Just came home from Stephen Anthonys and the food was good but the service is really lacking. The reason is they are desperately in need of help in the kitchen and on the floor. No one even spoke to us for the first 10 minutes and the food took another 20 – 25 min on top of that. We were there by 830 am and didn’t see any food until about 9. The server was overloaded with tables and the kitchen was sloooow. Another clue they need help(besides the sign out front) was all the food came out luke warm to down right cold. The line was out the door when we left and I can’t imagine those people will do any better than we did. If you are looking for a quick in and out breakfast this isn’t it.

Stephen Anthony’s has been a staple on route 20 between Sudbury and Marlboro for as long as I can remember. They are very consistent and offer decent quality breakfast food at a good price. The service is friendly and good comes out quick. Not much more you can ask for from a place like this.

This was our first visit. The view from the windows onto the lake are lovely, with swans swimming back and forth in front of us. The place is a little dark inside, filled with booths and we were promptly seated. The broccoli soup was prepared vegetarian and had a great parmesan flavor to it. My wife ordered a sandwich made with brie, but that was not available. Her second choice, a vegetable sandwich was tasty. All of the sandwiches were made with what appeared was restaurant baked artisan breads that were excellent. I had the oyster poor boy. It was served on a bun that was cut in half, so it looked like it was half of a sandwich and I don’t recall if it was described that way on the«Specials» menu. So this round bun was then cut as if it was a hot dog roll, I was really disappointed with the few oysters it had and how they stuffed it with lettuce. I removed half the lettuce. My complaint to the waitress about it did result with $ 3 being taking off of the bill, on this $ 11 or $ 12 sandwich. My wife’s food was well presented but my disappointing poor boy has me not trusting any portions on the fish menu. I don’t like being taken for a fool twice. The poor boys that I have ordered at other restaurants were the only filling in the roll and never included lettuce. We would return here, if in the area but again, the kitchen has me doubting their sincerity and the size of the portions and I will consider not ordering from the fish menu.

This place is always packed but the food is terribly overrated. The maple sausage, which they are known for, is a sugar patty of ground meat. There is so much sugar that the outside of it just burns when it cooks. There is no balance of savory and sweet, it’s just sweet. The chicken fried steak was okay. The portions are ridiculously large. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself could use a thorough cleaning.

Sorry guys but the breakfasts are really not good! Nothing taste what it suppose to taste and it always makes me angry because eggs, bacon, potatoes… Are the simplest food to cook, and on top of that it’s very expensive. Crap food+expensive =

The third star is for the view. The hostess is too young and very inefficient and slow, the table clearers our old Mexican ladies who are also very slow, I’m talking four minutes to set up a table for two people. The waitstaff and cooks are OK. The food is basic, uninspired, and my order was not quite correct, but certainly edible. Sad fact is they are probably the second or third best in town. Would be nice to have more than one kind of bagel, and muffins on the menu, perhaps I missed them. Nice view.

Have been for breakfast on weekend multiple times. It is the best thing they serve. It is a little worn out inside and dingy but I have enjoyed breakfast except on Mothers Day weekend it is cray cray that day. Recently I feel the regular menu has gone more to the service food processed food, my mashed potatoes last time had that gluey consistency you know the food truck brought them in a vacuum sealed bag. First time I ever went there for evening meal there were 5 of us and we all had great meals but cant say that about the last few visits.

GREAT place for breakfast!!! Must try the homemade sausage selection they always have — always revolving with multiple choices everyday. They serve lunch and dinner but I can’t say I’ve ever ordered anything but breakfast here! I can’t say enough about the breakfast — they always have the Maple Sausage and it a must try! Worth the stop any time of day.

I don’t get the hype around this place. The place is crazy busy on the weekends. Service is horrible(partly because it is so busy) and the food is mediocre at best.

*** 3.5 stars for brunch at Stephan Anthony’s *** On a Sunday morning at around 10 am, it was crazy crowded with packs of people waiting for a table. We waited 30 –40 minutes for a table for 4. I wouldn’t say that Stephen Anthony’s is so good that it’s worth waiting for, but it’s one of the few places in the area, and it’s in a cool historical spot(I used to bike to the penny candy store next door when I growing up in Sudbury in the 80s). Although it took a long time for the food to come out, the service was otherwise great. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating and made the whole experience great. She also gave us an entire pot of coffee for the table rather than make us wait for free refills(points!). My parents had the vegetable egg white omelet, and they both finished off their entire plate and were fascinated and impressed by the whole«egg white» concept(they don’t get out much). My sister had a special, pumpkin pancakes with turkey bacon and eggs, which she enjoyed but said weren’t the best pumpkin pancakes that she’d had. I had the breakfast sandwich, which while it sounded amazing, was just way too greasy. The bagel was covered in grease and I had to wrap it in a napkin to pick it up. The maple sausage was very good, but too large for me as a proportion of the sandwich. Probably not a problem for most people. All in all it was a good meal and I would come back just because of it’s convenient location, but not I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to come back.

What great maple sausage! What terrible coffee(think«Folgers Light»). Where is Juan Valdez when you need him? Friendly but inattentive staff. Bring your own Tabasco. FYSA — no wifi I need to go find some real coffee.

Hubby made me go again and things have not changed… is it so hard to make a good hash brown?! I asked for them crispy and buttery and they were not. My over easy eggs were over hard, ugh! The ham, on the other hand was really good! And the kids mini waffles were adorable and tasty! Please learn to make proper hashbrowns and I would be a loyal regular customer for life!

Stopped by because my daughters friend got a job here. The view is pretty if you able to get a seat by the windows. The breakfast we had was nothing special, just your average breakfast food. I had Belgian waffles and daughter had eggs and hash. The line wasn’t long to get in, parking was a bit crazy — limited, service was friendly, pleasant, took a while for the food to come out — when it did my waffle was luke warm. For locals for bfast I guess this is place to go…

This is another local place I have been wanting to try for a while. All you ever hear is people raving about their homemade sausage… the sausage definitely lived up to all the hype! I came in for Sunday brunch around noon and the place was packed with a long wait! — good thing a friend came early and got our name on the list. This is a smaller restaurant all in one big open room. It is definitely not a fancy place but seems great for families and casual meals. The waitress we had was terrible. She was never around and took at least 20 minutes to bring back something you asked for — even something as simple as coffee creamer. There were a couple times we had to grab another waitress just to get a coffee refill. The food was all really good. I had a the Jamaican special that came with two eggs, coconut and banana french toast sticks and Jamaican jerk sausage. It was all really good and I love that you can get warm honey with the french toast or pancakes.

DIned here on a vacation/business trip. Very cute interior and has a great view! Great prices, and delicious food. I had the mini waffles which were really good and my husband had the corned beef hash and eggs, which he thought was the best he’s had. Service was just okay. But the food was great.

So Dawn E. recommended I make a stop on the way home(since I was taking Route 20 back) at this place. The Restaurant has a market next door that sells the stuff they serve. So the quest was sausage for the hubby and that was the reason for the stop. Again taking her advice, I got the maple sausage, which looks like a sausage meatball. I also got the Bratwurst and the hot Italian(it WAS a sausage). They also had a Buffalo Blue sausage(stuffed with meat and blue cheese with buffalo sauce) and the sweet Italian(which was sold out). The maple sausage was«freakin’ amazing» as quoted by my husband. He was not impressed with the Brats but he did not boil in beer and peppers/onions, so not sure what he was expecting. The hot Italians I cooked up with peppers, onions in a balsamic glaze in a casserole-like concoction. DELISH — which is a word I hate to use, but it really was delicious.
