Waited 15 minutes till someone came by with a menu. Bathroom had a strong smell of urine. The fries were so burnt…

Terrible service all around. We have gone here three times and each time we’ve been disappointed. Service takes forever or the wrong order.

Found this place by searching Unilocal for gyros, and the 4.5 star rating sealed the deal, but unfortunately this did not meet expectations. Service was very slow, and after a long wait, when our food was finally delivered it was cold. Fries were soggy. The gyro wrap was not made with real gyro meat. The tzaziki sauce was good, but the wrap was over-stuffed with iceberg(???) lettuce. No romaine, no red onion, making this a bland, Americanized version of a gyro wrap; I’ve gotten much better gyros and gyro wraps at regular diners that don’t even call themselves Greek. The Hubs did enjoy his Cuban sandwich, but it was nothing resembling a real Cuban. The rest of the menu is basically diner food, lacking in Greek options to justify calling itself Greek. Kathy’s is fine if you are in the neighborhood and need a quick bite, but pretty average and not worth a special trip to Marlboro.

My husband and I love Kathy’s Kafe. It’s our weekly go to lunch place. Quaint family run place so it’s friendly and food is consistently good. My fav is the bessie’s delight… yum!

I thought it was going to have more Greek food than it did. Aside from the gyros and souvlaki platters, it wasn’t very Greek at all. I feel like I could get those at any diner. We ordered the shrimp appetizer which was decent. I had the chicken souvlaki platter which was very disappointing. It was just chicken on a stick, some pita bread and(bad) fries. It was just very blah. The chicken gyro that my fiancé had wasn’t bad, but again, I felt like it was something I could get at any diner. The service was decent and would be an okay local diner(small food menu though) if it was supposed to be just that — a(non-Greek) diner.

I go gaga for gyros. The instant way to my heart? Take me for Greek food! I’m a sucker for the ambiance of a small, family run place. That’s exactly what Kathy’s is. I actually found the restaurant through Unilocal, whilst searching for Greek food by my parents house. Little did I know there was a small place only ten minutes up the street! Atmosphere: The restaurant was ADORABLE. It looked very home decorated, with lots of Rustic looking signs and plants everywhere. The tables and chairs were cafeteria at best, but I try not to judge. The place had a warm, comfortable feeling about it, and wasn’t too crowded when we arrived. Service: When we got in, we were told to seat ourselves. The restaurant is fairly compact and doesn’t have many 2-tops, so we sat at a four top. Our table was bare and had water on it, yet when the waiter saw this, he immediately rushed over to make it clean. Our waitress was extremely nice, very patient with our ordering(we tend to get complicated) and my water glass wasn’t ever empty. Food: I’m very picky when it comes to my Gyro’s. Naturally that’s what I ordered, along with some Greek fries. When I get one, I expect the lettuce to be crispy, the onion and tomato finely chopped, the mutton hot and the tzatziki(the most important element in my opinion) sweet and not too overpowered by dill. And that’s what I got! I was so overwhelmed when the food came out, there was SO much. I couldn’t fold my pita to eat around it, so I ended up eating it like a salad.(It kind of ruined the effect for me a bit) I liked the tzatziki sauce SO much, I could’ve eaten it alone. The meat itself was good, I enjoyed it. Overall my gyro was absolutely delicious and worth every penny.(Hint: There weren’t many, prices are SO reasonable) My mother got the smoked chicken gyro, and she loved it. Now if you really want something good, get their Greek fries! Order them very well down or they get soggy fast. Their Greek fries are covered in Olive Oil, Vinegar, lemon, Oregano and Feta. SO. DAMN. GOOD. I brought mine home to enjoy later on. Overall: So why the four stars? Well I ordered my fries well done, VERY well done(I stress this) and they weren’t. The flavor was still great but the texture threw me off. I’ve also had a better gyro. Nothing against Kathy’s, I think they’re delicious. I just happen to hold one Greek place on a pedestal and compare it to everyone else. So if you’re looking for a good Greek place in Marlboro, NJ, Do not hesitate to run your butt over to Kathy’s. You’ll love the family atmosphere and I guarantee you, the food will knock your socks off! I’ll definitely be heading back! :)

One of my most favorite restaurants for lunch! The wait staff is warm and friendly and the food is even better! This cute little place is owned by a Greek family. They take so much pride in their food and they treat you like the Queen or King of England. I recommend the chicken Gyros, or blueberry pancakes. That’s all I have tried so far. I am sure they offer more dishes that are worthy of praise. I was talking to the table next to me and they were raving about the egg white omelets. The restaurant was packed by 12:30PM. My waiter(the son of the owner), was busy telling me recipes and sharing other favorite restaurants in the surrounding areas. Just an awesome experience all the way around. 5 Stars!
