Such a wonderful place! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. I was in such a bad mood when I walked in, but the kind staff and front desk instantly turned my frown upside down! The doctors truly care about their patients and I always feel welcome here! Great selection and even better service. Highly recommend!

This is in response to Aly’s comment: Aly thank you for responding. That I do appreciate. ‘1. The amount was around $ 590 that is still a lot to just wash out lint from a baby’s eyes. 2. Your staff is extremely rude. 3. Your statement about saline wash is incorrect since the original dr I first saw GAVEMETHESALINEDROPS. I came in just to get another sample of what YOUGUYSALREADYGAVEME. 4. You stated that you did not receive the $ 300 from me? Then why do I have a charge on my card for that amount? And I really don’t think your office would let me walk out without paying. Please take a close look at how your staff is treating customers and customers, ASKFORTHEPRICEBEFOREYOUDOANYTHING.

My family and I will only go here now. We had the best service from these guys. Not only were they nice and knowledgeable but the follow up and follow thru on our visit and exam was amazing. Is it wierd to say we look forward to our next visit to the eye doctor!

Great customer service and professional manner! Courteous enough to reply to my questions ahead of time and repair my son’s eyeglasses when I walked in without an appointment. Easy to find location and convenient parking make this a great find in the marina!

Not only did they take FOREVER to get our glasses(like close to a month), their billing is ridiculous! We went over a year ago and they kept sending us a bill. We called several times and gave them our insurance information. Instead of going through our insurance, they sent it to collections! We have GREAT insurance that covers everything but yet they can’t be bothered to bill properly? In addition, the older office manager is incredibly rude and uncooperative. Steer clear of this place. You’re better off at Lenscrafters in the mall instead of this overpriced, incompetent place.

AMAZING! *5 stars for experience, location, and customer service!* Was looking around for a new optometrist through our insurance, and after reading the reviews on here, I decided to give this place a try. I went in today for my appointment and was not disappointed at all. I had my 9 month old baby with me, and everyone was extremely kind and patient(even when he got a little fussy). Dr. Kobayashi took her time and carefully explained everything, and even gave me different types of sample solutions to try with my new contacts. They let you try on a bunch of different frames and don’t rush you at all(if you’re indecisive like I am, this is a major plus!) Overall, had a wonderful first experience and will definitely be coming back :)

Super helpful and excellent customer service. Soo was awesome at helping me find the perfect pair of glasses and went out of her way to follow up with me after I received them just to make sure everything was good! Highly recommend this place!

I wear progressives and 2 years in a row I got expensive frames that did not work with the lenses. They gave me headaches. Since I was aware after the first year I brought this to the attention of the doctor and staff who helped me choose frames. I was told the frames I chose would work. After spending $ 700 out of pocket and getting the lenses adjusted I still had headaches. When I asked to return the glasses I was told since it was not in the 14 day period I would only get a 50% refund. So I ended up spending $ 350 for no glasses. They received $ 350 and got the expensive frames back that they can resell for more than that. The owner/doctor was inflexible on the policy at the risk of losing my business, which she did.

Stopped by here this past weekend to get tested since they had a certain machine at this location. Everyone was very nice. The office is really clean and large and they have a great selection of glasses. There is lots of free parking in the lot which they share with a variety of other shops and restaurants. I was very comfortable here and see myself coming back.

This review is for Dr. Kobayashi. She is wonderful. I went here on a whim, just randomly searching for places that take our insurance, but I’m so glad I did. I have an anxiety disorder and I HATE going to doctors offices of any kind but I felt very comfortable and calm at Del Rey Optometry. I wasn’t nervous at all and meeting the doctor put me even more at ease. The doctor was very thorough. I have really poor eyesight and she commiserated with me and explained all of the tests I had done etc. She explained to me that my eye pressure was high for someone my age and I’ll need to get tested at least every year, same as my husband who has diabetes. She also recommended I use polarized lenses because I have some sun damage on my eyes — something my previous doctors didn’t think was important to tell me? Huh. I was fitted with one a day contacts and they were reasonably priced with our insurance, cheaper the more you buy. The doctor also so helped me solve a problem I’ve been having with my eyes for a long time. I get chronic itchiness when I take my contacts out and I assumed it was allergies but I was wrong, it was dryness and the doctor gave me a free sample of some drops that have totally solved the problem. Unfortunately we no longer have the same insurance so I am sad that we won’t be able to afford to go to this office anymore. I guess technically its it’s for rich Marina Del Rey types with their UCLA degrees and their trophy genetics. Lucky bastards. But I feel like even having gone once to Dr. Kobayashi I am more knowledgable and will be able to keep my eyes healthier. I also liked the front desk staff, they were all kind and professional.

They took care of me very well. They repaired my glasses for free. Thats the real optic shops attitude. They are very professional. Thanks for everything. If I need something about optics I would definitely go here!!!

