Kendall K Jang, DDS

I’ve gone to Dr Jang for several years. Pros– Good hours, friendly staff, and Dr. Jang is straightforward and practical– he doesn’t try to oversell you or pretend you have any problems that you don’t. He’s good at his job. Cons– no dental hygienist. Dr. Jang does the cleaning himself, and I feel like hygienists are generally a bit more gentle with the cleanings. I’d say this practice is solid and reliable and does good work, but if you are especially sensitive with the cleanings, you might be better off looking for an extra frill of two elsewhere. Otherwise, definitely feel comfortable recommending this place.

Like other important things we do at least once each year, I’ve been making sure to get my teeth checked after I had a «bad cavity scare» years ago. All I remember was that something was making my jaw hurt so bad that I had semi-​fainting spells. I couldn’t think straight and I couldn’t get ANYTHING done. Worst of all, I couldn’t eat ANYTHING regardless of how appetizing they were. In other words, something I didn’t really think twice about is now IMPORTANT enough to demand all my attention.
I was freaking out about how bad my cavity must be. I was dreading the possibility that I would not have to remove my wisdom teeth (and stressed with the image that another stupid oral surgeon left by showing me his «hammer and chisel»). I just didn’t like the feeling but was motivated enough by the extreme pain to go deal with it. Thank all things good, however, that it wasn’t a cavity nor had it anything to do with my wisdom teeth. It was just a bloody popcorn kernel that had wedged itself into my gum. I have zero cavities and am part of small percentage in humanity that will never get one. =)
Long story short, I’ve been coming to Dr Jang’s office since my move to Monterey and have had no complaints regarding his practice. For one who doesn’t really like dentists since childhood, he has been the first dentist that I’m willing to remain with due to his professionalism and thoroughness. He doesn’t do «hammer and chisels» (remove wisdom teeth) so that thought alone keeps me seated instead of running away whenever I’m here for a cleaning.
Great dentist and friendly staff. Definitely recommend for those in the area looking to establish a dentist!
