We just spent a long weekend(Thursday thru Monday mid day) at Pie in the Sky Farm. It was our second visit with Jude and Jay, and everything we hoped for. I was graduating from Goddard College in Plainfield, and my «entourage» of 8 family members were joining the party over the weekend. We rented the entire guest wing, plus the music room downstairs(off the livingroom) and the bedroom with ensuite bath at the end of the upper hallway. My husband and I plus 3 of our children, plus 2 sons-in-law, plus our 2 year old and 17 year old grandsons had a grand time, despite many extreme rain showers much of the week. The llama, RUSTY, was a great hit with us all, as were the ducks and their many ducklings. Baby Sterling hasn’t stopped talking about them since we came home. We also LOVE the large spa/hot tub that accommodated many of us both at night(to wind down) and for me, in the morning, to get going. Our hosts were always handy to help sort things out while leaving us on our own with lots of privacy — a great balance. We decided to self-cater since there were so many of us, and the full kitchen was ideal. But on a previous visit, we enjoyed lovely and yummy breakfasts. Warmly recommended!

Love this place. Came here this summer on a solo motorcycle trip. It was poring rain all weekend and I soaked in the greenhouse hot tub the evening I arrived, then spent the next day curled up on a cozy couch in front of the soapstone wood stove. I enjoyed it so much that I booked the entire B & B suite for a weekend to come back with the family. The suite is three bedrooms and very affordable for a weekend get-a-way. The back wing of this old farmhouse is half cozy living room/kitchen and half modernized greenhouse. Downstairs in the updated section is a wonderful bathroom with large jacuzzi tub and walk in shower with three(yes, 3) shower heads — though the switching valve only let’s you run two at a time. Plus the radiant floor tiles makes me want to just lie in the sun along with Phoenix the resident friendly cat. Upstairs are three cozy bedrooms with wonderful Vermont landscape views and lot’s of books for browsing. Outside there are pastures and trails, a big old barn, sheep and a llama. When we were there in the fall the llama was just wandering around the yard as it had been fighting with the ram, so Jay just let it out to get a little breathing room. So I woke up in the morning and watched the llama on patrol around the house. Jay and Jude, like so many B & B owners(a special breed) are friendly and entertaining. They are anxious to be helpful and quick to recommend good restaurants, places to hike, and other things to do. And the breakfasts, ahh, the breakfasts… You have to stay at least two nights just so that you can get more of their good food. fresh fruit cup, maple smoked bacon, maple walnut scones, asparagus soufflé, baked apples with maple syrup, blueberry muffins, light and fluffy waffles … I went to bed each night excited to wake up and smell whatever was cooking. None of the rooms have a private bath, but renting the whole space makes that happen. No cellular phone service(well sometimes one bar) but good wifi. Close to hiking, X country skiing, and snowmobile trails. Close to Montpelier. A couple of really nice restaurants in the area: Claire’s, Positive Pie, Rainbow Sweets.

I adore Pie in the Sky… I was thrilled to discover it five years ago, and I’ve been returning every winter for a long skiing weekend ever since. After having tried several other B & Bs in the area, I settled on Pie in the Sky because I found it the most comfortable, cozy and welcoming place to stay. Jay and Jude are superb hosts, the breakfasts are to die for,(and will keep you going for most of the day), and nothing beats coming back after long hours of skiing for a soak in their jacuzzi. One year I caught a cold right before arriving, so instead of a more active vacation weekend, I ended up lounging in the sunroom and reading in front of the wood stove in the living room for truly healing and restorative experience. The area is beautiful, and Pie in the Sky is a good jumping off point for visiting the many local farms where you can find the best maple syrup, milk, eggs and grass raised beef. You can also cross country ski or snow shoe right out their door, and downhill slopes are not far.
