough words to describe the food but I will try my best. First off, the customer service was excellent. As we entered, we were greeted AND right off bat, we were explained the daily specials by the cook, himself. The Misses ordered the fried pork chop, yams and steamed cabbage. I ordered the turkey meatloaf, mac & cheese with greens. Once we placed our orders, he gave us an approximate time table on when it would be done. We were like, COOL! Our food came out within 15 minutes or so. Everything was piping hot. That’s how I love my food. The portions were generous and I was ready to dig in. Let me say this guys and gals, the food was cooked to damn near perfection. My girl and I could not believe how her pork chop came out. That might have been the prettiest pork chop I ever saw! Lol! It was all golden and crispy. That thing was good! The steamed cabbage tasted excellent because it wasn’t heavily seasoned and the yams… man, they were off the hook. They were hand cut and sweetened with brown sugar, butter and vanilla… I think I also tasted cinnamon. I wanted to eat her food! Lol! On to my food… The turkey meatloaf was moist and tasted great. You can tell it was more about the turkey than the bread crumbs — which is always great in my book! The side of mac & cheese was probably in the top five I had so far in Atlanta, and I’ve been here for 6 years. The greens were REAL greens. Not canned greens. I hate canned veggies. I threw some hot sauce on them and the greens magically disappeared! Lol! Right before we left, we ordered a large banana pudding to go. We cracked that thing open as soon as we got in the car! Lol! We ate more than half of it during the ride back home! I don’t know how it was prepared or what ingredients it is comprised of but it was A-1! If you are near the Marietta area, check out RC’s. I RECOMMENDTRYINGEVERYTHING! Thanks.

I came here because of the high reviews this place has garnered on Unilocal.I liked the food, but didn’t see anything so out of the ordinary to give the place five stars. It seems to be a one man shop where you order at the counter and take out food. There are a few tables inside if you’re inclined to eat there(as I was). I had fried chicken with pinto beans and cole slaw. They have a menu posted on a board next to the counter where you order. There were about eight or so main dishes and you get two sides with each main dish. The fried chicken was three wings. This was explained to me in advance and I should have probably chosen something else since wings don’t have so much meat on them but I went ahead since I wanted fried chicken and hadn’t had it for a while. It came out fresh from the cooker very hot, and was moist and pretty good. The beans and cole slaw were also good, but I didn’t see anything special. I think this is just a very nice takeout place for southern style food with very reasonable prices(mine was $ 8.99).

This place is a hole in the wall… and I love it. If you’re looking for some soul food in the Marietta area, you gotta try this place. It’s tucked away in a old shopping plaza that has a Dollar General. Just look for a sign in the shopping plaza that says«Soul Food». It can only seat about 5 – 6 people comfortably, so it’s probably best to take it to go. If you grew up in the south, you’ll find all the typical favorites such as fried pork chops, catfish, neckbones, baked chicken, and of course fried chicken. You get a choice of two sides with each entrée and if you name it they probably have it. None of the plates cost more than $ 9 I ordered the Fried Pork Chop with mac & cheese and candied yams. Can never have too many carbs and I can never not order them when trying a place like this out. The pork chop was perfectly fried, moist meat, and a good size. The mac & cheese was incredibly good. My mom would kill me if she knew how much I enjoyed them. I can say the same about the candied yams. My girlfriend thought they were too sweet, but I didn’t. Tasted perfect. Girlfriend got the fried catfish w/green beans and yams. You get two pretty nice sizes of fish. I had a taste and the catfish was pretty good. Liked the pork chops, they were fried perfectly and had a good taste. The green beans have potatoes and some meat and were really good. For dessert, the owner told me that the peach cobbler is always on the menu, but he sometimes has cake and pie to chose from too. While I was there he just so happened to have my favorite type of pie. Sweet Potato! He let me taste it and it was amazing. If you get a chance to have that sweet potato pie, you won’t be disappointed. I literally licked the tin foil that it came in clean. The crust was so good. This food put my girlfriend straight to sleep. I struggled to stay away to watch the football game, but eventually succumbed to the itis. So don’t plan to eat this if you have things to do later. Of course i’m going to go back. Probably the day of this review.

