I would come back here, the chili dog looked good, but I got the corn dog and a chocolate malt, I was very clear about this and repeated it/corrected the order taker many times, they either don’t know what a malt is but but it on their menu anyway, or put such little malt into the milkshake that it did not have the flavor. Corn dog was good, and if I had wanted a chocolate shake it would have also been good. Straightforward food, clean but worn ambiance. I might bring my car club here.

Sweet owners! A little hard of hearing/understanding but I don’t mind speaking up/clarifying to help with language barriers. Their chili is yummy, especially on a polish dog with cheese! My boyfriend likes their chili cheese burgers or just regular burgers– he likes the burger shack vibe. My boyfriend and I try to stop by and support once a week. Their carrot cake and chocolate ice cream shakes are good too. Nothing too fancy, but great vibes and views!

I LOVE Hot Dog Depot! Best veggie burger I have ever had. Great food, shakes and baked goods. Try their Acorn Bread, it’s delicious. The owners are the sweetest couple and super friendly. Located in a cool, vintage building.

The food was nasty and I saw a rat run through the kitchen as I was at the register last week and thats the last time I will go there. Owner is a rude man as well

I work across the street from this spot so I have a LOT of Opportunities to eat here. Initially I came for the hotdogs. They remind me of Casper dogs, classic and good. Sometimes I recommend this place to my clients and they enjoy the hot dogs as well. Next favorite item, BREAKFASTBURRITOS. I call in when I’m on my way to work and it’s always ready by the time I get there in 5 minutes. Other favorite is their club sandwich. It’s huge and so filling. Price is on point as well, convenient location to Amtrak. If I had 1 complaint it would be there isn’t a good ambiance and its dated looking, but maybe that adds to its charm for some. My kids love to sit at the window and watch the train go by while eating their hotdogs!

We were looking for a fast and cheap meal and stopped by for a couple of dogs and fries. Friendly enough service but food was nothing special. The hot dogs were just warm, not hot. The fries were hot but pale and undercooked. I liked sitting in the window to see the trains, and people-watch as we ate. Might go back to check out their breakfast sometime.

I went to the restaurant the food is a bit pricey for a burger shake and fire nice quiet little spot and I payed for my food the lady cook came out of the back talk with I presume her husband and wiped her nose on her hand and proceed to continue cooking my food after and didn’t change her gloves or anything and I could believe she did that to and cooked my food and then went and served me a meal and I would avoid this shop unless you want to get sick from the contaminated meal

Love this place! The owners are extremely nice. A cute, family-owned place, there are pictures of their grandchildren on the walls to attest to that. They have an expansive menu-you can get hamburgers, sandwiches, baked goods, etc. The prices are extremely reasonable. I’ve ordered the hot dogs and fries every time I come in-they’re delicious! A special note: the owner makes acorn flour and sells it there. If you want to try something different!

Great way to feed your face waiting for Amtrak. Burger more than met 13 year old boy consumption standards. Despite the size, it disappeared in roughly 4 chomps, that with approving grunts indicates«good» food. I thought the chili cheese dog was great.

This place is super adorable! I was driving around downtown Martinez in the morning and saw that this place offers breakfast so I paid a quarter for parking and got a breakfast burrito. Not too shabby! And by not too shabby I mean I really enjoyed eating my breakfast burrito. I kind of am spoiled on breakfast burritos too, after staying in LA and living in San Diego haha. But this one was unexpectedly delicious. The inside definitely looks like a cute but old diner, and it’s got a great view of the train tracks.

7÷25÷2014 @ 1:30pm. As you can see by my posts, I do my homework before visiting an eatery. I look for obscure out of the norm places to eat. I travel a lot and do my darndest not to eat at chain restaurants. We were sending someone on the Amtrak Train, which is right across the street from this place so we decided to give it a try. First impression was the exterior of the building, it looked old, weathered, and very seasoned to serve great food. I mean if it has been there forever then they must be doing something right, right? Walking into this place is like walking into old town Mayberry. The door chime rings and two wonderful ladies come out to greet you. I ordered the cheese dog. It is a boiled Casper brand foot long on a soft bun. It is served with tomatoes, relish, mustard, and onions!, delicious! Now my daughter ordered the chicken noodle soup. As my wife and two daughters tasted the soup, they practically went into a food coma! They raved that is was the best soup they had ever tasted. They said it had a Asian flair to it, like a homemade Asian soup. I asked the Asian ladies behind the counter about the soup and they mentioned it was home made with a secret recipe. My wife and girls said if they ever came back, soup it is! Now the only foul I can call on this establishment is the HEAT in the place. it was hot and muggy inside. We were trying to get out of the 100 degree weather outside, just to come into a hot restaurant. The place needs some air to keep customers comfortable while they enjoy their awesome food. I recommend this place for anyone who wants a great dog with great toppings in a place that you know is a special place in Martinez, CA. I would return, just maybe a cooler day or take it to-go and enjoy the bliss in the A/C. Enjoy!

