This place is so delicious! We did a take out on our travels through Georgia. The best sweet potatoes I have ever had. Also, the sweetest ladies EVER who went out of the way to make us feel welcome. A home-cooked meal that I won’t forget.

The first time I went to the Manna House, I had Pork Chops, Rice, Cabbage, Mac and Cheese and Corn Bread. I was actually taking it to my husband on a Wednesday night before Wednesday nigh service at church. I tried some of the pork chop and it was tasty with gravy and the rice. I kept eating and my husband said, «I thought that you was bringing the food to me.» I stopped and decided to taste the cake. It was pound cake. I almost hurt myself trying to eat it, it was delicious. My husband didn’t get to taste the cake. Since that time, I’ve gone there several times and each time I experience excellent customer service and the food is great. I had some Key Lime Cake on the last occasion and it was scrumptious. I give this restaurant five stars. I will definitely go there again. I’ve found a place to go for great southern food. A. Hiram of Marietta, GA

I must say. This restaurant was a great find. The actual décor of the place is nothing fancy. But it makes up for it in great tasting food. I had fried chicken with macaroni and cheese and yams. The chicken was cooked perfectly I didn’t have to send it back and it was seasoned just right. The macaroni and cheese was very good also. Additionally I sampled the smothered pork chops. Delicious! The gravy was outstanding. The best part for me was the desert! The Carmel cake was to die for. I ordered a slice and had to order one to go!

Just discovered this little hidden gem. Delicious soul/southern food. Not too greasy and not too salty, just right. The portions were very generous for a great price, and the staff was very friendly.

Soul food! If you apprecieate good southern, homestyle soul food, this is a must. Everything is made in house, so menu is always changing. best oxtails I have ever had. Staff is super friendly and always a pleasue to talk with. I would have given this place 5 stars, but the location isnt the best. Its located in a real sketchy run down shopping center attached to a liquor store. There are always groups of people loritering in this parking lot, but I have never been bothered when I visited.

Terribly long wait for a breakfast sandwich. Friendly staff though and just a bit on the pricey side for a BEC sandwich. Other than that I’d try them out again just to see if it was an off day.

Can you say Soooouuuul Food??? Ive passed this place a million times or more. The name caught my eye a while back when I first moved near the area, it reminds me of one of my favorite Bible stories, but I never had time to stop in… Well, I made time today and glad I did. The atmosphere wasn’t very pleasant at first, the three people that were working seemed very agitated with one another, making smart remarks and mumbling under their breath, but all three people were very nice to me. Lol. Seating is very limited, the look is what one would consider a «hole in the wall» type of place. I ordered the two piece tilapia fish dinner with collard greens and macaroni and cheese, it also came with corn bread and a can of soda(I was given a cup of ice, don’t drink from cans). I took my food to go. The fish was fried perfectly, the collard greens and macaroni and cheese were just right… I actually thought about calling my momma to make sure she wasn’t in the back cooking at Manna House.-lol The corn bread really did it for me, because I am the Jiffy mix queen… I have never had sweet cornbread made from scratch(my mommy don’t make it sweet) Delish I almost purchased a dessert, but after hearing another customer decline and complain that her dessert was a little to sweet the last time. (which is a good complaint in my book, so I definitely will the next time) I decided against it this time. That did not stop me from snapping a picture. :) :) :) Location: Fairground road next to a Bottle or Package store, just before you reach Roswell Rd.

Laaaawd! I literally just got done scarfin’ down my food… & part of me is sad! It was DE-licious! My coworkers told me about this spot & I decided to treat myself since it was around the way. I called to place my order & was a bit disappointed because they weren’t serving the baked chicken, but I opted for the fried tilapia, mac n cheese, candied yams, wheat bread, & of course sweet tea. It was kinda slow when I arrived, but my order was ready and I can confirm that the lady at the counter(Davone, I’m assuming) is sweet/down to earth. :) There was a cook and an older woman peaking through the back & I’m convinced she was back there THROWIN down! All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this spot & I will be back!