If you are looking for delicious Southern and soul food in the Atlanta area, RC’s Southern Cooking with a Twist delivers. RC’s is located in an old Marietta strip mall called the East Marietta Trade Center. This shopping center has an Ace Hardware Store, an old-fashioned drug store, and the Cuban Diner restaurant. It’s on the same side of the road as Bank of America, opposite Williamson Bros BBQ and McDonald’s. RC’s opened(I believe) in 2012. This place is a hole in the wall. For a long time, the restaurant didn’t have a sign and was hard to find. They have a sign now and it says«SOULFOOD» in red letters, all caps. Storefront photo: The restaurant is quite small and very much a «mom and pop» type operation. The business is run by chef/owner RC(Renardo) and his family. They are friendly and nice. This isn’t a typical restaurant. It’s more of a take-out joint. Seating is extremely limited with two round tables for four and three to four stools at a makeshift counter against the wall. Interior photo: Eating here feels like eating inside RC’s home. There isn’t much to the place. The kitchen is open and fully visible through the large ordering window. The space is narrow and there is one cramped unisex restroom in the back. There’s an old tube TV at the front connected to an antenna. Business hours are very limited. At the time of writing this review, the restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday through Friday, it’s open from 12pm to 7pm. Saturday, 12pm to 6pm. Sunday, 1pm to 5pm. Store hours photo: The regular menu includes items such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, turkey, grilled chicken pasta, fried tilapia, chicken salad wraps, chili slaw dogs, and chicken fingers. You’ll want to check out the specials white board next to the ordering counter for the more traditional Southern staples like meatloaf, fried chicken, fried catfish, fried pork chop, and pot roast. Sides include three cheese mac and cheese, collard greens cooked with smoked turkey, potato salad, baked beans, steamed cabbage cooked with smoked turkey, and fries. Entrees are priced between $ 6 – 9 each and sides are priced at $ 2.50 for a small and $ 4.00 for a large. Many of the entrees include a side or two. The food is good and portion sizes are generous. RC cooks everything himself to order. Therefore, allow 10 – 15 minutes for your order to be made. If taking out, I’d call ahead so your order is ready for immediate pick-up upon arrival. So far, I’ve tried the meatloaf and fried catfish entrees along with the mac and cheese, collard greens, yams, baked beans, and chow-chow side items. Everything has been great. Unlike a place like Piccadilly Cafeteria, the food here is homemade and not mass produced. If you looked up «comfort food» in the dictionary, you could point to one of RC’s dishes as a prime example. Photo: The dishes are simple and satisfying. The meatloaf is soft, chunky, filling, and tasty. The catfish is served piping hot out the fryer, nicely coated and battered, not greasy, and very yummy. The side items are generally«standard» in terms of look and taste, but there’s nothing wrong with them. They are reliable and exactly what you’d expect. Cheesy mac and cheese, smoky collards, sweet yams, hearty baked beans, and sweet and sour chow-chow. Completely cleared plates seem to be a common occurrence here — a true sign the food is good. Condiments are available upon request. Unfortunately, they don’t stock any pepper vinegar sauce(e.g. Texas Pete Green Pepper Sauce: ), which I love to put on greens. I look forward to trying more dishes. The fried pork chop looks big and delectable. I plan on ordering take-out and bringing some of this tasty food back to the office.

«Got any fried chicken? Best damn chicken in the state.» — The Blues Brothers(1980) Who knew? You would never know this place was here unless you happened upon it, or maybe did a Unilocal search. Or like me, you were invited to a lunch here. Things to know: –The place is small — 2 tables that fit 4(maybe 5 if you don’t mind a tight fit), and a bar with stools that will fit maybe 4 people. –They do not open until 12pm. –They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. –The menu is completely affordable. –The food is worth making the time and effort to come here. We walked in right at noon and placed our orders. We were greeted by the owner and his daughter — both delightful and welcoming. We were told the specials(she the daughter wrote them on the board with prices that were surprisingly inexpensive). I opted for the fried chicken, mac and cheese and yams. After 5 minutes, I decided that my sides would go better with the fried pork chop — so I asked to change my order and was told«no problem!» After about 10 minutes, our food was brought out to us and we dug in. Everything was excellent! The pork chop was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and super flavorful — just like my Granny used to make me. The mac and cheese was super creamy, full of cheese with a nice level of salt and pepper. And the yams were the right level of doneness(not too mushy) with a sweet cinnamon finish. I also got the chance to try the collards — cooked with smoked turkey and just the right salt level — not overboard at all. They had the right texture — not overcooked — just right. I would definitely come back here again and again. I loved it and want to try more items on the menu for sure.