Not bad! Finally came around to visiting the hotdog depot after a year and a half of living in Martinez and working downtown. I only bought a basic dog, and added with the optional sliced tomatoes, relish and mustard. Pretty good-sized dog and tasty enough, and not too bad for $ 3.50. I never understand why hot dog places don’t give the(in my mind) very important option to have a GRILLED dog. I much prefer a lightly charred, cracked and juicy dog over a boiled one. The texture and flavor is immensely better! But for a standard, boiled hotdog, this place is yummy! And the woman and man working the grill and front counter — I expect they’re the owners — were very smiley and friendly. I’ll be coming back for my hotdog craves. Caspers ain’t nothin compared to a small-time hotdog joint!

The Amtrak train I was on broke down — I decided to come here and grab some breakfast. The french toast combo wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was cheap and quickly prepared. I didn’t try any lunch items.

Tried this place for the first time today. Overall I wasn’t greatly impressed. I got a polish sausage with everything and a chili cheese dog. Both were okay with no major complaints on the food. I was a little disappointed with my $ 11 Bill, seems s bit high for a hot dog. The nice old couple running the place were really nice and can turn around service pretty quick. They have other things on the menu but I’m not sure I was impressed enough to go back and try it.

The Hot Dog Depot and Bakery has been a downtown fixture in Martinez since 1987. They are located near the new Amtrak Station and the Riverfront Park, on Ferry St. This restaurant serves up 12 different kinds of hot dogs, from chili cheese, to hot Cajun, all on french rolls. Their specialty is steamed hot dogs. They also have excellent hamburgers, fries, homemade sandwiches, shakes, really good fresh squeezed lemonade, and a large assortment of homemade and delicious pastries, cookies, and cakes. Hot Dog Depot also has a huge breakfast menu with excellent ham, eggs, and hash browns, plus pancakes made with homemade batter. There are vegetarian sandwiches, too, from hot dogs to burgers, and in between. Open Monday thru Friday 630 am until 6 pm, Saturday 730 til 6 pm. Closed on Sunday’s. I’ve tried many of their sandwiches and am never disappointed. The huge order of fries that come with their combo plates are grease free and fresh. The family that runs this restaurant is extremely customer oriented and gives excellent service. Eat-in, Phone orders, and Take-out. This is definitely one classic little diner that deserves a visit when you are in Martinez. Nearby are some interesting antique shops that are well worth a visit, too.

Saturdays are mommy & baby days to do what ever we want. This usually means walking downtown Martinez to the Shoreline Park and then back up through downtown Martinez. I made a plan to make this our lunch stop before heading home. I ordered a Hot Dog with everything. Yellow Mustard, Onions, Dill Relish. The dog was great and had that nice snap when biting into it. My son liked it too. We also ordered a hunk of their custom Acorn Bread. We took it home and I warmed it up in the microwave then smothered it in butter or cream cheese. It was delicious. It has its own unique flavor that I just cant place. Its like corn bread but with more of the light not flaky consistency of a wheat bread. My son and I both loved it. The décor of the interior is a blast from the past. Not to mention the exterior too. Its an old couple who run it and they were very friendly and very sweet to my son too. I ended my little lunch with a Sierra Nevada. A nice cool sip before our long walk back home. If I thought about it Id come down here more often for lunch.

I am only rating the service and the dogs. The hot dog selection is pretty good All of the dogs have a really nice snap to the bite which keeps me coming back. Now I usually order the Spicy or the Louisiana, they come on a French roll with the basic onions, mustard & relish. The service is very good — in & out in just a few minutes which is an added plus!

Rather average food, but decent prices. For such a basic place, they have a surprising variety of menu items including breakfast(basic) but also surprising things like home-made acorn bread and veggie burgers. I liked the veggie burger. It was heavy on the mushrooms. If you like that sort of veggie burger, you will like this one. I thought the acorn bread was really neat. It’s like a pumpkin bread and was pretty tasty. I have not tried the hot dogs, but the place was packed on a Saturday and everybody in there seemed to be enjoying them.