I saw Alton Brown tweet about this spot and knew I had to check it out. I went with my grandmother at about 2 in the afternoon. The lady at the counter, her name was Davone, was SO incredibly sweet and helpful. She promptly took our order and gave us some recommendations. The patrons were also friendly. It made me feel really in touch with my Southern roots, everyone spoke to each other and made small talk the whole meal. I ordered the smothered pork chops with collards and mac and cheese. The pork chops were incredible, I believe they also offer them fried. They were smothered in gravy and perfectly seasoned. The collards had a touch of sweetness to them, which was a first for me but I loved it. My grandmother ordered the baked chicken, candied yams, and collards. I’m not typically a fan of candied yams, but these were awesome. They had a bit of a vanilla taste to me. Of course we both ordered sweet tea, which was on point. I cannot wait to go back and take many friends with me.

I had tried this place once before while in the area & forgot to do a review. My memories were not as crisp of the place, so I decided to go there for breakfast after handling some business at Marietta Square. I pulled up in the lot around 8:30AM. I was concerned that it was not open, there was only one other car in the lot. But, I went in anyway. There were 2 others sitting at the counter, one worker behind the counter. I reviewed the breakfast menu of the day and placed my order for catfish, scrambled eggs, tater tots(grits were an option) and wheat toast. The menu said that this was $ 6. She offered me a drink, but thought that I was weird for expecting sweet tea in the morning, she is not making any until 11AM. They only have 3 selections of drink on their machine — coke, sprite and diet coke.(Sams is around the corner, guys, replenish that) I settled for water. My food came out pretty quickly. I prefer my tater tots to be more solid than they were. When you bite into them, I prefer that they remain solid, not crumble. The catfish was nice and hot, but I prefer it to be crispier. I pulled out my card to pay the bill, it was only $ 5! I guess the drink is included in the $ 6 price? Each time I go by, they have a sign up saying that they are having some seafood all-you-can-eat deal for $ 20(including crab legs) on next Friday. Who is selling crab legs that cheap, I wonder? Oh, well. They have quite a few folks who are ‘regulars’, very friendly and chatty I might add, so if that is your bag, this is your place. All in all, if you are in the area, have a few dollars and want a good, hot, not fast food meal — this is your place…

A nice lil Hole in the Wall spot! Had the Fried Chicken Steak, Potato Salad and Mac N Cheese! Quite delicious! The staff was very friendly as well. I’d come back if I was in the area. It’s pretty much somewhat of a «Busy Bee Café» in Marietta! :-)

I tried the country fried steak, fried okra and rice. The food was pretty good but I really want this place to thrive so I’m going to reserve final judgement until I’ve been back one or two more times. There aren’t alot of good«Soul Food» spots in Marietta and I’m hoping Manna House can fill that gap.

Man oh Manna — somebody hand me bandana! Cuz I ate so much I’m sweating!(Make that glowing because women don’t sweat they glow. Yeah, right…) But I digress — before I slip into a food coma — let me tell you about this place. The first time I dined here it was because a client treated me to lunch(take-out) and I ended up with the exact same meal as her — fried tilapia, fries & white bread. She had raved about the food and I was excited to try it. I have to admit — I was more than a little let down — the cashier was sarcastic, grumpy, short-tempered and mean(with me and some other patrons). The tilapia was a little rubbery and by the time I got to my destination — the heat from my food had caused condensation that made all my food a soggy wet mess — so I wound up tossing it and cooking dinner at home. A few days later — I got to thinking and I realized that growing up ‘on the water’ had made me a little hard to please when it comes to my standards of what Atlanta’s restaurateurs call«fresh fish.» So. .. for that reason. .. I decided to stop ordering fish when I go out. And I decided to give this place another try. And I’m so glad I did. This time I ordered the pork chops, black eyed peas, mac & cheese, with cornbread & sweet tea. I know a lot of folks don’t eat pork any more — but for my swine-eating brethren — these chops alone were worth the 30 minute drive out of my way AND the extra hours on the treadmill to burn off. They were thicky, juicy, seasoned perfectly. .. I actually bit my lip twice greedily devouring the first one.(Don’t judge me — we’ve all done that before. .. right?). The mac & cheese was the kind you get at your Mom’s or Granny’s — made with milk, egg, & cheese then sprinkled with sharp cheddar and baked. Yum. The black eye peas were pretty good too. I wasn’t a big fan of the cornbread but that’s because it had the piquant sour taste that most buttermilk cornbread has. And before I forget — this time there was no sign of Angry Cashier — I actually talked to both the owner(who was working the register that day) and the cook. They were both pleasant and friendly and they answered all my questions about food preparation and desserts. So that’s the good. You know I believe in always giving a fair & balanced review so here’s the bad: 1) No unsweetened tea and no garden green salads on the menu!!! You’ve heard my spiel before — in this day and age of diabetes and high blood pressure — I don’t care if you’re a soul food joint or a barbecue shack — you gotta have some sugar free, low fat alternatives for your customers. 2) The location — the interior is okay — clean, but kinda dark and pretty bare bones right now — but I was told they only recently acquired the place(and this might account for some of the previous poor reviews) so they will probably spruce the place up soon. The restaurant itself is on a sharp curve in a little strip mall next to a liquor store so some folks might feel a little uncomfortable in the parking lot with the liquor store’s sketchy clientele — especially late afternoon.(Not me — cuz I love liquor stores — lol) So please take note — and this is a first for me — even with the ‘bad’ I’m still giving this place five stars — the food is actually that good! Alright — that’s it — I’m going to sleep.