I hadn’t been to an optometrist in many years since in my opinion I hadn’t had any issues with my vision. Since a family member has glaucoma and I’m in my early 40’s it was recommended that I get tested as well. I don’t know if this is standard these days, but the vision chart they use in the test is mounted behind you and you read it in the reflection of a mirror. Following the vision test my prescription came back at .25 and .50, although I wasn’t told what the prescription requirements were, only that I needed glasses.(There’s a federal and CA law for release of prescriptions. It states: «all prescriptions for corrective lenses must be released to patients, whether requested or not) It was recommended that I get 3 pairs! One pair of sunglasses, an indoor pair for reading and a regular pair for distance. When I was done the exam, they marched me right into the showroom to start selecting my new frames! So exciting huh!!! I said that I’d be nuts to pick frames without having my wife present to assist and approve and I left. Not only that, but I’m guessing the prices for frames are probably inflated based on a few other reviews I’ve seen. The truth is, if I need glasses, I’ll probably go online to Glasses USA and buy them for under $ 100 each. I’d probably end up losing them or breaking them throughout the year anyway. At .25 and .50 I see better than most people and having done some research online, I found that with that level, glasses are far from necessary. The funny part was that the doctor explained to me how I’ll need to break my eyes into these new glasses and he told me not to wear them for driving or even walking outdoors until I get used to them indoors first. Sounds scary, I must really need glasses!!! Another reviewer mentioned the used car salesman and that’s the feeling I got. It seemed like a similar tactic for getting you to buy an extended warranty on a new car. So I suppose they’re good at doing the tests, the equipment seemed up to date, the people are very nice, the office is new and clean and there’s lots of parking, but the sales and scare tactics are totally unnecessary and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. My next test will be done elsewhere.

I walked in on a whim, to try out my shiny new FSA card and get some new contacts. I had a wonderful experience soup to nuts. Lovely office with great selection of specs. They fit me into a busy Saturday(yes, open on Saturdays!), and Dr. Kobayashi knew her stuff. She was friendly, direct, and efficient with my time. She evaluated my lifestyle, and made some excellent suggestions as to how a new lens would change my contact-wearing experience. I was in and out in an hour flat. I’ll be back to pick out some glasses!

Really great service. 5 min before they closed @ 5h30pm I called as I wanted to get the reading glasses I had ordered. They waited for me 10 min. This is what I call customer service. They were very helpful and welcoming. Great experience.

I have been going to Dr. Nankas for about 5 years. He, and all the staff, are always very friendly and pleasant. Great customer service. Dr. Nankas is also very prompt, which I appreciate a lot, since so often that’s not the case with doctors! I have picked out new frames a few times over the last few years, and there is always a good selection. I happily recommend Dr. Nankas and Del Rey Optometry to anyone!

It’s interesting that I bought a used car and wanted some lenses made in the same week, and saw the exact same technique. Before talking about the price, sign a bunch of papers, get all of your insurance information handed over and digested, sign some more papers. Finally, at the end of everything: «here’s the price. Cash or credit?» All I’m saying is get the cost settled before you get involved. The price they were quoting for putting new lenses into four classic frames made my wife grab her things and run out the door. We went elsewhere and got it all done for 1⁄3 the price. Can’t complain otherwise, but really: $ 1200 vs. $ 400? Ouch!

I’ve been a customer of this group for 4 – 5 years and am continually impressed by both my Doctor and his support staff. Dr. Nankas is a senior professional that does it old school. Highly proficient, highly professional. No BS. He knows about and cares about what he does. A true professional. Carol and her colleagues take care of the rest, including selecting my frames and fitting them… Both done with precision and care. I give them all a double thumbs up! FBS

I had been a patient for years, even before they changed ownership. I loved the doctor and the original office staff. Great lady. Sadly my experience this week was so rude and negligent that I will never go back or send anyone else I know there. I had made an appointment a year ahead at my previous exam. It was for 10 am. I have the card. My elderly mom was having a problem and the office said«Sure, just come in 15 minutes early.» I was grateful since my mom has dementia and can’t wait long. I informed the lady of this several times to no avail. After 45 minutes and no sign of any help from the office, I had to leave. The lady said, Do what you have to.” No help or compassion at all. She tried to tell my husband I was a walk in. HAHAHA!!! She lied about that and the time of my appointment. I do blame Dr. Nankas because he should be aware of the time and keeping people waiting. {especially in a bad situation}. Luckily I got my mom in to see a doctor in Culver City and I go to a new doctor tomorrow. Please think twice before investing your time and money here.

So I went here this week to get an exam and to get new glasses. I don’t think the office is called Nankas Ernest though. The sign outside just says Optometry, and Dr Nankas is one of the main doctors there. but there are actually 2 more. I originally went into the office because it was close and to get my brother soem glasses. The office looked really nice so I decided to get my eyes checked there. Charisse the assistant was was very laid back and helpful. She even liked helping me pick out my glasses and told me when one didn’t really fit well. And she didn’t have any attitudes or give off the impression that I was wasting her time. The doctor I saw was Dr Huang. I don’t have anything bad or good to say about him… but he kind of smelled like ass. Could have been something he ate. The exam went well, but I ended up with no glasses. I couldn’t really find one that fit too well. I’m probably going to go somewhere else to find glasses. Oh yeah, and Dr Nankas is pictured in the first picture.. standing off to the side.
