This is place is a gem for Kirkwood lovers. $ 77 for a 1 queen bedroom $ 88 for 2 beds bedroom It was clean and the owners are super sweet. Sadly it is beyond the chains control so you will have to go through it by snowy days. Free wifi, sure not super fast but when was the last time you had good free internet in a Motel? They do late check-ins if you call them ahead and will make sure your room is warm when you arrive. Oh and be careful Apple Maps will send you far off, like 30 minutes off south.

This place is a gem. Stayed here on our first night of a bike tour from Truckee to LA. Never met anyone nicer than the owner, Ron. Rooms are great. Breakfast sandwich at Alpine Café for breakfast the next morning, about a mile up the road.

Stayed here for a couple nights in late May. Nothing fancy, but nice, clean, basic accommodations at a fair price. Recommended if it meets your needs. Pros: –Clean –Comfortable –Friendly, accommodating proprietor –Pretty good WiFi –Microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, TV Cons: –Nearest restaurant is 2 miles away –Our room had windows only the door side, kinda like staying in a cave –No cell service

Cons: — In an area where chain control is very common in the winter. Make sure to plan for this. — Beds are hard and not too comfy — No cell signal(Verizon) — Far from convenience stores and restaurants that are open past 6PM — Difficult to find premium gas nearby Pros: — Clean rooms — Nice owners — Free WiFi that works pretty well — Close to Kirkwood Ski Resort — Affordable rates — TV works nicely For me, the pros outweigh the cons, as I stayed here for two nights to ski at Kirkwood.

Everything was as advertised. We visited in late November and there were some road closures that the owner was able to help us navigate. Great rate and clean, basic room. Beautiful area with excellent recreational access.

Stayed at The Woodfords Inn to do some fishing. The room was neat and clean and the price was very reasonable. Ron, the owner, was very hospitable and went out of his way to make our stay very enjoyable.

We stayed here mid month August 2014. We had a great time. The room was nice and nicely appointed. The owner was one of the nicest people we’ve met in a long time. The price is great and it’s location is just right for day trips throughout the sierras. We will be back.

We stayed here overnight, planning to go to Grover Hot Springs in the morning. We missed the sign for this place the first time around(it’s really only visible if you’re going south), but finally made it at about 6:45pm and the gentleman who runs the place(who might be the nicest person in the world) asked if we had already eaten dinner. We hadn’t, and he was concerned that the nearest restaurant(in Markleeville) was going to close before we could get there. So he called them and asked them if they would wait for us(which they did). After that we got settled into the room which was very nice. The outside of the Inn looks a little old, but they must have re-done the rooms fairly recently because it looked very nice and fairly modern. Everything worked, the water pressure was good, the water temperature was nice and hot. There were 2 sinks, which is nice if everyone’s trying to brush their teeth all at once. There was a coffee maker, which worked well. And there was free WiFi which also worked well. There was a mini-fridge too, in case you have any hiking/travel snacks that need to be refrigerated. Check out was very quick and easy, and again, the gentleman who helped us was extremely nice. Definitely a great place to stay if you’re looking in the area.

Very close to NV if you want to gamble. 6 miles from Markleeville. Located in a beautiful area. Large rooms. Clean. Marble counter in bathroom. Newley redone. Large paved parking. Motorcycle friendly! Owners are very sweet! Rooms are very affordable. I stayed in a dump in UT for the same price as here and this place is VERY nice, they could ask for more and I would have paid it. The only thing I could find wrong is I would like some brighter lighting in the room.

We had a group of 12 folks staying the night before a 2 night snow-camping trip up on Carson Pass. The Location was perfect and the rooms were very Nice. Most rooms had been redone, new carpet, great showers, lots of Towels, Two types of shampoo and conditioner. The owner had turned on the heat and had rooms warm when we arrived, he also called ahead and made sure the restaurant would stay open for dinner down in Markleeville until we arrived. I plan to bring my family back this spring for a long weekend.

We have stayed here for years. Before and after the new ownership. The rooms are great. The location separates it from the others. Unlike other inns that sit you right next to other businesses, Woodfords is located away from any city/town. You are close to fishing, hiking, and close enough to Nevada to do some gambling if that’s your deal. Markleeville is a refreshing 5 minute drive away. The owner and his family are friendly hosts. They seem to go out of their way to make your stay a good time. And for my family it was greatly appreciated. I’d like to add that this is a good place to go for large families that need multiple rooms. You can keep your family centrally located each night after a long day where everyone goes about with their daily activities. It makes for a fun family trip. Just call ahead and check for availability.

We lived in room 4 downstairs with two double beds. There is no table, chair and no place to hang your winter coats. No soap for you. Shampoo, conditioner and extra toilet paper you need to ask for. There is a TV set with VCR, but no TV signal. There are some old VCR movies in lobby, but not for young kids. How about service and friendliness? I grabbed two packs of hot coca for my kids, two packs of instant coffee and couples of tea bags the night we checked in. BTW no coffee maker in room. When I went back to get some coffee bags next morning, owner yelled to me «Do you not get enough coffee yet? You took them all!» while he smoked outside lobby. How about price? It cost me $ 72.00 per night with«FB20% off coupon», but I reserved it at $ 69.00 per night on the phone. I didn’t expect luxury in middle of mountain, but I really doubt it deserves so many starts! I’d rather go camping. I will not go back again.

this is an excellent INN, with great pricing. It is located in the quaint friendly town Marleeville perfect for fishing, biking and hiking. I had not been there prior to the remodle and new management. I am happy to say it was a refreshing stay. I will book this place again for my next tahoe trip!
