We tried WRSH Tuesday night before attending a show at the Strand. We haven’t been there before and the other place we were going to go to had such a long wait we’d have missed the start of the show. Overall the food we had was decent. My burger was tasty, well seasoned and properly portioned. The fries served with it tasted good, but came out nearly cold. My wife enjoyed her fish tacos, good flavor and well portioned as well. I’m sure the fries would have been replaced had I asked, so no strikes on that count. So overall the food was good, but didn’t really stand out either positively or negatively. Service was good, no complaints there. While the food was okay, I doubt we will return. We go out for dinner to enjoy conversing with one another over a shared meal. Unfortunately the loudness of the restaurant(all the hard surfaces reflecting vs absorbing sound) made it difficult to converse without speaking very loudly. Then the presence of strangers seated so close to each side dissuaded any but the most superficial discussion. Together, these factors turned our meal into more of a utilitarian exercise of assuaging hunger than an enjoyable dining experience. I’d recommend adding some means of deadening reflected sounds to reduce the overall noise level. I’d also suggest considering a lower table density in the front so that the neighboring patrons aren’t sitting closer than your dining partner.

Food was good. Service not so much. I got the fried chicken and it was great, could’ve used a hot sauce. My wife got the shrimp and grits and it was really good. My son got the popcorn shrimp and it was excellent. The beer on tap was great too. We had a server who appeared to have been too busy, and apparently it was too much for him. He got our order wrong, and didnt refill drinks or ask if we needed more beer. Didn’t bring waters. The hostess was lost. We showed up 15 minutes early for our reservation and were told they were full and Wed have to wait, even though there were 4 tables open, and were sent away only to be called five minutes later and magically something had opened up. The food was good enough to get us back but the service needs some real work, and the booth they put us in wobbled and felt like it was going to break any second.

This is my new favorite restaurant! The waiter was polite and helpful. Sweet tea was great and the grilled fish tacos were amazing!

Great little place, quality menu, creative and thoughtful service, and a cool, welcoming vibe. $ 2 tacos on Tuesdays were a bonus! I’ll be back!

Two words: Oysters & Omegang! Finally…mullusks & micro brews! Square has been a culinary disaster for years — most likely a few families own the whole square and the rent is probably cost prohibitive for culinary entrepreneurs.

Delicious farm to table craft food and cocktails. Lots of homemade everything. Like eating at someone’s home with no pretension and just good food. Try the homemade shrub infused cocktails.

We just had a great experience because of the server Johnny. We’ve decided we wouldn’t really eat here again unless Johnny can be our server because he was on top of every little detail.(And the service has been our main complaint in the past.) The food has always been decent, but they just rolled out a new menu and the options are much better with more healthy ingredients. The carbonara was extremely good(fresh-made pasta!), and the social house punch is a great deal for the cocktail. Highly recommend giving it a try, but ask for Johnny!

Another cool/hip changeover in the Marietta Square. Never went when it was Willie Rays — but this place seems right up my alley. … unfortunately my lunch was cut short when my buddy didn’t show up, so all I had time to try was the Boiled Peanut Hummus. That was delicious, but very different. Kudos for having something so unique on the menu — just know it’s probably not what you’re expecting completely. If you’re adventurous you should definitely try it! Gonna update this one after the next visit…

I am a long time fan of this restaurant but a word of warning… Wednesday is trivia night and it is loud, very loud. Choose any other night or sit way in the back. The food as always was very enjoyable, especially the fish tacos.

we came to this place after leaving a 1-hour wait at thaicoon. we made the right decision! the food is yummy! it’s a casual restaurant with an eclectic menu. we had boiled peanut hummus(!), oysters, a burger, hot chicken sammy, and fish n chips. everyone was satisfied and happy. i ordered a special drink new to the menu called ‘the dirty south’. the name is deceiving because the drink is clean and refreshing! we will be back.(oh, and beignets for dessert :-)

YOUHADMEAT «FRESHGROUNDDAILY»! I stopped in for a quick bite one Saturday afternoon and can’t wait to have the chance to go back. I had the Classic Burger which came with a mountain of hand-cut fries. They cook their burgers no less than medium-well, by rule, since hey use all natural, daily ground beef. I conceded even though I’m a medium-rare guy, and hoped for the best(I was hungry and pressed for time). When I bit into that burger, I was nothing but extremely pleased. He fries were seasoned in such a way that they needed not be dipped in anything. THEWAITER: Johnny was very attentive and pleasing. I would ask for him the next time I go back. THEPRICE: $ 10 for all that food was completely and utterly unbelievable. FLIPBURGERCANNOTHOLD A CANDLETOTHISPLACE. There. I said it.

