Gene’s Furniture and Moving

Used Gene’s Furniture moving service to unload a full U-​Haul when we moved back to town. The two men they sent were less than friendly, and slow. It took them about 2 hours longer to unload a UHaul than it took the two men we had in MN to load (and wrap and Tetris all the boxes, etc into the truck.) Appt was scheduled for 1:30, called at 11am and were obviously annoyed that I wasn’t home to meet them (worked an hour away.) 3 hours into the move (the total time it took to load the truck in the first place), the truck was maybe half empty. I asked them to just move the rest into the garage so I wouldn’t get stuck paying even more than necessary. This left my husband and I the task of moving items into the house and to the second floor (negating the whole purpose of hiring movers.) They also charged far more than they deserved. Needless to say, no tip was given.
They were dirty as well as careless, and left a few dings in the walls as well as on our furniture.
I would’ve requested a partial refund, but decided I’d rather not deal with the company anymore than necessary. Would definitely not recommend for moving services to anyone.