We visited this restaurant with a Half Price Depot coupon. We are from Sandy Springs and drove over after church for Sunday lunch. As soon as we sat down, the server told us she would not accept any coupons today. We pointed out that the Half Price Depot coupon does not list the Sunday restrictions. We questioned it but she said the owner’s decision was final. We have young children and were hungry so we stayed. The food was decent soul food(similar to the old Quinnie’s or Oga’s), but we noticed the 86 rating on the wall. And as another Unilocal reviewer noted, there is a curtain covering the kitchen service window. The liquor store next door is shady and makes the location less appealing. But bottom line… No concession was offered to us for our drive time and confusion over the coupon. We will get a refund from HPD and do not recommend this place.

Preface: I bought a Groupon to this place. That’s the ONLY reason I stopped by here. First of all, the first time I came here(during business hours in June), the place was CLOSED. I called the phone number listed for them on the Groupon and got a message about the number not accepting any phone calls. Sooo, today I decide to take my wonderful and super pregnant godsister here for lunch. I kinda forgot where it was, but we found it again and went inside and took a seat. I present my Groupon to the waitress, who I assume already knew what was about to happen. She goes and talks to the«owner» and comes back to tell me they are under new ownership and were not accepting the Groupon. The«owner», who was a very UN-well spoken guy, yells out across the restaurant, «I bought this place, and I dunno why Groupon won’t answer my calls! If I allow folks to use the Groupon, I won’t make no money! I mean, you can call them ya self, and ask them to call me… « When he said that, I almost threw my purse dead at his face full-force. What the fuck am I gonna call GROUPON for on your behalf? Are you brain-dead? You know what a REAL owner would have done? A REALOWNER of a so-called«newly-owned» restaurant would have said, «Ma’am, I apologize, but the previous owner never told me anything about this Groupon deal. I can offer you half the price of it and a drink» OR «I can offer you drinks and a snack» for even patronizing the damn place! Do you want return visitors or not? I’m gonna go ahead and guess you could care less about that. Which would explain why no one was there but him and his homies. Plus, I think there was no new ownership. I just think he did the Groupon deal, spent the money from that, and wanted more money on top of that instead of honoring what was already bought. Final grade: F–

I at here on a Friday afternoon after work and it was on point. They have a large chart up letting you the veggie selrction for the day. I have the dressing with gravy and it put me inn the mind of Thanksgiving… I could not turn down the fried fish. So I got the Talapia as a sandwich with lettuce and tomatoe and all I could say was MMMMMMM!!! The staff was cool as Cool Whip and this made the experience even more pleasurable.

This is one of those old throwback southern charm restaurants. Next to a janky liquor store near the heart Marietta, The Manna House is to serve southern soul food cuisine to win you over! Catfish — Amazing. So much that I had to bring it home. You can tell by the seasoning from afar that it was going to be good. Fried shrimp — On Point! Quench it with an Arnold Palmer and you are good to go. You always critique a soul food, southern cuisine spot by its mac & cheese. They passed. Not an A but it was still definitely good. The collard greens was an A and was hella good! Definitely order that if you are a CG fan like me! The server was very attentive, quick and funny. Would love them to incorporate shrimp and grits on their menu — that would make me a regular. Grade: A

Great food, I tried it our for the first time and I will definitely be back. The owner was very cool and so was Kinzy. Great food and more than enough for a couple of servings. I had the Collard greens, Yams, mac n cheese and catfish; unbelievable flavor