This is just how good that we found this restaurant… We stopped at this restaurant on the Marietta Food Tour, today. That’s right… we stopped here«today» and did a sampling of food. The option available was pimento cheese balls in a pepper honey sauce. And it was like heaven on a plate. I could have eaten a dozen of them and then been yelled at by my partner for eating all of them… But I could have and I would have. That being said… We had to come back and try it this evening. And we did. And it was amazing… We started with the goat cheese stuffed fried green tomatoes… And I could have just gone into a food coma at that very moment. Delicious is an understatement. We also ordered the peanut hummus. That was the only thing that we found to be just«average.» I really did expect that it would be more flavorful. And we expected it to be far less salty. A nice touch was the side of celery and carrots that were dipping options with fresh baked bread chips. But it wasn’t. And that’s ok. We know for next time. For entrée, I ordered the Social House burger and a side salad. The burger was clearly ground in house and was of very high cut of meet. Being the owner(a husband wife team) own the Butcher and Baker(connected) that is really not surprising.(Spoiler alert… The husband is the butcher and the wife is the baker… And they are amazingly talented.) The burger, it was cooked medium and topped with caramelized onions. The burger is large… and it’s two patties. And though I have a really big mouth(no wise cracks) I had to cut it in half to eat it. The side salad was a mix of field greens. It was topped with a balsamic vinaigrette … Topped with french onions and blue cheese crumbles. A lot of blue cheese crumbles. It was a flavorful explosion. My partner ordered the fried chicken sandwich. And that is really a misnomer. It was not what you would expect as a «fried» sandwich. It was lightly coated and(what I expect was) pan fried as opposed to deep fryer. It almost did not appear«fried» at all. And that’s a good thing! He had a side of hand cut fries. Fries that were crispy and cooked to perfection.(And I don’t normally like fries!) There was no room for dessert … Zero … None… So what I’m saying is that you have to give this location a try. This is just one of the many fine restaurants on square… But it’s a worthy one and one that deserves your attention and your patronage.

Ate lunch here for the first time. New menu and décor looks great. The burger was amazing. They bake the buns in house and the meat is custom grind! Service was excellent. Definitely coming back.

Service was absolutely fantastic, pimento cheese fritters rocked my world. Be sure to ask for Hayley or Brittany, easily the best service I have had on the square in forever. Also, did not know, but they are open late now(2 a.m. I think?) and is a great place to meet up with friends!

Very Good. Since I ate there two or three weeks ago, I’m not sure if my waiter was Vincent or(I’m pretty sure his name was) Victor, either way, he was proficient with a cheerful attitude — especially since it was a busy Friday night ! I was very pleased with the fish tacos/vegetable dinner.

Never have I ever, not enjoyed their fish tacos. That is to say, they’re «famous» for a reason right? The cornmeal really makes them standout as compared to others. I love to load em up with the verde sauce, hot sauce and/or siracha, and if I’m feeling extra southern and frisky, I like to add some collards to em too! Seriously, they are delicious, I prefer them so much more over Tsunami’s fish tacos. I also love the Oyster Tasso Salad(you can order the fish tacos individually, so often times I like to have one taco with this salad as my entrée) The Fried Catfish is also good, but the grits leave a lot to be desired. Since my boyfriend is a vegetarian the only apps we have tried are the: Fried B&B Pickles(they were a little salty, but still done well) Pimento Cheese Fritters w/Hot Sauce & Honey(shut the front door good!) Fried Green Tomatoes w/Red pepper mayo & cotija cheese(One of the better fried green tomato apps I’ve ever tried, still not the best, but definitely worth trying!) The cocktails can be original and seemingly delicious, but they tend to run weak, so I generally bypass them altogether.

Ordered the house salad, fish tacos and a side of fries. 1st the salad was fresh and you can tell the tomatoes came from a farm not a store. In fact a member of the team walked by with baskets of vegetables, you could tell didn’t come from the grocery store. Refreshing! The rice and beans that came with the tacos, amazing. The tacos were light and fresh and balanced well with the amount of cabbage. We cleaned our plate! :) the service was attentive and speedy. It wasn’t the first time here, every time we have come has been consist, friendly, fresh, and tasty. Love this place. By the way the new remodel is open and clean looking.

Five-star family members taking us out for dinner, three-star restaurant, one-star for having to circle around the downtown area looking for parking. Thank you, Unilocalers, for giving me tips(ask for low or even no extra salt on anything) and suggestions as to which entrees were«safe.» If this place serves«Creole,» I sure as heck didn’t see it. No dirty rice, no étouffée, and the food wasn’t as refined as I’ve had at real Creole food restaurants. The gumbo’s ingredients were more of a Cajun seafood style, so I’ll go with this place being more a place to get your drink on and a side of Southern/Cajun/almost Tex-Mex kind of place.

Willie Rae’s is a restaurant at Marietta Square that serves American, Southern, Cajun/Creole, and Southwest cuisine. It’s been at the Square for over a dozen years and appears to be going strong as I came here for Friday lunch and the restaurant was packed. The atmosphere is casual and feels like a neighborhood pub, tavern, or even an oyster bar. The place is decked out in all sorts of colorful, folk art paintings. Like other restaurants on the Square, there’s seating outside next to the sidewalk. Notable menu items include pimento cheese fritters, «hot shot» oysters(grilled oysters), oyster and Louisiana tasso ham salad, gumbo, fish tacos, jambalaya, and fried catfish, grits, and collard greens. Expect to spend upwards of $ 10 for apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Entrees are pricier with most $ 14 and up. There is no lunch menu, but a limited number of entrees are available in a smaller, cheaper, «lunch portion» size. Ask your server for details. The menus are hard to read because the restaurant lighting is dim and the menu text is black printed on dark-colored paper. Also, the menus are inside laminate sleeves which are reflective and, given the lighting conditions, make the words that much harder to decipher. I ordered an oyster po’ boy($ 9). Fried shimp po’ boys are available too. Po’ boys are what some in Louisiana call sub sandwiches. The po’ boy came on Willie Rae’s house hoagie with leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, pickles, and a remoulade sauce. One of my lunchmates ordered one of the daily specials — a meatball sub($ 8), which came on the same type of bread with a pesto-garlic spread, lettuce, and pickles. The sandwiches came with a side of chips. It took a long time for our orders to come out, maybe 20 – 25 minutes. I understand the restaurant was busy, but even busy restaurants can pump out orders fast. When the food finally hit the table, we were disappointed. The oyster po’ boy didn’t taste good. While the lettuce, tomato, and pickles were fresh, the main ingredients of the sandwich(oysters and bread) were fail. The fried oysters didn’t have any flavor to them. I tried them both by themselves and together with the sandwich and they just weren’t appetizing. The bread seemed to break apart rather easily, so it didn’t hold the sandwich together well. If it wasn’t for the remoulade, the oyster po’ boy would’ve been very bland. Here’s a picture of the meatball sub: . The meatballs were small, pink, smooth, and appeared undercooked. Normally, one would expect meatballs to be big, brown, and coarsely textured. I sampled some of the sandwich and the meatballs did seem to be somewhat cooked, but fully? I don’t know. Both the meatballs and pesto sauce seemed overly salty. Like the oyster po’ boy, the meatball sub was unfortunately a dud. The chips seemed homemade and I liked them. Each chip was consistently crisp and none were excessively greasy. While both the food and waiting time for the food were underwhelming, our server, Jenny, was awesome. She was nice, polite, and attentive. Many street parking spots at Marietta Square are free, but can be hard to come by during peak times. One good place to park is the free lot at the corner of North Marietta Parkway and Mill St. This is about two small blocks west of Willie Rae’s, across the railroad tracks.

Willie Raes looks like a busy, popular place in Marietta Square. They have a fun atmosphere and looks like a cool place. They have a diversified lunch menu. They have Italian food, cajun food, Tex-Mex food, and good old American food. I guess you can say this place is your typical, catch-all, American restaurant. I tried their oyster po boy. It tasted pretty bad. I didn’t like the bread they used. It had a strong, sour taste. I don’t know if they used sourdough or what, but they should’ve just used a plain baguette. Also, the bread started to fall apart. Maybe the bread was old. The oysters didn’t taste fresh. It was breaded okay. I didn’t like it though. Overall, I thought the po-boy sucked. It had bad bread and fillings. The chips they gave me was too salty as well. I just didn’t like my meal at all. I had a taste of their meatball and pesto sandwich. That was a weird sandwich. The meatballs didn’t look like meatballs. They looked like corn puffs. Also, I don’t think the pork meatballs were cooked all the way through. But it was hard to tell since the place was too dark to see. It looked like some failed experiment. Actually, after looking at Daniel B’s picture, those meatballs do look raw. I was suspicious of it when I ate a piece. And now that I think about it and saw the picture, I think they were. We just couldn’t tell in the restaurant because it was so dark inside. They were also pork. I can’t believe these guys just served us raw pork meatballs. Our waitress was super nice and friendly. I feel bad giving this place 1 star because she was such a sweet lady. But in the end, the food didn’t tasted good and the possible raw pork can’t allow me to give higher than 1 star.
